Chapter 91: Chapter : 93
Tsunade and Shizune had returned to Konoha, the place that held both bitter memories and unresolved conflicts for Tsunade. With a determined expression, Tsunade made her way to the entrance of the Root organization's base, her stride unyielding.
This time, her purpose was clear—to settle the score with Danzo Shimura for stealing her grandfather's body, an unforgivable violation in her eyes.
At a secluded corner of the village, an unassuming entrance led deep underground—one of the many hidden pathways to the Root organization's base. True to its name, the base was buried deeply beneath the surface, spreading like the roots of an ancient tree.
"Do not approach!"
Four masked Root ninjas appeared from the shadows, blocking Tsunade and Shizune's path. Their voices were cold and devoid of emotion. It was unclear whether they didn't recognize Tsunade or simply didn't care, but their hostility was evident.
"Get out of my way!"
Tsunade's fury boiled over. She raised her foot and stomped down with incredible force. The ground beneath her cracked and shattered, sending chunks of rock and dirt hurtling toward the four guards.
The Root ninjas were flung backward as if struck by cannonballs. Without sparing them a second glance, Tsunade continued toward the entrance of the Root base.
"An intruder!"
The commotion sounded the alarm, and more than a dozen Root ninjas poured out from the entrance, weapons at the ready and killing intent emanating from their every movement.
Inside the Root base, bells rang sharply, alerting those stationed within. The sound echoed through the underground passageways as reinforcements hurried toward the entrance.
Tsunade, however, was unfazed.
She charged directly into the group of attackers, using her monstrous strength to devastating effect. A flurry of kicks, punches, elbow strikes, and knee strikes laid waste to her foes. Each blow sent Root operatives flying, their bodies crumpling as they hit the ground.
"Danzo, come out and face me!" Tsunade's voice echoed coldly through the corridors as she advanced deeper into the base.
Shizune remained outside, holding back reinforcements, while Tsunade stormed through the passages, taking down any Root ninja who dared to stand in her way.
Meanwhile, far from Konoha, Uchiha Fugaku and Snow no Sora camped by a river in the Land of Water. Snow no Sora, a young girl from the Snow Clan, was now the sole survivor of her family, and at just seven years old, her precocious mind had already learned the harsh realities of survival.
Fugaku had been impressed by her latent talent and her respectful obedience toward him. He knew that she understood the gravity of her situation—only by staying by his side could she escape the relentless pursuit of the Hidden Mist Village and make it out of the Water Country alive.
"It's been a fruitful mission," Fugaku thought, his gaze falling on the sealing scrolls that held the corpses of both the Kaguya and Snow clans.
During the past few days, he had used White Zetsu's Mayfly Technique to move like a ghost through the Land of Water, gathering more corpses from the Snow Clan. In total, he had secured over a dozen bodies, along with their techniques and bloodline secrets.
But now, the opportunities for further gains had dwindled. The surviving members of the Snow Clan had either escaped the country or been killed. Fugaku knew it was time to leave.
The next morning, in a small coastal town, Uchiha Fugaku and Snow no Sora disguised themselves as ordinary civilians and made their way toward the town's bustling dock.
"There are Mist Village ninjas stationed at the dock," Fugaku noted, observing the guards from a distance.
Hidden Mist ninjas were thoroughly inspecting anyone entering the area. Their chakra sensors ensured that no ninja could pass as a civilian. Fugaku's Transformation Jutsu could easily fool their eyes, but chakra presence would immediately expose her.
"It seems boarding a ship directly from the dock is out of the question," Fugaku thought, frowning.
Using the Yamanaka Clan's sensory techniques, Fugaku quickly assessed the situation. The dock was heavily guarded, with over fifty ninjas patrolling openly and covertly. Among them were two elite jonin.
Forcing his way through was an option, but it would draw too much attention. If the Hidden Mist sent reinforcements to chase him at sea, even he might struggle to fend off their relentless attacks.
"We'll have to board a ship in open waters," he decided.
Nearby, a dock worker stepped out of the guarded area, unaware that Fugaku had been watching him. As the man walked past, Fugaku moved to intercept him, their eyes meeting for a brief moment.
Sharingan.
The man's expression grew blank under Fugaku's hypnotic influence. Fugaku led him to a secluded alley, ensuring they wouldn't be disturbed.
"What are the Mist Village ninjas searching for?" Fugaku asked.
"The Snow Clan," the man answered, his voice monotone. "They are looking for members of the Snow Clan who defected."
"What's the schedule for ships leaving the Water Country for the Land of Fire?"
"The next merchant ship departs the morning after tomorrow."
"Good. You will forget this conversation."
The man nodded and walked away. Moments later, he regained his senses, puzzled by how he'd ended up in the alley. Shrugging off his confusion, he returned to his duties.
Fugaku returned to Snow no Sora, sharing the plan. "We'll wait for the ship to leave and intercept it at sea. Be prepared."
For the next two days, Fugaku remained vigilant, keeping their presence hidden. When the time came, the two slipped away from the town under the cover of night, heading toward the coastline to execute their escape.
