Naruto: The Rise Of Uchiha

Chapter 116: Chapter 118

"Could it be that this is a plot orchestrated by Shimura Danzo?"

The three elders of the Uchiha clan were taken aback, their expressions becoming deeply serious.

If these so-called robbers were truly agents of Shimura Danzo in disguise, then this was a conspiracy meant to lure their clan leader, Uchiha Fugaku, out of Konoha for an ambush.

"Clan leader, are you certain of this?" asked Uchiha Setsuna, the Great Elder, his tone grave.

"I can't be absolutely certain, but the possibility is very high," Fugaku replied. "Recently, I've been at odds with Shimura Danzo. I believe he's growing desperate to eliminate me."

Fugaku's expression darkened as he continued, "Even if this isn't Danzo's doing, once he hears that I've left the village, he'll undoubtedly seize the opportunity to act."

The Third Elder, Uchiha Tsukasa, hesitated before speaking. "What do you intend to do now, clan leader?"

"We proceed as planned," Fugaku declared, his tone icy.

A chilling wave of killing intent radiated from him. "Danzo wishes to lure me out of Konoha? Then I'll take this chance to draw him out as well. But those who killed six of our clansmen will pay with their lives."

A shadow of sorrow crossed his face before his resolve hardened further. "Regardless of whether this was orchestrated by Danzo or not, they will all face retribution. None of them will leave alive."

"Please be cautious, clan leader," urged the Second Elder, Uchiha Mamoru, his voice tinged with concern.

"Don't worry," Fugaku assured them, his confidence unshaken. "Danzo and his Root can't harm me."

His lips curled into a faint sneer before he turned serious. "I'll head to the Hokage Building to request permission for this mission. In the meantime, gather our forces. Some will accompany me openly, while others will leave Konoha discreetly and follow us in secret."

At the Hokage Building, in the office of the Third Hokage, an ANBU ninja knocked on the door.

"Hokage-sama, Clan Leader Fugaku has requested an audience."

The Third Hokage, who had just finished reviewing several documents, looked up in surprise. "Fugaku? At this hour?"

After a brief pause, he nodded. "Let him in."

Moments later, Uchiha Fugaku entered the office under the watchful eyes of the ANBU.

"Hokage-sama," Fugaku greeted, his tone neutral yet respectful.

"Fugaku," the Third Hokage responded with a faint smile, masking the complex emotions brewing within him. "What brings you here?"

"Hokage-sama, I've come to request permission for a rescue mission," Fugaku began. "Six of our Uchiha clan members, including two jonin, were killed during a caravan escort. The perpetrators must be brought to justice."

The Third Hokage's eyebrows furrowed. "Six Uchiha clan members killed, including two jonin?"

The news genuinely surprised him. He had not received any reports about such an incident in the Land of Fields, which lay outside Konoha's immediate sphere of influence.

As he listened, however, a thought crossed his mind. Could this attack be part of Danzo's plot? It aligned too well with Danzo's recent behavior and ambitions.

After a moment of deliberation, the Third Hokage's expression darkened in apparent anger. "How audacious of them to kill Konoha's shinobi. Fugaku, I grant your request. Go and bring them to justice."

"Thank you, Hokage-sama," Fugaku said, bowing slightly. "With your permission, I'll take my leave."

As Fugaku left the office, the Third Hokage's stern demeanor dissolved, replaced by a cold, calculating smile.

At the Uchiha Clan's compound, twelve elite shinobi had gathered in the courtyard. The group included two elite jonin, while the others were either jonin or high-ranking chunin with significant combat experience.

This was the main team set to accompany Fugaku on the mission. Meanwhile, another unit had been tasked with following them in secret.

"Fugaku, please be careful," Uchiha Mikoto urged as she stood by her husband.

Her voice trembled slightly, betraying her anxiety. She knew the dangers that lay ahead but understood that Fugaku had no choice. As the leader of the Uchiha Clan, this was his responsibility.

"I will," Fugaku reassured her.

Turning to the gathered shinobi, his expression turned serious. "This mission will be fraught with danger. I won't lie—some of you may be injured, or worse. But know this: the Uchiha Clan will take care of your families, no matter what happens. That is my promise, and even if I'm no longer here, the clan will uphold it."

A solemn silence followed before the group responded in unison, their voices resolute. "Yes, clan leader!"

With that, Fugaku led the team out of the compound and toward Konoha's gates. Passing through the village's outskirts, they soon vanished into the dense forests that lay beyond.

Meanwhile, back in Konoha, the ANBU agents monitoring the Uchiha Clan relayed word of the departure. In response, a flurry of secret messages was dispatched to the Root.

At the same time, Danzo Shimura, along with most of his elite operatives, had already left the Root's base, preparing to spring their trap.
