Chapter 81: Nindō 0081: Time Shenanigans (2/3)
"I'd thought getting caught wouldn't change the future like at all. At best, Pervy Sage would get some more punches for peeping. But this is really funny."
"Butterfly effect, Naruto," Cronai, who had possessed Ino's body, leisurely walked with him through the building halls. "The smallest things can change things drastically. This change is still minor."
"Still, I'd never expect the Land of Iron to expand so much that they became the sixth great nation just because Granny Tsunade's focus was elsewhere during their rapid development."
"Come now, let's go meet your childhood friends," Ino grabbed his hand and walked forward. Occasionally, a jōnin or chūnin would run past them, but Naruto and Cronai were ignored as if they weren't even present.
"Put some clothes on first," Naruto said. They were both still naked. "And let me do the same. Fuck, so that's why Tsunade starts looking at me weirdly and gets somewhat antagonistic toward me in the future. You also left my orange jacket in her office, didn't you?"
"Guilty as charged," she laughed. "Here," she extended her arm, and a set of clothes appeared in her hand. "Wear this."
"You trying to make me look like Sasuke or something?" Naruto looked at the blue-black theme cloak and inner shirt with black trousers. "Give me my usual clothes."
"Hmph, fine." she snorted. "I thought some change would look cool."
"Yeah, dress me like the guy who has just deserted the village and left a shadow on everyone's hearts. That's going to be fun."
"I just wanted to see some drama. Your generation was weirdly close, after all. Let's go check them out."
…
"Does that Urashiki guy have nothing like Momoshiki? Some kind of power-up that will help me get the most out of him?"
"No. Honestly, you should've taken care of him earlier. Without me, you'd be dealing with a time-traveling Ōtsutsuki without the necessary precautions."
"Shadow Clones just aren't strong enough. They may be able to siphon Kurama's chakra remotely, but they can't copy my mental state. I need to upgrade them to a better ability."
"Just wait for an Ōtsutsuki with a cloning ability to show up. You can just steal the ability codex from them and replicate it."
"It's the waiting part that's boring."
"Don't be a baby."
"A billion-year-old baby does seem like an interesting concept, no?"
"You're being crass," she said. "It doesn't suit you."
Naruto snickered and didn't respond, enjoying a rare moment of silence as the blonde beside him wrapped her arms around his arm, deliberately holding him close so that her chest was pressed against him.
As they walked through the village, ignored by every single passerby, Naruto caught sight of a familiar face. Or, more accurately, he caught sight of a familiar head of hair. There was only one person in the village with pink hair, after all.
"Come on," Naruto's companion was already on top of the situation and dragged him toward the glimpse of that familiar face.
Just as the two turned a corner, a loud thumping sound was followed by the pained cry of a child.
"You really were a crybaby in front of her, weren't you?" Cronai spoke with amusement.
Naruto had a peculiar expression on his face as he looked at the scene of himself being pummeled by Sakura while whimpering as she towered over him.
"Fuck, I was such a wimp in front of Sakura?" Naruto felt secondhand embarrassment.
"Let go of my Onii-chan!" Konohamaru came to Naruto's rescue. "Leave, you violent woman!" He pointed at Sakura and cursed her.
"What did you just say, pipsqueak?" The pink-haired kunoichi snapped at him with a look filled with daggers.
"N-nothing …" Konohamaru was quick to cave and turned around. "I did my best, Onii-chan." He ran with his tail between his legs.
"And you …" She growled. "Why were you using that perverted jutsu in the middle of the street?"
At this point, another person appeared: young Hinata. "Um … Sakura-chan. Please calm down."
"Honestly," Sakura shook her head and stood up. "He needs to be more thoughtful of his surroundings."
"Well said, little girl," Cronai suddenly interjected herself into the conversation. She approached them while still holding Naruto, who had a thoughtful look on his face. The moment his and Cronai's presence became known to the three genin, the future drastically changed in terms of whom he ended up with. The wild thing was that instead of having a different partner as one would expect, he now ended up going on a whole different path in life. The current future would have him married not only to Hinata but to all of the prominent kunoichi in his generation. His new horny ass didn't even leave the ones in the older generation, taking women like Konan, Tsunade, Kurenai, and Anko in.
[What do you say? Why don't I let this future be the real deal? You will find it so much easier to use the Dominion Mark on these women when they are your wives.]
