(Karma Mark in usual, is a special mark that could act as an anchor for the souls of matured Otsutsukis. These marks can only be used by high ranking and powerful otsutsuki clan members. These marks hold the powers and experiences of the otsutsuki. The person or the living being who bear the mark can use many of the abilities and powers of the otsutsuki until the mark matures and the otsutsuki takes over the body of the living being.

Karma mark type 8.69.69, is a special type of Karma mark that doesn't have the soul anchor of an otsutsuki. So it doesn't contain any experience of the otsutsuki. This mark has three primary functions.

First function: It can absorb, store and release anything that contains and is related to Chakra. But it cannot Store anything in which the Chakra is molded into a very complex pattern using fuinjutsu.

Second function: It will slowly turn the host's body into a high ranking pure blooded otsutsuki overtime while retaining the current physical appearance.

Third function: Upon maturing completely, it will give the host the ability to override divine commandment through Chakra.)

"Aarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhh !" For a brief moment a very painful sensation shot through my entire body before it slowly subsided.

After a couple of seconds only a throbbing pain remained in my arm.

Looking at the palm of my left hand I found a diamond shaped mark on it. The diamond mark was surrounded by two half moon patterns diagonally.

Upon confirming that I have gained the Karma mark, I immediately changed my position. My shout must have alerted the nearby Anbu. After all, I was a little loud.

As soon as Hiruzen heard the muffled sound of the explosion and felt the earthquake coming from the direction of the village, he immediately abandoned the idea of finding out Shisui or whoever the attacker was.

"Tora ! Gecko ! Quick ! Let's return to the village !"

Hiruzen didn't even wait for his subordinates as he immediately used body flicker technique to get to the village as fast as possible. His mind was utter chaos. He couldn't fathom what had happened to cause such a massive explosion and an earthquake.

Earthquakes in the land of fire were very rare. It was very common in the land of Earth. But the last earthquake that happened in the land of fire was when he was still a genin under the second hokage. And it was a small one. The earthquake of that magnitude meant that it was caused artificially.

'Did the Uchiha already launch an attack ? Or did the nine tails manage to break free ?' Hiruzen asked himself in his mind. The third possible reason, Tsunade was not in the village. So Hiruzen could only think of these two reasons.

As soon as he appeared on the village wall, Hiruzen's eyes widened in shock and horror. The Western civilian market district was completely destroyed. In fact there was a massive hole with a diameter of around 30 meters around the point of impact. Fortunately the earthquake happened a few seconds after the explosion. That allowed the shinobis, present nearby, to get away from the point of impact. Hiruzen could already see many shinobi clearing up the rubbles and were rescuing civilians. The effect of the impact was reduced significantly the farther it went away from the massive hole in the ground.

So it was obvious that despite feeling the earthquake, its origin was from an underground explosion.

Most of the houses in Konoha, especially the houses in the clan lands, were Hashirama Senju. So they were unharmed.

Looking at the hokage mountain, Hiruzen's eyes became grimmer when he saw the cracked Rock faces of the hokages. The entire structure will have to be destroyed and be rebuilt. Otherwise it will pose a threat of landslides in the future.

Not even for a moment the thought of using Earth nature Chakra to repair and strengthen the rock faces, came to his mind. As a shinobi he could only think about Chakra as a weapon for killing other humans.

"Hokage sama !" Kakashi, who was in his Anbu uniform, immediately appeared beside Hiruzen to tell him about the incident.

"Inu, what happened here ?" Hiruzen asked immediately.

"Hokage sama, we don't understand either. There was a muffled sound of explosion before the ground in that area completely crumbled away followed by an earthquake that originated from that area. The western part of the village is mostly destroyed. Almost all of the buildings surrounding that area are destroyed. While we have reacted to any shinobi casualty, we have confirmed 121 civilian deaths. The number is still rising considering many of them have been buried under the rubbles of the crumbled buildings." Kakashi, as the chief of the Anbu, answered immediately.

"Quick ! Put the village on high alert. It is code red. Recruit anyone necessary and investigate the matter immediately !" Hiruzen ordered Kakashi as he flickered away to the area where there was a deep hole on the ground.

After inspecting the area, his eyes widened in shock again.

"The depth of the whole…. Could it be root headquarters ?" Hiruzen muttered to himself as he realized that the situation had turned even more chaotic.

"..." Shisui could only look in the direction of the village helplessly. After summoning his crow and sending it to Itachi he could barely use any Chakra. Even moving Chakra through his tenketsu caused his body immense pain. The reality was cruel. In this time the reality was that he had gotten poisoned. Apart from his missing eye, he had no other physical injuries. But the way his Chakra was fading away, he didn't have much time to live. He just hoped that Itachi would reach him in time.

He didn't know what was going on in the village, but at the end of his life, he could only wish that it wasn't destroyed. Shisui was one of those fellows who was thoroughly brain washed by the will of Fire from a very young age. The will of fire was a curse to every genius. It was exactly as its name implies. Naturally they became attracted to the fire and came towards it. And their ultimate fate, burning away to create embers, that might attract another insect flying far away.

Being a genius doesn't mean that they were not children. And almost all of the children despite being geniuses, at the end of the day were nothing more than blank Canvas. So brainwashing them was quite easy. Naruko understood very well that erasing the painting that has already been painted wouldn't be easy. But she could just tear apart the piece of cloth and replace it with a new one.

Fortunately for Shisui, Itachi was not a completely lost cause like him. That's why in between the village, clan and brother, Itachi, the bro-con Uchiha chose the last option without a hesitation. If Sasuke would never have been born then Itachi might have just turned vengeful against the village after eradicating the clan or he would have simply sided with his Clan from the very beginning.

"Shisui !" The familiar voice of Itachi filled Shisui's heart with relief. At that moment he could finally give his other eye to his best friend before doing what was necessary.
