"Somewhat interesting," Momoshiki said with a smirk as he observed Uchiha Madara, casually discarding the ninja gear's performance.
"But where's your guardian?"
"Or are you actually the guardian?"
"It's best if both of you show up now. I don't have much time."
Uchiha Madara stared at him strangely, then glanced at Black Zetsu as if expecting a translation. He clearly didn't understand the words.
Tobirama quickly asked, "Kitahara-kun, what does he mean by Peach Style? Two together… a guardian?"
Despite his earlier complaints in the group, Tobirama focused intently on Kitahara Hitoshi's explanation. Within the smaller discussion group, even the Six Paths brothers hadn't expected the appearance of figures like Peach or Gold Style. This meant these beings may have originated in the distant past—thousands of years before.
But now, it's thousands of years later.
Just like how the ninja rabbit discovered the Sage of Six Paths once intended to seal Kitahara Hitoshi, Tobirama, as the Second Hokage of Konoha, instinctively blocked any threat. He didn't care about ancient history or the origin of the ninja world. He only wanted to protect Konoha—the village ruined by his own disciples.
He stood firmly by Kitahara Hitoshi's side. As for the Six Paths brothers, they were of no use to him now.
Everyone assumed Kitahara Hitoshi was from the future. Even Black Zetsu, who also watched the live broadcast, didn't expect these new Otsutsuki—Peach and Gold. It couldn't explain them and had to rely on Kitahara Hitoshi's knowledge.
It suspected Kitahara Hitoshi had already seen the script.
Then Kitahara Hitoshi said, "The number of the Ōtsutsuki clan is unclear. Their strength is equally uncertain. What we do know is that every Ōtsutsuki is functionally immortal. They can't be killed—only sealed. They usually act in pairs. One is of high status, the other of lower status. The lower one serves as the sacrifice during battle."
He continued, "Madara's current form is similar to an ordinary Ōtsutsuki, so Momoshiki probably mistook him for one and assumed he had a partner."
Namikaze Minato commented, "That makes sense. If it's a team of two, the one who would stand beside Madara must be the Shodai."
Hashirama replied, "If it's to protect the ninja world, I would gladly fight with him."
Tobirama interjected, "Did everyone forget me? If anyone teams up with Big Brother, it should be me."
Senju Tobirama replied bluntly, "You can't."
Tobirama asked, "Why not?"
Senju Tobirama answered, "Do you have the power of the Six Paths? Let's be real. Didn't we already discover that no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't keep up with our older brothers?"
Izuna fell silent.
Now he understood why. Madara inherited Indra's chakra, the Sage of Six Paths' son. Hashirama inherited Ashura's chakra, the other son. Their unique chakras complemented each other and made them unstoppable. That's why the two connected so naturally and pushed Izuna aside.
He cursed the Sage of Six Paths. If not for him, his brother wouldn't have been drawn to someone like Hashirama.
Hashirama said, "Come on, Madara. This is an enemy we've never seen before. Collect data for the next generation."
He stared at his old rival. Before founding Konoha, they were enemies, but also companions and friends. Their goal was to build a village where their clans could live in peace and end war.
Both sought peace. But their paths diverged—Hashirama chose trust in others; Madara trusted only his own strength. Eventually, Madara became Konoha's first rebel, bringing darkness to the village.
Yet now, watching Madara's stance in the live broadcast, Hashirama sensed a lingering fire in him. Madara hadn't given up on his original ideals.
Hashirama reflected on himself. Though he trusted others and built the village and initiated the Five Kage Summit, it all eventually led to the Great Ninja War. The world became worse than before.
He admitted his path was flawed. So, he looked calmly at Madara, curious if his path might be the right one after all.
Sage of Six Paths, watching Hashirama's soul, thought about what he heard. Hashirama was willing to help Madara. These two... were they finally working together?
Wasn't this just Indra and Ashura, united at last?
The Sage, often accused of having no heart, called Indra unfilial. But in truth, he was the one with no right to speak.
His sons' chakras had reincarnated endlessly, always fighting.
Now, Hashirama would assist Madara.
For the Sage, maybe this was fine. For the first time, he saw Indra and Ashura united.
"It's beginning," Kitahara Hitoshi said.
Tobirama snapped back from the group chat, eyes fixed ahead. Even from the elevated view on Shiren's Planetary Devastation, he couldn't make out Madara clearly. He regretted not bringing binoculars, so he refocused on the group's live feed, which had a clearer view.
Namikaze Minato noted, "Peach and Gold's eyes are Byakugan—not Rinnegan."
Minato was serious. Kitahara Hitoshi had reversed summoned the Ten Tails into Madara, making him its jinchūriki to raise his power and help him face Peach and Gold. Minato observed and gathered data.
Peach and Gold had suddenly appeared—and there were more Ōtsutsuki behind them. It was necessary to gather intel so that if these beings truly invaded in the future, even ordinary shinobi could be prepared.
Though strong, Minato's strength lay equally in his intelligence.
The same went for Kakashi, the disciple Minato brought with him. Kakashi specialized in intelligence gathering. For shinobi, collecting intel was the most critical task.
