Naruto: Uchiha Madara's Cousin

Chapter 137: 137. I Was Playing With You

"Huh? I'm not close to the Hagoromo clan leader's wife."

Uchiha Tajima frowned at Uchiha Gin's odd question and explained.

After all, what did friendships between men have to do with women?

"The clan leader's wife does have a fame,'" Tajima patiently explained, thinking that Uchiha Gin was curious about the past powerhouses.

"Because of her ruthless ways and cruel methods, she's been given the nickname 'Demoness.'"

Tsk! Isn't that pretty much the same thing?

"Alright, alright, I'll take it."

Not wanting to be affected by such déjà vu-like news, Uchiha Gin quickly stuffed the scroll into his bag, stood up, and bowed slightly.

"Uncle, now that the mission is done, can I finally slack off in the dungeon and wait for death?"

His dead-fish eyes gleamed with anticipation, dreaming of the blissful days ahead.

"Well, let's talk about that later. For now... we need to prioritize the bigger picture," Uchiha Tajima replied vaguely, his eyes darting around, which Uchiha Gin, being sharp, immediately noticed. Gin frowned and asked, "Uncle, is something wrong?"

"Ah, looks like I can't hide it from you. I was hoping you could rest for a while."

Hearing Gin's question, Tajima perked up, a hint of "guilt" in his tone. "There's indeed something I need to tell you privately."

Tajima glanced at the two women nearby, who were lost in their own thoughts.

"Hikari, Haruka, you've worked hard on this mission. Go home and rest. I'll collect your rewards for you."

"See you, Gin-san!"

Even Haruka, who wasn't always the sharpest, could sense that Tajima had something important to discuss, so she made a timely exit.

"Gin, make sure to come home early~" Hikari waved her hand, not saying much. She trusted Tajima, after all, they were practically family now.

The two women left the office together, and once their footsteps faded, only Uchiha Gin and Uchiha Tajima remained.

"Uncle, if you have something to say, just spit it out. Don't leave the readers hanging," Uchiha Gin said in his signature deadpan voice, reminding him.

"Of course I know that."

Hearing his nephew's words, Tajima, who had been planning to beat around the bush, suddenly looked displeased. He paused, gathering his thoughts as the nearby candle flickered.

Gin waited patiently, eager to hear what could be so important that his uncle had to send everyone else away.

"Madara... lost."

Tajima finally said it, as if the words had drained all his energy.

"What? Cousin... died?" Gin, thinking he'd misheard, cleaned his ears only to find they were perfectly fine. He looked up and asked again.

He was fine when he left. How could he be gone now?

"No, he didn't die! He lost! To that brat from the Senju clan."

Oh! Thank goodness. For a moment, Gin thought his cousin was dead. If that were the case, without learning Rinne Rebirth, he'd have to wait for Madara to play cards with the Sage of Six Paths in the afterlife before bringing him back.

"He lost? So what? It's not like it's his first time."

Gin sighed in relief. Losing to that bowl-cut head wasn't such a big deal. They'd fought during the war, and both sides had won and lost.

"This time is different. Madara was crushed, defeated by the Senju brat in one move. He didn't even have a chance to resist."

If it were a normal loss, Tajima wouldn't be making such a fuss. But this time, things were really different.

"Tell me more."

Gin raised an eyebrow, urging him on.

Damn it, I'm only gone for a few days and I miss this kind of juicy drama?

"Before that, you may not know yet, but the Senju clan has a new leader."

Tajima mentioned another matter before diving into the story of Madara.

"That was fast! Senju Butsuma hasn't even passed the seven-day mourning period, right?"

Gin, who already knew the answer, couldn't help but mock. That sneaky old man from Senju nearly sent me to the next world with one punch back then.

"Probably because the matter with the Hagoromo clan has been resolved. That brat chose this moment to take over."

Tajima had learned from mission reports that the Senju had ceased pursuing the Hagoromo clan and deduced they must have closed that chapter.

"Three days ago, the Senju clan officially announced Hashirama as the new leader. On the same day, their army had already regrouped."

