Chapter 199: Schemes.
And by those principles, he realised that he did not have any chances of escaping out of this.
…
Biting his tongue, the king squeezed out a few drops of blood. His back shone with a strange symbol which no one was able to notice.
He stood there, silent, listening to Oliver and Rae talk.
His intentions hidden, his face blank, it was only the revenge possibility that kept him sane in the moment.
"Okay.. I will take care of this guy. You can leave now!"
Oliver spoke to Rae in a dismissive tone. It was obvious from his attitude that they were not on good terms with each other either.
He did not want to take care of the King at the moment. It would have been better if Rae waited for a while before confronting the King, but ok.
He will make do with it. He will have to keep the King as a captive, that's it.
"Perfect. I will head back to the queen's chamber then."
Rae smiled happily, not at all minding the attitude.
Honestly, he did not even care for the demon or Oliver. He was pretty excited to go back to the Queen.
He left happily, heading to the queen's place.
After he left, Oliver took a good look at the king.
'It appears that he knows what position he is in. His arrogance has been curbed.'
Oliver thought as he smirked at the King. The king had not spoken a single word after Rae brought him there.
He couldn't help but laugh. This pretentious King had learned his lesson pretty well.
"The king, haha!"
Unable to hold in his chuckle, he laughed out loud. Though, it hurt him a little that the Queen was with Rae, but it still felt better to see the King suffer.
The demon associate of his had wanted him to keep up the pretense with the King. He was aware that the King had an ancestor, a powerful one.
So, anything that could put the king in mortal danger was not to be risked. Otherwise, he would have become the king already.
But now that a demon stronger than his associate had done this, there were excuses for him to torment the King to a certain extent.
His fingers moved in excitement. Did he want to punch the fatty? Yes, very much!!
"What do you want? You know there are things you cannot do even if you have everyone in control, there are still things you should not touch."
Finally, the King spoke. He was well aware that he was very vulnerable at this moment.
He looked at Oliver in disgust. Visibly disturbed, how quick the times have changed.
So, he decided to speak directly about the open secret. The open secret of an ancestor of the King standing guard for their lineage in secret.
"I know. I am very well aware of that."
Clenching his jaw, Oliver replied with a forced smile.
How could he not know about that open secret? Wasn't that the sole reason he had not tried to claim the throne for himself already?
He relaxed his body, controlling his urge to smash the king's face.
'Who doesn't know that there is a level five ancestor of your Whiteblayde family in the palace?
That is the reason why there are factions only and not the change of thrones.'
The sole reason why he was able to slowly get his foothold in the royal palace without any background was because of this open secret and lots of factions.
It was easy for him to join a faction and the rest was left to the demon inside him.
And finally, he reached here, the unnamed king of the kingdom.
"In fact, the reason I did not ever harm you was because of this reason and this will be the same now too."
Oliver patted the King's shoulder with a strong grip, using his full strength as he explained why there were no attempts on the King's throne as of yet.
He also assured that there would be no injuries to the King now either. There was no reason to do so.
"However, there are some restrictions. You will not have much freedom now."
An evil grin spread across Oliver's face as he looked the King in the eye.
He had a few subordinates which he had to discard because of the King's strange tastes.
He did not feel that bad about using the subordinates, but it was time he put a good example of himself in front of his subordinates.
'So, I will survive for now.'
The king exhaled his long held breath as he thought that he was saved. In a month at most, he believed that his ancestor would be here.
Unaware that Oliver planned to humiliate and torment him in front of his subordinates.
Oliver left the room after the demon inside him placed a few restrictions on the King, just in case.
'Haha! We will be gone after half a year at most. He would not be able to survive after that.'
He laughed to himself as he thought of his plans. He would be able to get all the necessary blood essence before the six months deadline.
By the sixth month, he would torment the King enough to trigger the safety mechanism of the token.
He would be already out of the kingdom when the supposed ancestor of the Whiteblayde family arrives.
The mind demon inside Oliver commented that it was not necessary. This was troublesome and would only cause trouble for the Queen and the kingdom.
'Who cares? The queen will have to deal with it and that demon, not us.'
Oliver chuckled, not at all planning to reconsider. If Rae remained for that long then it would be his trouble to deal with, not theirs.
It was a perfect plan!
…
The door of the queen's chamber opened up without any introduction.
The veiled lady inside got alert and moved to the door instantly.
To her relief, it was none other than Rae. Surprised, she blurted out, questioning Rae's motives.
"You are back?"
She realised that it was rude but the words were already out of her mouth.
"Hmm. Where's the queen?"
Rae did not mind. He was more curious about the Queen's whereabouts.
"She is in there, cleaning herself."
The veiled lady pointed to a door to her left. The queen was inside there, taking a bath. She really needed one.
