Naruto: The Puppeteer in Konoha

Chapter 6: Chapter 6 Planning

The Third Kazekage directly gave Shindai two choices: one was to go undercover in Konoha, and the other was to be imprisoned in Sunagakure's maximum-security prison as a deserter.

Shindai looked at the Third Kazekage in disbelief.

If he didn't go, he would be thrown into Sunagakure's maximum-security prison.

The prison in Sunagakure was no joke; it was a terrifying place.

The prison was located within a mountain, with no individual cells. All prisoners were kept together.

Moreover, due to Sunagakure's scarcity of resources and the ongoing war, there was no food provided to the prisoners.

So... the prisoners could end up eating each other.

With his small frame, Shindai would be eaten alive within a day if he was thrown in there.

The Third Kazekage was a very forceful person, and it was very likely that he would actually send him there.

If Shindai didn't want to go, he'd have to play his cards.

That meant Shindai would have to reveal his strength, as that was the only bargaining chip he had.

But doing so would definitely send Shindai to the frontlines.

Shindai had never attended the ninja academy; he had learned ninjutsu on his own and had no real combat experience. Although he was strong, he couldn't fight properly.

Compared to going undercover in Konoha, the battlefield seemed even more dangerous.

Shindai asked in confusion, "Uncle Kaito, why me? Surely there are more suitable candidates?"

Seeing Shindai's question, the Third Kazekage understood that Shindai had already more or less agreed.

The Third Kazekage shook his head, "No, you're the most suitable in the whole village. You rarely leave your house, and no one really knows you in Sunagakure. You have a bloodline limit, and more importantly, you're from my family, so you're loyal."

Shindai pressed his lips together.

Loyal?

The Third Kazekage had misjudged him.

He'd be lucky if he didn't end up betraying them.

The Third Kazekage's face grew serious. "Shindai, I know you're scared, but you're the only one who can do this. First, the undercover agent must remain low-key in the village. Although the plan isn't a secret, Konoha will know you're from Sunagakure, but the fewer people in the village who know about it, the better."

"Since Konoha will know you're from Sunagakure, the person chosen for the mission must be someone who can attract their interest. A regular ninja won't do; they need to have something special."

"You know how it is in our village—no one cares about our powerful ninjutsu or secret techniques, not even the puppet jutsu we're so proud of. The only thing Konoha would pay attention to is a bloodline limit."

Shindai asked in disbelief, "Konoha will know I'm from Sunagakure? Why would Konoha let a Sunagakure ninja enter their village?"

The Third Kazekage then explained the plan devised by Hai Orochi.

Shindai's face looked strange. "So, you're saying you'll use me as a bargaining chip to trick Konoha? Can this work?"

The Third Kazekage responded, "Right now, Konoha is on high alert, so it's impossible to enter the village in a conventional way. That's why this plan has a high chance of success."

"Konoha doesn't have a ninja with the magnetic release bloodline, and they don't understand it very well. To fill that gap, once they confirm you're not a problem, they'll likely accept you, unwilling to let you die."

Shindai worried, "What if they dissect me like a lab rat for research?"

The Third Kazekage reassured him, "You don't need to worry about that. As I said, Konoha doesn't have a ninja with magnetic release. If they get you, they'll have their first-ever magnetic release ninja and will likely treat you like a treasure."

"Bloodline limits are passed on through blood relations and genes. Your descendants may have a chance to awaken the magnetic release."

Shindai's face became even more peculiar. "So you're saying they want to use me as a breeding tool? That's not going to happen. If there's no emotional foundation, that kind of thing won't be enjoyable!"

The Third Kazekage's face darkened. "You brat, you really want to let Konoha continue their bloodline, huh?"

Shindai awkwardly scratched his nose. "No, no, I don't have that intention…"

The Third Kazekage continued, "After the plan succeeds, you'll consider yourself a part of Konoha. You'll act like Sunagakure has sent you as a bargaining chip and show hatred toward them. Do whatever they ask of you and gain their trust however you can."

"Your task is to gather information about Konoha's techniques, jutsu, and secrets."

"When the plan starts, I will use a triggering brain manipulation technique to prevent Konoha from probing your memories."

"Brain manipulation involves inserting tiny needles into the brain's memory center to seal the target's memories."

"Don't worry, when the technique is undone, the needles will disappear, and your memories will return."

Shindai shuddered.

Damn, the thought of having needles inserted into his brain was terrifying.

And since he relied on his mind for everything, what would happen if he accidentally made a mistake and ended up brain dead?

Shindai asked, "Uncle Kaito, maybe Konoha won't probe my memories? Can we skip this brain manipulation thing?"

The Third Kazekage shook his head. "No, this technique is necessary. Since Konoha knows you're from Sunagakure, they will definitely probe your memories. It's inevitable. This is for your safety. Don't worry, I'm very skilled with this technique, and it will only seal your memories from today onward. Your past memories will remain intact."

Shindai inwardly complained.

How could he not worry? He wasn't the one getting needles stuck in his head, so it's easy for the Third Kazekage to say that!

The Third Kazekage continued, "Once the war begins, we'll find an opportunity to invade Konoha. You'll guide us, and we'll raid Konoha. I'll also give you a summoning hawk. You'll form a contract with the hawk, and if you get any intel from Konoha, you'll notify me immediately through it."

"Lastly, only I will know about your undercover identity. No one else in Sunagakure will know. You can relax…"

Before the Third Kazekage could finish, Shindai suddenly interrupted, "Uncle Kaito, you said only you know about my undercover identity?"

The Third Kazekage looked confused. "Hmm? What's wrong?"

"No, no, no!" Shindai said emphatically, "Uncle Kaito, my undercover identity has to be known by someone else. Otherwise, I won't go! Not even if you kill me!"

In Shindai's memories, the Third Kazekage had been killed by Sasori during the Third Shinobi World War and turned into a human puppet.

If only the Third Kazekage knew his undercover identity and he died, wouldn't Shindai's undercover mission become null and void?
