Chapter 242: Naruto: The Otsutsuki Naruto-Chapter 242: Night Talks in the Rain Village

Night had fallen once again.

In the rain-soaked village, after a day of busy affairs, Naruto Uzumaki had finally drifted off to sleep.

But this night belonged to those who could not—or would not—sleep.

The reanimated beings, brought back by the Edo Tensei, never felt fatigue. They neither needed food nor rest, nor could they improve their chakra through training. Thus, the ways they passed their time were anything but ordinary.

In the White Room, an isolated facility within Amegakure established for the research of forbidden techniques, even the ANBU were denied entry. It was here that Mito Uzumaki spent most of her time since deciding to stay.

This particular night, the White Room welcomed a special guest.

The door opened, and Tobirama Senju stepped inside. Recognizing the familiar silhouette, he greeted her, "Sister-in-law."

Mito turned her enchanting eyes toward him, unsurprised. "Little Tobirama, you're here. Didn't Hashirama come with you?"

Tobirama closed the door behind him, and with a flick of his hand, the door vanished entirely. He replied, "Big brother? He's at the casino."

Mito shook her head disapprovingly. "Still the same as ever. Little Tsunade picked up those habits from him when she was young. But wait, he's dead—where did he even get the money?"

Tobirama chuckled, clearly amused. "He borrowed it from the man in charge of finances here. Someone named Kakuzu. Promised to pay him back once he won. Speaking of Kakuzu, he once tried to assassinate big brother in Konoha, only to be let off the hook. Later, he ended up in Hozuki Castle, and we lost track of him. Funny how things come full circle."

Mito sighed. "Borrowing money the moment he arrives, as if he owns the place. Still, Hashirama's luck at gambling has always been decent. If he can scrape together some winnings from those idle gamblers and put it to good use, I suppose it's not entirely bad."

Tobirama shifted the conversation. "I heard you've been researching forbidden jutsu lately, sister-in-law."

Mito nodded. "I'm not as creative as you, Tobirama. All I can do is refine existing techniques. Take the Four Symbols Seal and Reaper Death Seal, for instance. These were once forbidden techniques that guaranteed the user's death. But I've been wondering—if we, as reanimated beings, could use these techniques without side effects, they'd become formidable weapons."

Tobirama's eyes gleamed with interest. "Have you made any progress?"

Mito smiled faintly. "The Edo Tensei adaptation of the Four Symbols Seal is complete. But the Reaper Death Seal... there are still some challenges."

Tobirama nodded thoughtfully. "I see. Then allow me to lend you a hand, sister-in-law."

Mito's smile deepened. "With your help, I feel success is within reach."

Tobirama smirked. "Let's get to work. We'll give big brother a surprise when it's done."

Meanwhile, in the most luxurious residence of Amegakure...

Plop, plop, plop! Captain Yamato sat on the toilet, handling his "business." He flipped through his bankbook, staring at the long string of digits with a mix of disbelief and awe. "Huh? My salary's been deposited again?"

The money he'd earned during these few months of idling in Amegakure far exceeded what he'd made risking his life for years in the field.

After all, in Amegakure, his food and clothing were provided, and there was barely anything to spend money on.

"Is this what they call getting paid to poop?" Yamato chuckled self-deprecatingly, tossing the bankbook aside. From the sink cabinet, he pulled out a few banknotes and... well, used them in a way no one should.

If anyone found out about this, he'd surely be beaten to death in Amegakure.

But Yamato felt his life had become too dull and empty—he craved excitement.

"If I keep living like this, I'm going to turn into a useless bum. Starting tomorrow, I need to find something to do. Hmm, what are my skills again? What am I good at?" he muttered to himself, pressing the flush button.

But the toilet didn't respond.

"Huh? What's going on? Is it broken?"

Yamato pulled out a flashlight to inspect. What he saw made his heart skip a beat—a face, formed from white vines, stared back at him!

Tobi, satisfied and smug, grinned. "Heh heh, thanks for the treat. Don't worry, I'll keep your little secret about wasting money."

"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

Seconds later, Yamato's scream echoed like a siren through the luxurious residence.

At the base of Amegakure's tallest tower stood the Eighteen Gates of Myojin, now imbued with life. With nowhere else to store them, they had been placed here to add an air of solemnity to the tower.

Zzzzz~~~! The gates were snoring loudly, fast asleep.

But one gate, seemingly caught in a vivid dream, suddenly leapt up with a loud BOOM and landed atop another.

"Get off me, you idiot!"

"Who are you calling an idiot?!"

"Both of you, shut up!"

"Hah? If you don't like it, go sleep somewhere else!"

"Why don't you leave? We all have two legs—who's afraid of who?!"

Bang! Bang! Bang! The gates erupted into a brawl, their wooden frames clashing noisily.

On the seventh floor of the tower, in his bedroom, Naruto Uzumaki, wearing a fluffy sleeping cap, turned over in his sleep. Grinding his teeth, he muttered, "Those guys are so noisy. Tomorrow, I'll send them all to the temple to guard the stairs."

Ssshhh...

From the wall beside Naruto's bed, a white figure emerged halfway—it was the newly born White Zetsu, Ajian.

Heh heh...

She bent forward, her hands dangling limply, grinning as she stared unblinkingly at Naruto. She remained in this position for nearly an hour.

Feeling something tickling his face, Naruto stirred, grabbing at the sensation. His hand caught a strand of seaweed-like, coiled hair.

"Huh?"

Naruto opened his eyes, coming face-to-face with Ajian, who was practically nose-to-nose with him.

Heh heh... Ajian grinned. "Dad, play with me~."

In that moment, Naruto couldn't help but think of his daughter from his past life, Himawari Uzumaki.

Naruto's mind raced. "How about this—tomorrow, I'll send you to find your mom, okay?"

Ajian tilted her head. "Mom? I have a mom?"

Naruto smiled. "Of course. She's in my old village. But I'm a little worried because bad people often target her. Can you protect her for me?"

Ajian's grin widened. Heh heh... "Should I go alone?"

Naruto asked, "Who do you want to go with?"

Ajian replied, "I want to go with Tobi."

Naruto nodded. "Tobi is Obito's friend. You'll need both Tobi's and Obito's permission. I'll ask them tomorrow, okay?"

Heh heh... Ajian chuckled, her body retreating back into the wall.

Naruto closed his eyes and drifted back to sleep.

In the next room, Konan sat under the light, reading and taking notes. After a while, fatigue began to set in. She rubbed her sleepy eyes, preparing to rest, when she turned and saw Ajian standing silently behind her.

"Why aren't you asleep at this hour?" Konan asked calmly.

Ajian replied, "I can't sleep. Play with me~."

Konan sighed. "I'm tired and need to rest. How about you come earlier next time?"

Ajian tilted her head. "I might not be able to come again. Dad's sending me to protect Mom."

Konan pondered this. "Oh, so you're heading to Konoha to protect Hinata in secret? In that case, I'll stay up and play with you tonight."

Ajian shook her head. "No need. I'm leaving at dawn. I just wanted to let you know—Tobi said he's planning to sneak through the sewers tomorrow night to spy on you while you're... well, you know."

Konan's voice turned icy. "Oh, I see. Then he won't live to see tomorrow night."

Ajian grinned. "Or you could leave him to me. I'll make sure he never dares to bother you again~."

Konan nodded. "Alright, I'll leave it to you. Take him with you to Konoha."

Ajian's grin widened. Heh heh...
