Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Kumogakure and Kirigakure Seeking Peace?
"The jinchūriki imprisoned in the village—what's their current status?"
Squinting slightly, Tobirama posed the question.
Rōshi, Utakata, and Fū—these three jinchūriki were all confined in Konoha's prison. Tobirama was concerned about the potential risk of their tailed beasts going berserk in his absence.
"Rest assured, Hokage-sama. With Itachi on the case, the seals on them remain secure," replied Shikaku. Beside him, Uchiha Itachi nodded in agreement.
The Mangekyō Sharingan was nothing short of a tailed beast's nemesis. Coupled with Itachi's unparalleled mastery of genjutsu, suppressing a few tailed beasts posed no challenge to him.
"Hokage-sama! Envoys from Kumogakure and Kirigakure request an audience!"
At that moment, an Anbu hurried into the room, bowing respectfully as he delivered the news.
"Oh? They couldn't wait to meet me after hearing about Iwagakure's annihilation?"
Tobirama raised an eyebrow, his expression laced with amusement.
These two villages had only recently attended the summit convened by Ōnoki to oppose Konoha's collection of tailed beasts. Their plan was to form a joint ninja alliance and initiate the Fourth Great Ninja War.
And now? The instant they learned of Iwagakure's swift obliteration, they were scurrying to seek peace?
"Let them wait for me in the conference room," Tobirama said after a moment's thought, dismissing the matter with a wave of his hand.

Konoha Prison
A sliver of sunlight pierced through the window of the damp, dimly lit cell, casting faint light into the corner.
The smell of mildew and faint rot filled the air, causing Kitsuchi to furrow his brows.
Once a robust and towering figure, the man was now gaunt after just a few days of torture. With his chakra sealed and his body restrained by chains, his immense strength was utterly useless.
"Damn it!"
With a snarl, Kitsuchi slammed his head against the iron bars of his cell, growling in frustration.
He was the son of the Tsuchikage—when had he ever been subjected to such humiliation?
"By now, Father must have already rallied the village's shinobi to attack Konoha," he muttered.
"Damn you, Senju Tobirama. When Iwagakure's army marches on your doorstep, you'll regret this!"
As curses brewed in his heart, Kitsuchi slumped onto the straw mat in the corner, closing his eyes in a futile attempt to rest.
But then, the faint murmur of conversation caught his attention.
Pressing his ear to the floor, he strained to listen.
"Man, Hokage-sama is incredible!"
"Right? I still can't believe it—he wiped out the entire Iwagakure in a single night! Even Ōnoki didn't stand a chance. A village's kage, defeated just like that!"
"And to think that old Ōnoki wanted to form a ninja alliance! Ha! His army wasn't even assembled before his village got obliterated!"
"Mark my words—Hokage-sama will deal with Kumogakure and Kirigakure next. I mean, look at them—they already sent envoys begging for peace the moment they heard the news…"
The two Konoha shinobi, tasked with guard duty, strolled past the adjacent cell, their laughter echoing through the corridor.
"This… This can't be!"
Kitsuchi shot up from the floor, disbelief and fury etched across his face. His gaze locked on the two guards, his eyes blazing with anger.
Noticing Kitsuchi's reaction, the guard named Tomi turned around, a mocking grin spreading across his face.
"Well, if it isn't Ōnoki's son!" Tomi sneered. "What's with that expression? You didn't even know your father's dead? How pathetic!"
"Shut up!" Kitsuchi roared, gripping the iron bars with such force that his muscles bulged, veins protruding from his skin.
"Believe what you want," Tomi taunted. "But facts are facts."
With that, the guards walked away, still chuckling to themselves, leaving Kitsuchi trembling with anger.
"Father…?"
Though unwilling to believe the guards' words, Kitsuchi couldn't suppress the growing dread in his heart.

Konoha Conference Room
Chōjūrō, flanked by several Kirigakure Jōnin, sat stiffly in his chair, barely daring to breathe.
The moment they received word of Iwagakure's destruction, Mei Terumi had dispatched their delegation to Konoha as quickly as possible. Their goal? To prevent the Hokage from turning his sights on Kirigakure.
If the Hokage wanted tailed beasts, so be it. After all, Kirigakure's current tailed beasts weren't much use anyway.
The Three-Tails was dead and hadn't yet reincarnated, while the Six-Tails' jinchūriki, Utakata, had gone rogue and was missing.
If the Hokage wanted them, he could capture them himself.
As for the incident with the previous Mizukage being controlled by the Sharingan, Kirigakure no longer wished to pursue it.
After witnessing Senju Tobirama's overwhelming power—the power to singlehandedly destroy an entire village—they had no desire to provoke him further.
Tobirama wanted to unify the ninja world? Fine, let him do it. The Land of Water was just an island nation, after all. It wasn't their problem.
Recalling Mei Terumi and the Elder's stance, Chōjūrō silently rehearsed the lines he would deliver to the Hokage.
At the same time, he exchanged a glance with the envoy from Kumogakure, a flicker of surprise in his eyes.
"Who would've thought that the ever-belligerent Kumogakure and the Fourth Raikage would also seek peace after seeing the Hokage's strength? But will they really be willing to give up the Eight-Tails, especially since Killer Bee is the Raikage's brother?"
Nearby, Darui sat slouched in his chair, letting out a heavy sigh.
"Why me? Why'd I have to come to Konoha for this?"
Darui, a student of the Third Raikage and a loyal aide to the Fourth, had been shocked when news of Ōnoki's demise reached them.
Once he'd regained his composure, the Raikage quickly dispatched Darui to lead a peace delegation to Konoha.
But Darui himself held little hope for the negotiations.
The Hokage's objective was clear—to collect all the tailed beasts. For Kumogakure, that meant giving up both the Two-Tails and the Eight-Tails.
But Killer Bee wasn't just the Eight-Tails' jinchūriki—he was also the Raikage's brother. Handing him over? Unthinkable.
The thought of failure sent a chill down Darui's spine as he remembered the fates of Iwagakure's envoys.
Suddenly, the sound of approaching footsteps shattered the tense silence in the conference room.
As the door swung open, the Hokage entered.
The sheer presence he exuded, coupled with the heavily armed guards flanking him, made Darui's heart sink.
Was this a peace negotiation or an ambush?