Tajima's eyes gleamed strangely as he spoke, his tone indifferent. "War has started again."

"No wonder. Those unfamiliar faces outside must be clan members who have been stationed elsewhere for years."

Gin realized, remembering the unfamiliar guard at the clan's gate. He nodded in understanding.

"Exactly. I've already recalled our long-term mission members and border guards. The Senju clan is determined to settle this once and for all."

Tajima clenched his teeth. He'd hoped that with Butsuma gone, the Senju would quiet down, letting them toy with them like a ball. But this new leader seemed far more ruthless.

"Enough about that. What happened to cousin?"

"Madara was at the frontlines, facing that new Senju leader..."

"Report! The Senju have appeared! They're attacking our camp!"

Madara and Izuna, having just returned to the front, stood up upon hearing the report and went to investigate.

With their Sharingan active, their vision was greatly enhanced, allowing them to clearly see the dense crowd in the distance. Leading them was the man Madara had been obsessed with defeating.

"Hashirama! You're looking for a fight again, aren't you?"

Whenever Madara encountered Hashirama, his usual icy demeanor vanished, replaced by a wicked grin. He drew his sword and charged forward, blocking Hashirama, who stood resolute.

"Madara, this time, I must win."

Wearing a headband with the Senju clan crest and clad in red armor, Hashirama glanced at the Senju warriors behind him, their expectant gazes heavy on his shoulders. He took a deep breath and, with unwavering resolve, addressed his former best friend.

"Hahaha! Are you trying to make me laugh? Hashirama, when did you become so funny?"

Hearing Hashirama's serious tone, Madara didn't take it to heart. Instead, he raised his sword, his battle spirit soaring.

"I've seen through your moves! This time, you'll be the one to lose!"

Madara had replayed countless battles with Uchiha Gin in his mind, crafting a strategy specifically to counter Wood Release. Confident, he was determined to claim victory this time.

"Forgive me, Madara, I..."

As Madara rushed at him, Hashirama's heart tightened, but his hands didn't hesitate. Clapping them together, a faint blue light surged from his palms.

With a flood of chakra, massive tree branches erupted from the ground, surging toward Madara like a tidal wave.

"Hmph! I've already seen through this technique."

Unlike before, Madara didn't confront the Wood Release with Fire Release. Instead, he used his enhanced vision from the Sharingan to dodge the clumsy branches, charging at Hashirama with blinding speed.

"I must now carry the hopes of my entire clan."

Hashirama's calm eyes locked onto Madara. Just as Madara's sword was about to strike him, Hashirama swung his fist, knocking the blade aside. "Because now, I am the leader of the Senju clan!"

Before Madara could react, a massive wooden hand emerged from the dust, gripping him tightly.

As the smoke cleared, a massive wooden figure resembling a statue appeared, its plump body imposing but radiating an aura of majesty. The sheer force of its presence left the onlookers in awe.

Wood Style: Wood Golem Jutsu

"Is that... the clan leader's secret technique?"

A Senju clansman stared at the enormous wood golem, unable to stop himself from trembling in awe.

"Long live the clan leader!"

"The Senju clan is unstoppable now!"

"Sorry, Madara."

Standing atop the wood golem's head, Hashirama gazed down at Madara, who struggled helplessly in the golem's grip, a hint of apology in his eyes.

"Well done, big brother!"

At some point, Tobirama, clad in similar but differently colored armor, had appeared on the battlefield. Seeing his brother finally take decisive action against the evil Uchiha, he couldn't help but shout in excitement.

"Now, finish him!"

Tobirama urged. Hashirama had just assumed leadership and needed to establish his authority, and killing Madara would be the perfect way to do so.

Hashirama's Wood Release had a unique ability to absorb chakra. In the golem's grip, Madara's energy was being drained rapidly, leaving him weak and unable to maintain his Sharingan.

"Hashirama! I didn't expect you to hold back so much power."

Madara, feeling utterly drained, glared at Hashirama with weary eyes, biting back his words.

"Hehe, I was just playing with you before."
