Chapter 271: The Start of School

Four days later, the Ninja Academy began its new term.

Naruto set an alarm, got up early, washed up, and ran to the door of Haneda's room, pounding on it forcefully.

"Uncle Haneda! Stop being lazy and wake up!"

"Aren't you supposed to give a speech at the academy? Hurry up and let's go pick up Sasuke together!"

Given Haneda's ninja instincts, he had already sensed Naruto approaching his room.

He picked up the alarm clock on his bedside table, glanced at it—4:30 a.m., earlier than even his usual time to get up and make breakfast.

"Let me sleep a bit longer. It's way too early, Naruto."

Haneda said this, turned over, and went back to sleep, completely ignoring Naruto's racket outside.

Haku, hearing the commotion, walked over and smiled as he asked:

"Are you eager to meet up with Sasuke, Naruto?"

Naruto nodded enthusiastically and replied, "Yeah, we agreed to set out together!"

"That lazy Uncle Haneda just sleeps all day. And he's supposed to be the Hokage!"

Haku chuckled but didn't comment.

Naruto, however, suddenly felt a chill behind him. He turned to see Kimimaro standing there.

"Were you just badmouthing Lord Haneda?"

Kimimaro's icy voice sent shivers down Naruto's spine.

Naruto realized he had triggered Kimimaro's temper, so he scratched the back of his head and laughed nervously.

"Not at all! I just think Uncle Haneda needs to get enough rest so he can serve everyone better as Hokage."

Hearing Naruto's timid yet endearing response, Haku couldn't help but laugh.

"Alright, Naruto, let Uncle Haneda sleep a bit longer. I'll handle breakfast today."

"Do you need any help?" Kimimaro asked.

"Just help me chop the vegetables; your knife skills are better than mine."

With that, Haku headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

In Haneda's household, cooking was typically Haneda's responsibility. When he wasn't around, this task fell to Haku.

Most of the time, Kimimaro stayed out of the kitchen, but when it came to making breakfast for the beloved Lord Haneda, he was more than willing to help.

Listening in from his room, Haneda silently adjusted his alarm clock, delaying it by another half hour.

By the time breakfast was ready, Haneda was just stepping out of his room, fully dressed.

"Breakfast looks amazing today—rice balls, milk, vegetable salad, and fried sausages."

Haneda picked up his chopsticks, sat down, and began eating.

Looking at the crowded dining table, he felt a sense of warmth.

Suddenly, Naruto slammed down his chopsticks and shouted:

"I'm done! Uncle Haneda, hurry up and eat so we can leave earlier!"

"You're eager to pick up Sasuke, huh?" Kakashi's voice came from the window as he climbed in, smiling.

As Naruto's second guardian, he felt it was his duty to accompany Naruto to the entrance ceremony.

Besides, according to the tradition passed down from the previous four Hokages, Haneda was obligated to attend the opening ceremony, which might leave him with little time to accompany Naruto.

"Of course! I already promised Sasuke we'd leave together!" Naruto declared.

"Then let's get going."

Seeing that everyone was almost done eating, Haneda stood up and activated the Flying Thunder God Technique.

In an instant, everyone in the house was teleported to the entrance of Fugaku's residence.

At this moment, Itachi was standing at the door, holding a broom and sweeping the steps.

Sasuke stood by the gate, craning his neck to peer down the road, as if waiting for someone.

"Good morning, Sasuke-chan~"

Naruto suddenly appeared behind him, startling Sasuke.

"Naruto! Where did you come flying in from?!"

Seeing Sasuke's surprised expression, Naruto laughed gleefully.

"Haha! Uncle Haneda brought me over with his Flying Thunder God Technique!"

"Pretty amazing, huh? Isn't Uncle Haneda's Flying Thunder God super fast and super cool?"

Naruto noticed Itachi standing by the door with his broom and greeted him.

"Good morning, Itachi-nii!"

Itachi turned around, smiled warmly, and replied, "Good morning, Naruto. Isn't Uncle Haneda with you?"

"Uncle Haneda?"

Naruto spun around to look behind him—Haneda was nowhere to be seen.

Not just Haneda, but Kakashi and the others had also disappeared!

"Poor guy, looks like you're heading to school alone," Sasuke teased, unable to resist a jab. Then he added,

"Alright, guess my brother and I will have to take care of you again."

"Let's go, Naruto."

"Yeah, Sasuke."

Naruto caught up, walking side by side with Sasuke as they headed toward the Ninja Academy.

Meanwhile, Haneda and Kakashi, hiding on the rooftop, shared knowing smiles.

Haku, however, looked worried and said, "Lord Haneda, don't you think leaving Naruto alone with Sasuke might be too harsh?"

Kimimaro interrupted coldly, "Maybe Naruto's been waiting for this moment."

Seeing the two at odds again, Haneda sighed and tried to mediate.

"Itachi will take care of Naruto, and Sasuke is older and has always treated Naruto like a little brother."

"Let's get to the school ourselves."

Haneda once again activated the Flying Thunder God Technique, teleporting everyone on the rooftop to the academy's entrance.

Kakashi looked at the school gate and reminisced about an often-late classmate from his youth, sighing.

"If Obito had known the Flying Thunder God Technique, he wouldn't have been late every morning."

Hearing this, Haneda almost agreed, but then he remembered Obito's uncanny habit of helping old ladies cross the street and shook his head.

Haneda replied, "I'd bet he'd either show up at the last second or get delayed helping an old lady."

Suddenly, Haneda sensed someone watching him. Turning around, he saw Jiraiya.

Sure enough, Jiraiya had returned after handling matters in the Hidden Cloud, unable to let go of his concern for Naruto.

"Kakashi, take Haku and the others to meet the teachers. I'll go talk to someone."

"Who?"

"Minato's teacher—Jiraiya."

"Lord Jiraiya? He's probably here to check on Naruto. Don't worry, I'll handle things on my end."

After entrusting Kakashi with the group, Haneda teleported to Jiraiya, who was hiding behind a bush not far away.

Jiraiya had already noticed him and greeted him with a grin.

"Yo, Haneda! Why aren't you with Kakashi? Don't you have a speech to give at the ceremony?"

"Why is Lord Jiraiya hiding behind a bush instead of working in his office? Waiting for Naruto, perhaps?"

Jiraiya, caught red-handed, didn't deny it and admitted openly:

"I came to check on Naruto. Speaking of which, isn't he supposed to be with you?"

Haneda smiled and replied, "He's with his best friend right now, on his way here."

"Sasuke? Those two seem to have a special bond."

Jiraiya immediately thought of how Sasuke had been patiently guiding Naruto, and the dynamic reminded him of his youth.

Back then, the jutsu Jiraiya didn't understand had often been taught to him by Orochimaru.

Even chasing after Tsunade…

Recalling the times he was sold out by Orochimaru, Jiraiya burst into laughter.

"With a friend like Sasuke, Naruto will have a great time growing up."

"Come to think of it, Naruto's personality is a lot like mine, while Sasuke's talent reminds me of Orochimaru. But personality-wise… well, Sasuke's far from Orochimaru."
