Ninja World: Power through Bonds

Chapter 7: New Teacher

Over a month had passed in the blink of an eye. The streets of Konoha were now alive with lush green leaves, and the faint sound of cicadas echoed through the air.

Summer was creeping in.

In the Shimura clan's courtyard, Shimura Denji was locked in a heated sparring match with another ninja. Blades flickered, their swift movements blurring into shadows, creating a spectacle of swordplay that left Uchiha Izumi, watching from the sidelines, unable to follow their movements. All she could hear were the sharp, rhythmic clashes of steel and see the indistinct forms of the combatants.

Denji swung his long sword, forcing his opponent to arch back in a desperate bid to avoid a fatal blow to the throat. But in an instant, his upward slash transitioned into a side strike. The flat of the blade hit the ninja's arm with a resounding clang, causing him to lose his grip and drop his weapon. The fight ended abruptly.

Denji exhaled, steadying his breathing, and slid his sword back into its scabbard. "You've lost, Sensei Nishimura."

"…" Nishimura Taichi, a seasoned member of Root with Chūnin-level strength, stood silently for a moment. Renowned for his assassination skills and swordsmanship, he had served as Denji's instructor for the past two weeks. Yet, in that short time, this boy had not only absorbed everything Nishimura had to offer but had also surpassed him.

"Master Denji truly is a prodigy," Nishimura said at last, bowing his head slightly.

Despite holding back some of his speed and strength, Nishimura's swordsmanship had been honed to near perfection over many years. Still, Denji had swiftly mastered it and moved beyond what Nishimura could teach. It was a stark reminder that the capabilities of a genius were often beyond the comprehension of an ordinary ninja.

"Master Denji," Nishimura continued, "I have nothing left to teach you. I'll report to Lord Danzo and arrange for a more advanced instructor."

"Thank you," Denji replied, offering a polite nod as Nishimura departed.

With that, he turned to Izumi, his smile warm. "Come on, I'll walk you home."

Izumi hopped down from her perch and ran to his side, taking his hand eagerly. "Denji, you're incredible! Sensei Nishimura is a Chūnin."

Denji chuckled. "It's just a Chūnin. You should set your sights higher, Izumi."

Hand in hand, they started down the path. Despite his effortless victory, Denji remained humble. He knew better than to judge ninja strength by the standards set by well-known characters in the original series.

The average Genin's abilities barely extended beyond mastering the basics of the Three Basic Techniques. Many never even saw the battlefield. They were, quite literally, fodder.

Chūnin, by contrast, often served as captains of Genin teams. Their strength was measured by their ability to lead missions, wield B-rank jutsu with ease, and possess roughly ten times the chakra of an ordinary Genin. It was a considerable step up, but still not extraordinary by itself.

Denji's victory in swordsmanship against a standard Chūnin was, by his assessment, no great feat. However, he knew that even if Nishimura had given his all, he would still have emerged victorious. The gap between them was just that wide.

His gaze fell briefly to the stats he'd accumulated recently:

[Name: Shimura Denji]

[Gender: Male]

[Nature Transformation: Wind (Grandmaster), Fire (Beginner)]

[Strength Rating: With your current level of skill, defeating a Chūnin head-on is easy.]

Denji had not received any groundbreaking rewards recently. Most of his gains came in the form of additional chakra and modest attribute boosts. But with Izumi as a training partner, his growth rate remained impressive.

He briefly considered encouraging Izumi to leave the Uchiha compound. But for now, the tensions between the village leadership and the Uchiha clan had not yet reached their boiling point. As a mere child, Denji's words carried little weight. Izumi's mother might not even take his suggestions seriously, and his interference could attract unwanted attention.

Patience was the key. The Uchiha could hold out for a few more years, and Denji would wait for the right moment.

Elsewhere, Nishimura Taichi arrived at Root's underground headquarters. After delivering his report, he knelt before Danzo, speaking with deference.

"Lord Danzo, Master Denji's swordsmanship has surpassed my own. I'm no longer qualified to be his instructor."

"Already?" Danzo's single visible eye widened in surprise.

"Yes, my lord."

"I see. You're dismissed."

Nishimura bowed once more before disappearing.

Danzo leaned back, deep in thought. "It seems Denji's talent exceeds even my expectations."

Though pleased, Danzo faced a dilemma. He needed to find a replacement instructor. Unfortunately, few in Konoha possessed the level of swordsmanship required to challenge Denji.

Maruboshi Kosuke came to mind, but his ties to the Third Hokage made him a poor choice. The Yamashiro family's skilled swordsman was another option, but Danzo doubted he was significantly stronger than Nishimura.

Just as Danzo was about to give up, a young figure came to mind—someone with exceptional swordsmanship and a promising background. The only catch was the individual's delicate position within the village. After much consideration, Danzo made his decision.

The next morning, Denji was preparing to go out when Danzo returned unexpectedly.

"Denji, I've found you a new instructor," Danzo announced. A rare smile flickered across his usually stern face. "He's not just skilled in swordsmanship; he can also teach you ninjutsu and taijutsu."

"Who is it?" Denji asked curiously.

At that moment, a soft breeze swept through the room, and a young man appeared beside Danzo.

Denji's eyes widened in surprise. It was him?