Naruto didn't respond to the woman's teasing and instead focused his gaze on Hinata with an odd intensity.
"Who are you? Have I seen you somewhere before?" Sakura was instantly on her guard. Seeing her, kid Naruto also stopped playing around and stood up, ready for a fight. It was just Hinata who was a little slow on the uptake.
"No need to be defensive, Sakura-chan," Ino spoke playfully. "Doesn't the purple give anything off?"
"Hey," Naruto's call pulled Cronai's attention.
"What?" She pouted at him.
"What the fuck is this Dominion Mark thing?" His tone was somewhat grave.
"Oh? Did you sense it already?" Cronai completely ignored Sakura's words of confusion and turned to look at Naruto. "Tell me."
"It's faint … but it's there," Naruto separated himself from her and approached Hinata. "Don't worry, Hinata-chan. I won't hurt you. I merely need to check something."
"You should get back, old man. Or else, you can expect a beating," Young Naruto was the first to stand up against this strange man approaching his shy comrade.
"It'll only take a minute," Naruto said. "Can you come to me, Hinata?"
His voice had an eerie sense of compulsion for the young Hinata as she approached him of her own volition, leaving kid Naruto confused.
Naruto didn't waste any time and put his hand on the girl's shoulder. "Don't resist," He said before infusing a trace of his chakra into the Hyūga. Moments later, his eyes widened as if he'd sensed something surprising.
"It's there," He removed his hand and turned to Cronai. "Dormant, but it's there. I feel that I can instantly activate it if I want to."
"That's the power of the mark, Naruto. If you want, you can do it for little Sakura here and see the effects when you go home," Cronai suggested. "No matter what I change in this timeline, that mark will always be on her. It is something that goes beyond time."
Their mere conversation was deviating everything to such an extent that every word that left Naruto's mouth accompanied another infusion of twenty years' worth of memories with more and more things changed. However, he didn't seem even the slightest bit affected by the addition.
"No thanks. I'm already somewhat annoyed with this version of the future. I would rather enjoy a monogamous relationship with my wife."
"Even if it racks up your guilt until you explode and ruin everything?"
"I am going to tell her," Naruto said.
"And if she refuses to allow you to continue?"
"Then I'll listen to her and let go. I'll look for another way to work things out."
The small smile on Ino's lips widened into a gleeful grin. "You know, this is the one version of you that I've never seen … So caring. So cute."
"Let's move on. In the meantime, you can tell me some stuff about the mark."
"Didn't I already do that?" As the duo walked forward.
"No, you will be doing that," Naruto said.
"Ahh, I always get my tenses mixed up. So what do you want to know?" As they walked ahead, the three genin were left standing idly, only coming back to their senses after the duo left.
"Why does this Hinata have the Dominion Mark? Even if it is dormant …" Naruto said.
"Because the mark goes beyond spacetime and is a permanent presence on the ones you give it to. Even though this is the past, you have given the mark to your wife at one point in time, that is enough for her entire existence to be permeated with its presence. The Dominion aspect of the mark is beyond even the natural rules. You've barely scratched the surface of its potential."
"Wouldn't that affect the past as well? Hinata's mark is hidden, but Karin's is out in the open. Same with Sarada. If it transcends spacetime, their marks should've been visible at the time of their birth, changing the future. But in the futures I've seen until now, Karin's existence doesn't seem to have been affected by the mark. Given Orochimaru's habits, he would've dissected her by now. Sarada would've also received special attention from birth due to her mutated Sharingan."
"Trying to give special treatment to the wife, are we? Her situation isn't special. You're just too far from Karin to sense her dormant mark. Analyze the future better, Naruto. The dormant marks are invisible." Ino sped up and walked ahead of him before turning around. She put her hand on his chest and got closer to him.
"I still don't get how the mark can appear in the past when I've put it on them in the future," Naruto said dryly as Cronai pressed her lips against his neck.
"It's complicated, but as I said. The mark breaks the rules of reality. Or, more accurately, dominates them and bends them to its will. You will understand more in the future." She spoke breathlessly and kissed him as he put his hands on her hips.
"In the middle of the street?" Naruto used just as they separated for a moment.
"We'll move to the side a little~ No one can see us. And the one who can see us will make it enjoyable. Trust me," She quickly opened his trousers.
