Chapter 410: Ch.410 Granting Spirituality
Hidden Leaf Village, Ninja Academy.
During a break, as Uchiha Shinji rested his head on his desk, eyes closed, a classmate suddenly rushed to their classroom door and shouted, "Hurry! Sasuke's about to spar with Kimimaro! Come watch!"
"What!?"
"Where? The training field?"
"A long-awaited clash of prodigies—this I gotta see!"
Instantly, the classroom erupted, students swarming toward the training field below.
Shinji slowly lifted his head, glancing out the window to see Sasuke and Kimimaro indeed facing off on the field.
On the training field.
Sasuke stretched his wrists, a smirk tugging at his lips, "Kimimaro, after all this time, you finally accepted my challenge!"
Kimimaro, his face pale, said, "I just wanted to test myself against the Sharingan. Too bad, in this village, you're the only one I could find…"
"Test yourself against the Sharingan? Hmph, I'll give you an unforgettable experience!"
Sasuke snorted, activating his Sharingan. His dark eyes turned a vivid crimson.
Kimimaro studied Sasuke's Sharingan for a moment, then asked, "Can we start?"
Sasuke nodded, gesturing toward Kimimaro, "Of course! You, without any dojutsu, go first. I don't want to take advantage of you!"
In the classroom, Shinji frowned slightly.
Having implanted the 'biological exoskeleton' in Kimimaro, Shinji, through Jikibi's connection, knew Kimimaro's physical condition better than Kimimaro himself.
The exoskeleton had been improving Kimimaro's physique, and the Shikotsumyaku chakra it absorbed had somewhat slowed his illness's progression. But the disease's worsening still exceeded both Shinji's and Orochimaru's expectations.
Both he and Orochimaru had advised Kimimaro to reduce his training to ease his body's burden.
But Kimimaro refused to listen. Perhaps, in his mind, if he became useless, his existence lost all meaning.
Thus, despite his worsening condition, he never let up on himself.
"What's he trying to do? If this continues, even the exoskeleton won't reverse his illness…"
Shinji shook his head, puzzled.
Thud, thud, thud.
The spar between Kimimaro and Sasuke began below.
Kimimaro stuck to his fierce, rapid style, using speed to close in on Sasuke and launching a flurry of aggressive attacks.
To Shinji's surprise, Sasuke didn't falter. Leveraging the insight of his three-tomoe Sharingan, he matched Kimimaro blow for blow.
Whoosh. Shinji stood from his seat in the classroom.
He stared intently at Sasuke on the field, thinking, "What's going on? It's only been a month—how did his dojutsu grow so much?"
Unbeknownst to Shinji, when he had chased Otsutsuki Toneri alone, Sasuke endured immense pain and self-blame.
That experience had triggered a significant surge in Sasuke's dojutsu power.
Shinji's solo defeat of Toneri had also deeply rattled Sasuke, driving him to train relentlessly over the past month while Shinji was busy taking Neji to siphon Tenseigan chakra.
Their spar quickly drew more rookies to watch.
The training field echoed with gasps and cheers, the crowd's shouts rising like a tidal wave during the most thrilling moments!
At the sidelines.
Tenten asked Neji, "Neji, who do you think will win?"
Neji's eyes were glued to the field, as if he hadn't heard.
After waiting, Tenten nudged him, "Neji, I'm asking you! Who do you think will win?"
"Oh," Neji snapped back, saying, "Probably Kimimaro."
Yakumo chimed in, shaking her head, "Hard to say. Sasuke's an Uchiha—they're different from other ninja clans! Kimimaro hasn't fully gained the upper hand yet, so things don't look great for him."
Shion said, "Yakumo, you think Sasuke will win?"
"Mm!"
Yakumo nodded slightly.
The leader who changed her life was an Uchiha, and the one who kept her from claiming the top student title at the academy was also an Uchiha.
She had a unique attachment to the Uchiha clan that others couldn't fathom.
Neji glanced at Yakumo, then looked away, his tone firm, "No, Kimimaro will definitely win!"
Like Yakumo, Neji had his own reasons.
He didn't know Kimimaro carried the other half of the 'biological exoskeleton,' but through a faint sense between the exoskeletons, he felt Kimimaro wasn't using his full strength.
The sensation was strange, akin to the instinctive resonance he felt near the massive Tenseigan, causing his earlier distraction.
In the classroom.
"Huh!"
Sensing something, Shinji let out a soft gasp, his face flashing with disbelief.
His gaze shifted from Kimimaro, locked in combat, to Neji at the sidelines, thinking, "Without my Wazunagi creating a void passage, the half exoskeleton in Neji resonated with the half in Kimimaro? How is that possible? Is it because they're too close?"
This phenomenon stunned Shinji, the exoskeleton's designer.
By design, without Jikibi and Wazunagi working together, the two halves shouldn't be capable of resonating.
There was no such function built in.
"That's strange—why is this happening?" Pausing, a spark lit in Shinji's mind, "Could it be because of the Tenseigan chakra?!"
The realization hit him—Tenseigan chakra could indeed imbue inanimate objects with spirituality.
The Tenseigan puppets on the moon, without puppeteers, relied on the low-level spirituality granted by Tenseigan chakra for routine patrols and maintenance.
The 'biological exoskeleton' he created was a cradle of cellular tissue and chakra. Compared to cold mechanical puppets, it was far more conducive to nurturing spirituality.
"Could Tenseigan chakra really do this?! Did it… did it grant spirituality to the half exoskeleton in Neji?"
Realizing this possibility, Shinji was dumbfounded, scarcely believing it.
