Naruto: Transmigrated as Obito with the System

Chapter 184: Chapter 184: Obito the Dutiful Grandson

Obito leapt onto Isobu's massive back, poking and prodding at the giant turtle with an expression of childlike curiosity.

"Wow, look at this! What a huge turtle!"

He tapped Isobu's shell again and mused, "If we made soup with this guy, it'd probably be super nutritious, huh?"

Madara shot him a deadpan look. "Cut it out, grandson."

Obito froze.

Is he insulting me? I feel like he is, but I have no proof.

With that, the grandparent-grandchild duo, accompanied by their newly acquired giant turtle, began making their way back to the hideout.

Along the way, Obito repeatedly suggested using his Mangekyō Sharingan to seal Isobu into a pocket dimension.

However, Madara rejected the idea every single time, offering vague excuses.

He's probably worried I'll pocket the turtle for myself, Obito thought with a smirk.

Back at the hideout, Obito couldn't help but ask curiously, "Grandpa Madara, what's the next step?"

Having watched Naruto, Obito knew the sealing process for tailed beasts was no simple feat. Nagato had required ten ninja to serve as conduits just to activate the Gedo Statue and use the Phantom Dragons Nine Consuming Seals. The collective strength of those ten shinobi was the only thing that could force open the statue's mouth to seal a tailed beast.

And now here's Madara, an aging old man whose ocular power has dwindled to practically nothing…

If he can't even seal one tailed beast, this is going to be hilarious.

Obito's schadenfreude was evident as he awaited the show.

But Madara simply glanced at him, utterly unfazed.

"It's simple. Just watch."

What happened next completely shattered Obito's expectations.

Madara formed the Ram hand seal and uttered a low command: "Rise."

The ground trembled as the massive head of the Gedo Statue emerged, looming ominously above them.

The statue's mouth opened wide in a soundless roar, and two beams of light shot out, resembling dragons as they coiled through the air.

Madara maintained the Ram seal with his right hand while crossing it with his left to form the Tiger seal.

"Seal!"

The beams of light transformed into glowing chains that wrapped around Isobu, dragging the beast toward the gaping mouth of the Gedo Statue.

As the process unfolded, Isobu's massive form began to shrink until it was reduced to a glowing orb. The orb was then devoured by the statue, whose mouth snapped shut with finality.

The Gedo Statue's single eye snapped open, its gaze cold and emotionless as it stared at the two shinobi.

Obito was floored. "This can't be real…"

The entire process, from the initial hand seal to the sealing's completion, had taken mere minutes.

Compared to Nagato's tedious and resource-draining Phantom Dragons Nine Consuming Seals, Madara's method was as effortless as changing a lightbulb.

Seeing the dumbfounded expression on Obito's face, Madara's lips curled into a rare, smug smile.

"Obito, there are still eight more tailed beasts left. How many can you help your grandfather take care of?"

Obito pretended to consider before replying, "The Eight-Tails' jinchūriki might be a bit tricky, but the rest should be manageable. How about this: you handle the final act and take care of the Eight-Tails' jinchūriki. I'll handle the other seven tailed beasts with the organization."

Madara's smile deepened in satisfaction. His grandson was proving to be more reliable than he'd anticipated, taking on the bulk of the workload without hesitation.

He may be annoying at times, but at least he's dependable when it counts.

For a moment, Madara felt a rare flicker of emotion. This grandson of his treated the Eye of the Moon Plan as if it were his own mission.

"Thank you, Obito," Madara said sincerely.

Obito replied with equal seriousness, "You're welcome, Grandpa."

But inwardly, Obito grinned.

Don't thank me yet. Once I steal the Ten-Tails from you, let's see if you're still so polite.

Catching Madara's gaze, Obito's lips involuntarily curled into a grin.

Crap! Why can't I control my face?!

Acting on instinct, Obito slapped himself hard across the cheek, cutting off his urge to laugh.

The sudden smack startled Black Zetsu, who had been preparing to melt into the ground.

Obito rubbed his cheek and said earnestly, "Grandpa, I'll go ahead and start gathering the organization members. We need to plan our next steps."

Madara nodded in approval. "Go ahead, Obito."

With that, Obito disappeared in a blur, his Sharingan flaring.

...

In the Land of Fields,

Obito announced the organization's upcoming meeting.

However, it would take at least half a month for everyone to gather.

In Orochimaru's office, Obito sat casually on the desk, his legs crossed as he gazed at the snake-like shinobi.

"Orochimaru, how's the task I gave you coming along?"

Orochimaru gave a thin, bitter smile. "Lord Obito, I've found some clues, but I'll need more time."

Obito frowned. "If you can't locate Uchiha Izuna, fine. But what's the holdup with the summoning scrolls for the First and Second Hokage?"

A flicker of something unreadable passed through Orochimaru's eyes. Bowing slightly to conceal his expression, he replied, "My focus has been entirely on finding Uchiha Izuna. That's why…"

"I could explain my recent progress—"

Obito waved him off impatiently. "No need. Forget Izuna for now."

Good. He bought it! Orochimaru thought with a trace of relief.

Obito stood and patted Orochimaru on the shoulder. "I have a new task for you. I need you to locate the remains of two individuals urgently."

Orochimaru's smile froze.

Again?!

Summoning his courage, Orochimaru asked, "Lord Obito, who might these two individuals be this time?"

"Have you heard of the Gold and Silver Brothers? The two elite jonin of Kumogakure?" Obito asked.

Orochimaru's tongue flicked out as he grinned. "I've certainly heard of them."

The infamous brothers, Kinkaku and Ginkaku, were known as the Two Lights of Kumo. Their legendary exploits included killing the Second Raikage and cornering the Second Hokage, forcing him to sacrifice himself.

Obito clapped Orochimaru on the shoulder.

"I want their summoning scrolls within a month. If you succeed, I'll share that piece of intel you've been after."

Orochimaru's eyes gleamed.

Compared to finding Uchiha Izuna, retrieving the Gold and Silver Brothers' remains seemed like a walk in the park.

"Rest assured. I won't disappoint you."

Obito's gaze turned sharp. "You'd better not. If you delay my plans, there will be consequences."

Orochimaru's smile faltered as unease rippled through him.
