Chapter 50: Golden Sand Cut

Boom! Boom!

Two dull explosions echoed through the mist. The two shadow clones that had just performed the sneak attack were violently blown away, unable to defend themselves.

The chūnin named Akasuna, already immobilized on the ground, was caught in the center of the Ten-Thousand Blade Strangulation. One entire side of his body was shredded into countless pieces of meat on the spot. Even a third of his skull was sheared off, revealing a bloody, white, tofu-like piece of brain that could still be seen twitching. It was a truly bloody and cruel end.

"Akasuna, your death is worth it," the scarred jōnin muttered, his eyes filled with a cold killing intent.

The power of the arc blades was astonishing. Their speed did not diminish as they continued to sweep their surroundings, their attack range reaching a terrifying one hundred meters. The four remaining shadow clones within its range were all hit and turned into white smoke without exception.

"Mmm," Sasuke frowned slightly. Luckily, the food energy in his body was sufficient, and he quickly relieved the mental impact of the clones' destruction.

The scar-faced jōnin heard the multiple sounds of the clones dissipating and his heart was shocked. How could there be so many shadow clones? Not even an elite jōnin could release so many! Could he be a ninja from the Senju clan? Only they could be so extravagant as to use clones in such a shameless tactic.

But, he quickly deduced, he is not proficient in advanced attack ninjutsu. He is good at sneak attacks and has extremely strong perception. It seems I still have a chance. Based on this flawed information, he began to calm down.

"Whew… that was close," Sasuke thought, now safely outside the mist. He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. If not for the super perception of his ultrasonic radar, which had allowed him to discover the anomaly inside the Salamander puppet in advance and escape, he would have been torn to pieces.

This mechanical puppet technique is quite interesting, he mused. It can use ninjutsu without hand seals! He realized the uniqueness of these puppets. If he could secretly learn it, he might even become the first puppet master of Konoha. He quickly ordered a shadow clone to use the infrasonic radar and begin to secretly learn the puppeteer's secrets.

Seeing that time was running out and fearing the arrival of Konoha reinforcements, the scarred jōnin finally gave up his passive defense and used another powerful technique. "Mechanical Shield: Thousand-Face Combo!"

The puppet automatically disintegrated and reformed around his body as a suit of form-fitting armor, like Iron Man, with a sand eye in the center for perception.

"Wind Style: Sand Body Flicker!" he shouted, attempting to escape the mist. But steel wires, hidden in the area, blocked his advance. Another volley of kunai struck, this time carrying exploding tags.

BOOM! The B-rank level attack impacted him directly.

"What a powerful defense!" Sasuke thought, his gaze stern. Such a terrifying attack hadn't been able to break through the armor, though he knew the man inside must have suffered internal injuries.

"If you want to break my defense, you can't do it without the attack power of an A-rank ninjutsu!" the scarred jōnin coughed. Just as he stood up, four shadow clones appeared, surrounding him.

"Water Style: Water Prison Technique!" they shouted in unison, trapping him in a huge sphere of water. "Spin!" They pressed their hands on the prison, inducing a rapid rotation.

The real Sasuke, from a distance, took out a small, golden pill from his tool bag and threw it into the spinning water prison. As soon as the small ball entered, it dissolved into a large amount of diamond sand. The diamond sand was caught in the high-speed vortex, turning the water prison into a golden grinder, a whirlwind of countless, hair-thin cutting edges that began to spin at a terrifying speed.
