Chapter 3: IT IS FATE
Cling! Cling! The clinging of money continued. Neon could only sit there and watch as he doesn't know what to do. He facepalmed, knelt, rested against the wall but still, he felt uneasy.
He decided to take a look at his environment since this has been one of his core traits in his life and what his father also does, observation.
Looking around, he could see that the buildings here aren't that different from those at where he came from.
In the Realmverse, there are core galaxies and outer rim galaxies. The core galaxies could be said to be the central points of the Realmverse featuring advancement and professionalism. It is usually calm compared to the outer rim galaxies.
Neon was in one of the central galaxies, the Verdant Spiral. There was this planet called Auranis and that's where he grew up, preferably, used to until the disaster.
Currently, he is in one of the outer rim galaxies called the Lumivian Expanse on a planet called Astralis.
"Wow, this really looks like home!" He concluded upon scanning his environment. All the structures he used to see are all there except for their inferiority. Thus they are less advanced.
"Ehem..ehem", he suddenly heard that and he turned around, looking for the source of it. "Who's there?" He asked cooly. "Up here." He heard it again but this time, differently, as if it was within. He looked up but all he could see was a blue sky.
When that power coursed through him, he thought he has finally gotten his Realm but no matter how hard he tries, it comes to nothing. This has left him a little depressed and he has forgotten about it as he doesn't get obsessed with the matters around him.
"Inside your head pig! Can't you even tell when you hear something in your head? I don't even think you deserve such a power", he heard it again but this time, it was clear. What he was hearing was in his mind.
"Huh? Am I hallucinating?" He thought. "Does this look like a dream to you? Well, let me at least wake you up first if you think it is." The voice spoke again, " I don't have enough essence but this could at least last till this is over." "Till what is over?" Neon tried to speak but unfortunately, it has already happened.
There was a stone beside him, not that big but enough to hurt someone. All he could see was the stone shaking vigorously before it lifted off the ground and flew towards a group of three.
"Argh!" A loud shriek was heard next to him. Neon looked at the scene in horror. There were three boys not far away from him busily conversing about their own affairs. He was also focused on himself until he heard what the voice has said. This was no dream.
He has realized it but it was too late. " Look at you stupid beggar! I will punch the hell out of your stupid face!" One of the figures cladded in white robes bellowed. They were standing there until something flew over. It was a stone and it was able to hit him squarely in the face. Looking at the direction it came from, it was only the beggar who was there.
Within a few moment, he has closed up the distance between himself and Neon, and with an outstretched palm, he hit Neon at the ribs sending him rolling on the floor. "Argh!" He screamed in pain. The boy didn't stop there, following with a series of punches with practiced efficiency.
All this while, the voice could be heard rejoicing, "hehe, I told you I will get you when we are safe. See, I am the superior here." Neon couldn't make sense of what it was trying to imply, " what did I do?" He asked through gritted teeth. "You once called me a thing. You were like; 'what was that'" The voice mimicked him.
"Ohh.." realization dawned upon Neon, "see, I am sorry." "It's too late.Enjoy." The voice said in a malicious tone.
Pam! Pam! Fists slamming into flesh could be heard. Neon was still being beaten. He never tried to resist as he knows it was his fault. If he had also been tempted like this, he would have done the same thing.
Swoosh bang! Suddenly, the boy was sent flying. Neon looked up in surprise, "what the f..." "Dare bully the weak again in my face and you will see." An unfamiliar voice said.
It was a girl. She looked to be around eleven.
She was a vision that seemed almost unreal, her presence radiating an effortless allure that drew every gaze. Her skin, luminous and flawless, caught the light like polished ivory, while her eyes, deep and captivating, held a universe of mysteries within them. Silken hair cascaded in waves, shimmering as if kissed by moonlight, framing a face sculpted with delicate precision. Her lips, full and inviting, curved in a smile that could both melt hearts and command respect. Every movement she made was perfect in motion, a graceful defense that left those around her breathless, as though she was a masterpiece brought to life.
Upon seeing the girl, the three boys quickly scattered. They were afraid. No one knows her background and she wouldn't tell anyone but as far as they can tell, she is very powerful.
"Th.. thanks", Neon stammered. "Not yet," she said in a low but commanding tone, " why didn't you fight back?" "Because it was my fault." Neon replied in an embarrassed manner. The girl understood everything since she witnessed the scene. She gave him a hand and he stood up. Looking at their height, it was just a few inches difference.
" I can see your Realm is, not really unstable but I think it has something to do with the control. Come on, I will help you out." With that said, she dragged Neon by the hand into a nearby forest.
" What's she going to do with a beggar like him?" "Do you really want to know? Kill him of course." "No she wouldn't have saved him" "And I have even been trying to talk to her, this lowly life is really lucky to touch her.
People started talking about what has happened. Although the girl has no background, no one could even dare to mess with her as rumors say that she has a curse, a curse from a demon that could annihilate everything around her when she gets out of control.
She has been in the vicinity for quite long but has chosen not to join any faction or group although they are trying their best to recruit her. There was only one person that she seems to be connected to, a daughter of a powerhouse that no one would also dare provoke.
---
Under a tree near the shrubs around, the two figures stood, Neon and the girl. "Hey, thanks for saving me back there. It was... really pathetic." Neon spoke first. He couldn't even look into the eyes of the girl in front of him. "It's nothing." She said plainly.
" I am Shalyn. That's all I can tell you for now. I will tell you the rest when we are alone. Privacy." Upon hearing the name Shalyn, Neon stood rooted to the spot.
He has only been able to live with his parents for nine years. His mother, Shalyn, died without even having the power to resist. His pulse quickened and he started sweating. "Hey buddy calm down. Your time will come." The annoying voice in his head spoke once again but this time, comforting.
" Are you alright?" She asked softly. There is something that he can't overlook, Shalyn here has the accent of his own mother, allowing him to remember when she had said that to him once and he calmed down. "Yep, I just remembered something. Nothing special." He said cooly.
"Alright , let me go help you out." She once again dragged him. Suddenly, she let go of him and looked into his eyes. Neon could feel the gaze of something unrealistic in front of him but he didn't speak.
"Hey, why do you seem to look so familiar?" They both asked at the same time. They looked at each other and when one tries to speak, they will end up speaking in unison. It happened several times before they finally stopped.
Shalyn looked into the eyes of Neon once again and said, " it is fate."
