Chapter 80: Chapter 80
The image within the crystal ball was that of the Ninja Academy classroom.
Everything that had just unfolded in Naruto's class was clearly seen by the Third Hokage.
Hiruzen sighed and shook his head in resignation.
"Of all people to become friends… it had to be those two—Uzumaki Naruto and Kurama Yakumo."
From the chair beside him, Danzo scoffed coldly.
"One's the Jinchūriki of the Kyūbi, the other a girl prone to violent outbursts. If you ask me, you should've handed both over to me."
Hiruzen's brow twitched, shooting a glare at his old rival.
You really never miss a chance, do you?
The moment you see a promising candidate, you're already trying to claim them.
Naruto aside—just Yakumo alone—if Danzo really got his hands on her, it wouldn't take two years. In just two months, he'd have her trying to assassinate Hiruzen.
Hiruzen shook his head.
"No matter what, they're still children. If properly guided, they'll change."
Danzo sneered internally.
Guided? You mean brainwashed.
He had to admit, Hiruzen's manipulation techniques were on another level—he'd even managed to turn Uchiha Itachi, son of the clan head.
No wonder I always lose to you. Your mind games are terrifying.
Still, Danzo's tone turned frosty.
"Whatever you say, Hiruzen, you must do something about Kurama Yakumo."
"She's only about eleven, yet already possesses power nearing that of an elite jōnin."
"And with a twisted personality, only listening to Naruto… If left unchecked, even Naruto might be dragged down with her."
"I know!" Hiruzen rubbed his temples in frustration.
"But you know as well as I do—the Kurama clan's kekkei genkai is powerful. Their genjutsu surpasses even that of the Uchiha."
"Especially Yakumo. Ever since she tamed the demon inside her, her illusions have become even more terrifying—controlling all five senses."
"Her true genjutsu is so powerful it even defeated Yūhi Kurenai…"
The more he thought about it, the worse his headache grew.
He honestly couldn't think of anyone in the village capable of teaching this problematic girl.
Danzo snorted.
"And that's exactly why you should turn her over to Root. With us, she can be properly controlled."
"Forget it," Hiruzen immediately rejected the idea.
"She would never agree. And besides… Naruto has finally made a friend."
"Hiruzen!"
Danzo stood up in anger, slamming his palm on the desk.
"These two are dangerous! I know you want to control the Nine-Tails' Jinchūriki, but you must think of Konoha's safety!"
"Danzo, don't forget—I am still the Hokage."
Hiruzen's gaze sharpened.
"I will handle these two. I won't let them endanger the village."
Seeing Danzo practically fuming, Hiruzen calmly switched topics.
"Let's put that aside. What about the Akatsuki? I asked you to contact their leader. Did they agree to the job?"
That question finally drew Danzo's attention back.
He sat down again, face dark.
"They agreed. They'll arrive soon."
Hiruzen nodded.
"And you're sure they're capable of wiping out the Uchiha clan?"
Danzo's expression grew grimmer.
"More or less. You know their members are all S-rank missing-nin. They've participated in many wars under mercenary contracts."
"From what I know, at least three or four of them are at the elite jōnin level. Otherwise, no one would hire them."
"And don't forget—they have Uchiha Itachi. If even they can't handle the Uchiha…"
Danzo's eyes gleamed with murderous light.
"…then Root will intervene and finish the job."
Hiruzen slowly nodded.
"That's fine. This is all for Konoha's peace. Sacrifices must be made."
His own eyes grew cold.
"And if even you can't do it, Danzo… I'll use that jutsu."
Danzo's heart trembled, but soon he was overjoyed.
With Hiruzen's commitment, the Uchiha clan's downfall was now certain.
And once they were eliminated—hundreds of fully-matured Sharingan eyes would fall into his hands…
Danzo's fingers twitched in anticipation. Subconsciously, he reached for his bandaged right arm.
Underneath the wrappings…
A blood-red Sharingan slowly opened.
The two continued discussing further details of the massacre. Only after everything was finalized did Danzo leave, fully satisfied.
To him—
A hundred "maybes" in the forest are worth less than one bird in hand.
Whether he could get his hands on Naruto or Yakumo was secondary.
But the Uchiha clan's Sharingan—that was real, tangible power.
And that, he would not miss.
—
After Danzo departed, Hiruzen once again looked into the crystal ball and rubbed his temple.
"Kakashi, come in."
A blur of movement. Moments later, a masked ANBU wearing a fox mask knelt before him.
"Hokage-sama."
Hiruzen nodded.
"If I asked you to mentor Kurama Yakumo, do you think your Sharingan could see through her illusions?"
He knew Kakashi's Sharingan provided strong resistance to genjutsu.
Kakashi hesitated for a few seconds.
"It would be difficult. My Sharingan isn't enough to pierce her illusions. Her genjutsu… is real."
"If we fought, I'd have to rely on high-powered AoE jutsu just to force her back…"
"In terms of teaching her… I don't think I'm suitable."
"…I understand." Hiruzen sighed.
"Dismissed."
Once Kakashi left, Hiruzen stared into the crystal ball again.
"Looks like the only way… is through Naruto."
"If anyone can restrain that troublesome girl, it's him."
—
That evening, at Naruto's house.
"Me? Teach Yakumo?"
The blond boy looked at Hiruzen in disbelief.
He never imagined Hiruzen would seriously try this route.
Asking him to supervise Kurama Yakumo? That was like sending a wolf to tame a tiger.
No—more like teaming up two devils.
Yakumo was already his subordinate.
And now Hiruzen wanted him to be her mentor?
But Hiruzen seemed quite pleased with himself.
He smiled warmly and said:
"Naruto, Yakumo is a poor, unfortunate girl. Her personality can be… difficult…"
"But she's your friend. You must guide her. Help her. Be a good influence."
"Only then can she grow into a respected shinobi."
Naruto gave a solemn nod.
"I understand. I'll do my best to help her."
Hiruzen nodded with satisfaction.
—
The next morning, at the Ninja Academy.
Naruto and Yakumo walked in together.
The moment Yakumo spotted Haruno Sakura, Yamanaka Ino, and the rest of the fangirls, she abruptly stopped and shouted coldly:
"You—stop right there!"