So… the valuable experimental subject that is Uchiha Madara couldn't be wasted. Now was the time for those who had passed to exert their remaining strength.
Meanwhile, Kitahara-kun had revealed that the Ōtsutsuki clan was immortal and could only be sealed. Which meant… wasn't the current status of Naruto and Sasuke, trapped in the Six Paths Planetary Devastation, incredibly dangerous?
If no one collected information now, then next time, the one fighting might be Naruto himself.
As a father, Minato surely wanted to do more for his son.
So, Minato suddenly became serious.
Everyone noticed his aura shift and turned their attention to him. Ōtsutsuki Hamura was the first to respond. He realized that their mother had been unsealed, lost her strength, and turned into the ninja rabbit.
Now, Mother was no longer able to resist the Ōtsutsuki clan. As a son who once opposed her, Hamura felt guilt—but also sympathy. So naturally, he was willing to contribute.
He shared his intel.
Hamura stated plainly: the Byakugan should be the standard of the Ōtsutsuki clan. After all, his mother's eyes were Byakugan. That meant he, too, had them.
Hashirama questioned it—wasn't that the Hyuga clan of Konoha?
Tobirama disagreed. Though it sounded disrespectful coming from a Hokage, he pointed out that the Hyuga's Byakugan was nowhere near the level of Shion's. In other words, the Hyuga's Byakugan wasn't even worthy of comparison.
Hashirama asked again—then what exactly made Ōtsutsuki Byakugan special?
Hamura admitted he couldn't fully explain it, but his mother's Byakugan was incredibly powerful. It could see through everything… and even cast illusions.
That revelation shocked everyone.
Minato, Hashirama, and even Onoki were stunned—Byakugan could cast genjutsu?
Hamura confirmed it. He had once been hypnotized by her. When their mother learned he and his brother were planning to rebel, she cast a powerful illusion on him.
Hagoromo interjected—then it must be coercion.
Minato asked if it was coercive genjutsu.
Hamura added there was more to it. He suspected the Byakugan possessed a unique hidden ability.
Tobirama remarked that it sounded a lot like the Mangekyō Sharingan, which also granted special powers beyond standard Sharingan.
Kakashi, confused, realized something—did the Sharingan he inherited from Obito already count as Mangekyō?
Tobirama asked directly—Kakashi, when you used your Mangekyō, did it have a special ability?
Kakashi hesitated.
Then it hit him. The eye he'd used for years to perform Kamui had always been a Mangekyō Sharingan. No wonder it drained so much chakra.
He wasn't even Uchiha.
And now, had it not been for current events, he might've learned this from Kitahara-kun earlier. That would've helped him decide whether or not to relinquish the eye.
Back then, he'd kept Obito's Sharingan as a reminder—to honor a fallen comrade and never abandon anyone again.
But symbols were only symbols. What mattered was the heart behind them.
So now he understood. He was beginning to consider removing Obito's eye. He carried Obito's will, but he also had his own mission.
If he was too weak… he'd never catch up.
Like now—he was of no help at all.
Tobirama concluded there was no more to be said. He reminded Kakashi to find time to ask Kitahara-kun directly.
Kakashi agreed.
In truth, Kakashi had already tried asking—but Kitahara-kun prioritized his own indulgences… no, he just didn't have time. So the matter was delayed.
Minato spoke again. This was getting serious. With both Momoshiki and Kinshiki present, that meant four Byakugan users.
As Minato said that, the two began to levitate. Momoshiki rose first, with Kinshiki following silently.
They didn't attack yet.
Instead, Momoshiki pulled a pouch from his waist and retrieved a red crystal orb. Without hesitation, he swallowed it.
Minato recognized it—it looked familiar.
Hashirama thought so too. Kakashi agreed. Even Chiyo remembered something.
Tobirama confirmed—Chiyo had indeed seen it before. But where?
Shukaku, the One-Tailed Beast, suddenly spoke up.
Wasn't that the chakra candy Kitahara Hitoshi once gave to the little white rabbit girl from Suna?
Tobirama paused. Everyone paused.
Minato realized it too—it was almost identical.
It was condensed, high-purity chakra.
But Momoshiki had devoured it before even beginning combat. That meant—
Tobirama's eyes widened. Not good!
Hashirama asked what was wrong.
Tobirama warned them—Momoshiki was preparing a massive technique.
As he spoke, Momoshiki finished consuming the orb. A yellow Rinnegan appeared on his palm.
He raised his right hand.
A black chakra sphere formed at the center of his palm. At first, it was small—like a pigeon egg.
Then he raised it higher. The small black sphere rapidly expanded until it reached the size of an entire basketball court.
And he unleashed it.
Below, the target was Uchiha Madara.
Uchiha Madara stood calmly.
"I must now become the guardian of the ninja world," he declared, smiling.
Because—could ordinary shinobi withstand that attack?
The answer was no.
But he, Uchiha Madara—could.
Blue chakra burst from his body. His eyes reverted from Rinnegan back to Mangekyō Sharingan.
He was ready.
