Chapter 78: Chapter 78
An invisible genjutsu radiated from Yakumo's fingers.
In an instant, the fangirls in the class changed expression, screaming in terror as they flailed about, eyes darting frantically:
"Snakes! So many snakes! Don't come any closer…!"
"AAAAHHHHH!!!"
"There's one crawling up my leg!"
"They're going to drown me! Don't bite me—please—!"
"Help! AHHHHH!!!"
Desperate, blood-curdling cries echoed through the classroom, so loud they carried throughout the entire ninja academy.
The other students, the normal ones, looked around in utter confusion.
"What… What are they yelling about? There's no snakes," Inuzuka Kiba said, pointing at Yamanaka Ino, who was shrieking on the floor.
The rest of the students exchanged bewildered glances.
To their eyes, it looked like those fangirls were just rolling around the classroom, flailing wildly and slapping themselves as if trying to remove something invisible.
They even kicked over a few desks and chairs in their panic.
"No… It's genjutsu," Nara Shikamaru muttered with sweat on his forehead. "Ino and the others have been caught in some kind of large-scale illusion…"
Even as he spoke, Shikamaru was deeply shocked—and afraid.
He had never heard of genjutsu capable of affecting so many people at once.
The fear came from the fact that a jōnin had just cast a jutsu on students.
That was a serious offense—one that could even be punishable by death.
Suddenly, Kiba sniffed the air, catching the scent of blood. He turned and locked eyes on Sakura.
The moment he saw her, his eyes widened to the extreme.
"Blood! She's bleeding!"
There, on Haruno Sakura's arm, was the deep bite mark of a venomous snake—its fangs had sunk in deep, and blood dripped steadily onto the floor.
Now, the rest of the class couldn't stay calm.
"H-Holy crap! That's a snake bite!"
"Didn't Shikamaru say it was just an illusion?"
"W-We're done for! That shinobi is gonna kill us! RUN!!"
"Where are the snakes?! I don't see anything!!"
Looking down, Sakura's pants were soaked—she had wet herself from fear.
Naruto finally stood up and walked toward Yakumo, patting her shoulder.
"That's enough, Yakumo. I know they were out of line, but a little scare is enough."
Yakumo pouted, clearly still upset.
"But Naruto-kun… they were way too much. Talking about you like that… when it was Sasuke who provoked you first…"
Naruto smiled faintly, brushing it off.
"They're still my classmates. What, are you gonna kill them?"
A flicker of hesitation appeared in Yakumo's eyes. Clearly, she had seriously considered it.
"Stop now," Naruto said again, firmer this time.
"Fine…" Yakumo reluctantly replied, puffing her cheeks before dispelling the genjutsu.
Even after the illusion was lifted, the fangirls continued screaming, pale-faced, swatting at their bodies as if still covered in snakes.
Haruno Sakura finally came back to her senses, tears brimming in her eyes as she looked toward Sasuke in panic.
"Sasuke-kun! Help me!! There were so many snakes! They were biting me—so many—"
She stumbled toward Sasuke on all fours, desperate to be saved by the boy she adored.
But before she could reach him, a pair of legs appeared before her.
Looking up, she saw the cold, unyielding gaze of Kurama Yakumo.
"You treated Naruto-kun like trash, and now you want him to save you?"
Yakumo raised her hand—and SLAP!
Sakura flew to the floor, clutching her cheek.
"Stop! That hurts!"
She felt like her skull had nearly exploded. Her vision blurred, and her mouth ached from the blow.
But even as Sakura begged, Yakumo showed no sign of stopping.
She had heard too many stories from Naruto about this girl.
How Sakura constantly belittled him just to elevate Uchiha Sasuke. How she always treated Naruto like garbage.
Yakumo had wanted to deal with her for a long time.
Now, she had the perfect opportunity.
She was a recognized tokubetsu jōnin. And no one could stop her.
Yakumo's palm continued to fly, and soon Sakura's face was red and swollen. She shrieked with every slap.
Sasuke finally stepped forward to intervene.
But the moment he met Yakumo's glare—
"You wanna die?"
Cold sweat streamed down Sasuke's forehead.
He knew.
This woman wasn't bluffing.
She would actually kill him.
He froze on the spot, not daring to take another step.
The chaos quickly attracted attention. Soon, all the teachers—including Iruka—rushed into the classroom.
Seeing the mess—the overturned furniture, the trembling students, the panicked screams—Iruka's eyes blazed with fury.
"Special Jōnin Kurama Yakumo, stop right there! Why are you attacking my students?!"
He reached out to grab her hand.
Yakumo's eyes turned icy.
She activated her kekkei genkai, drawing power from her inner demon, Ido.
In a flash, all the teachers staggered back in fear, staring around them.
"Fire! There's fire everywhere!! It's coming toward us!!"
"Genjutsu! This has to be genjutsu! I heard this girl's illusions are even stronger than Yūhi Kurenai's—or the Uchiha's…"
"No—it's not an illusion! It hurts! I'm burning alive!!"
"What do we do!? Should we use a Water Release jutsu?!"
Chaos.
Pure, flaming chaos.
Naruto couldn't help but smirk at the mess.
"All right, Yakumo. Let them out."
Yakumo pouted again but complied, letting out a cold snort before dissolving the genjutsu.
The teachers gasped for breath, wiping sweat from their foreheads, looking at Yakumo in shock.
They couldn't believe it.
This girl—just three years older than Naruto—had completely overwhelmed seven or eight chūnin.
If Naruto hadn't stepped in, they might've actually died.
Still watching Yakumo slap Sakura, Iruka panicked and turned to Naruto.
"Please! Stop her, Naruto! If this goes on, Sakura might fall unconscious!"
Naruto nodded slightly.
"Yakumo, that's enough. You've made your point. Stop hitting Sakura."
But Yakumo still fumed.
She grabbed Sakura by the hair and growled:
"No! This girl went too far. I have to make sure she never dares bully you again, Naruto-kun!"
