Chapter 49: 《Naruto: The Ōtsutsuki Bloodline》Chapter 52: The Eyes' Threshold and the Flying Thunder God Seal!
Standing at the bow of the boat, Kitagawa Minamoto gazed at the sea mist rising around him. The ocean breeze ruffled his short hair, lifting his spirits.
However, sitting behind him, tightly bound and unable to move, Zabuza's expression was far less pleasant.
"Damn it..."
Zabuza cursed under his breath as the boat drew closer to Kirigakure. He was utterly helpless in this situation.
Recalling the earlier battle filled him with a sense of powerlessness.
Despite using the Hidden Mist Technique, he stood no chance against the combined might of Kakashi and Jiraiya. Worse still, he couldn't even escape.
It wasn't that he couldn't leave Haku behind—he simply had no confidence in fleeing from those two.
What stung even more was the realization that Haku, whom he had trusted to deal with the boy, had been swiftly defeated.
"We're almost there."
Zabuza's frustration was palpable, while Jiraiya seemed to be in good spirits. Walking to the bow of the boat, Jiraiya looked out at the distant shoreline before turning to Minamoto.
"Kid, let me remind you again—this time is different from before. Are you absolutely sure about your Flying Thunder God technique?"
"Indeed, we can't afford any mistakes here," Kakashi added, closing the book he had been reading. Over the journey, he had been pestering Minamoto with playful remarks, but now his tone was more serious.
"Even with Zabuza 'helping,' your Flying Thunder God technique is the key. We're all counting on you."
"Don't worry," Minamoto replied with a nod. "I never do anything I'm not confident about. Once we land, I'll place the seals—it'll make our escape much easier."
Though Minamoto wasn't yet fully proficient in the Flying Thunder God Technique, and the teleportation distance left something to be desired, he was confident in his ability to transport everyone to safety. After all, his Chakra reserves were nothing to scoff at.
"Besides, I've gained a few new insights..."
The battle with Haku had been relatively straightforward. While Haku was undoubtedly strong, Minamoto's abilities, though not at the pinnacle of the ninja world, were more than enough to dominate the fight.
Moreover, the encounter had given him a deeper understanding of Ice Release.
"Ice Release, or Kekkei Genkai in general, is no simple matter."
Minamoto mused to himself. His unique bloodline allowed him to manipulate Chakra with instinctive ease, but without a clear reference or guide, simply combining elements didn't result in a Kekkei Genkai.
"It's more like the combination techniques used by Hiruzen Sarutobi or Kakuzu..."
True bloodline fusion required a precise ratio of Chakra types, a unified trajectory of their flow, and seamless molding. Every step had to be executed perfectly, without error.
"No wonder there are so many ninjas in the world, yet so few with Kekkei Genkai..."
Minamoto couldn't help but sigh. He also realized that this fusion of Chakra could create an instinctive bloodline, one that could be passed down through generations.
"Does this mean that Chakra fusion is essentially an evolution of the bloodline?"
If so, it was immensely beneficial for him. Collecting, learning, and mastering Kekkei Genkai had always been part of his plan.
With such a promising start, Minamoto was naturally pleased. He believed that with dedicated practice, he would soon master Ice Release.
"And this time, it seems my eyes are nearing a critical threshold..."
As the shoreline grew closer, Minamoto rubbed his eyes.
He felt his eyes' absorption of Chakra slowing down, replaced by a peculiar energy that began to emanate outward.
Though his eyes appeared unchanged, Minamoto could sense the increasingly prominent white glow deep within them.
"Am I getting closer to becoming 'Hyūga Minamoto'?"
Minamoto chuckled to himself. Even if he became a "Hyūga Minamoto," he wasn't worried.
After all, he had no intention of letting his eyes remain limited to the Byakugan. The Tailed Beasts, the Tenseigan on the moon—he wouldn't let his potential be confined.
His only concern now was what to do if a horn started growing on his forehead...
Night fell, and a cold wind swept through the air.
Thick mist enveloped Kirigakure, shrouding the village in an eerie tranquility under the moonlight.
In an underground base, Genji, a high-ranking elder of Kirigakure, surveyed the group of subordinates before him.
As the second most powerful figure in the village after the Mizukage, Genji had amassed a significant following, especially during the Mizukage's increasingly unpopular reign.
Tonight, he had gathered them for a critical mission.
"Ao, confirm one last time—are you absolutely certain of what you saw?"
Genji's expression was solemn as he turned to Ao, his voice heavy.
"You understand the gravity of this situation. We cannot afford any mistakes!"
"Elder, I am certain of what I saw."
Kneeling on one knee, Ao's voice was equally serious.
"The Byakugan does not lie. The Mizukage's Chakra is in complete disarray—it's a clear sign of Genjutsu. He... he is definitely being controlled!"
The idea that the Mizukage was under someone's control was almost unthinkable, yet it was the reality Kirigakure now faced.
"Everyone, did you hear that?"
Genji nodded, his expression growing even grimmer.
"This is a disgrace to Kirigakure. No matter what, we must put an end to this! Are you all prepared?"
At once, the gathered ninjas knelt on one knee, their voices echoing in unison.
"We await your orders!"
Genji nodded slightly. Though he had no personal ambition for the Mizukage's position, he could not tolerate such humiliation to Kirigakure.
This matter had to be resolved, and it would be settled tonight.
"Let's bring this to an end..."
Under the moonlight, Kisame Hoshigaki walked toward the ANBU base.
Ever since he had been forced to kill another of his companions—this time, a kind girl who had treated him gently—he had been questioning the meaning of his existence and the true nature of the village he had sworn to protect.
Though he didn't have the answers, there was one thing he could do.
"Fuguki Suikazan..."
Muttering the name, Kisame's gaze darkened as he approached the base.
Unbeknownst to him, someone had been silently watching him from the shadows.
"Looks like everything is going smoothly. He's finally making his move," Obito Uchiha said coldly, his masked face emotionless.
Beside him, Zetsu nodded.
"Yes. Once he completes this task, all you need to do is guide him, and he will become your most loyal follower. But Obito, it seems Kirigakure won't be peaceful tonight."
"No matter. Haven't the Mizukage's forces already been mobilized?"
Obito waved dismissively, his gaze never leaving Kisame.
"Once Kisame's issue is dealt with, we'll have Yagura Karatachi make an appearance to suppress the rebels. The more they die, the better it is for us."
You're just doing all this to avenge Rin, so why bother pretending...
Black Zetsu cursed inwardly but chose not to voice his thoughts. Instead, he nodded.
"Everything is ready. We're just waiting for them to act."
"Good."
Obito nodded, his gaze shifting to the moon hidden behind the mist. After a moment, he murmured,
"Tonight will bring us a favorable outcome..."
"Finally, we're here."
Under the moonlight, Kitagawa Minamoto and his team, led reluctantly by Zabuza, arrived outside Kirigakure.
Having Zabuza with them had made things relatively smooth.
Despite his attempts to escape, Zabuza had refrained from betraying Minamoto's group, knowing full well the dangers of being caught by Kirigakure.
Gazing at the faintly visible village through the mist, Jiraiya stroked his chin.
"Minamoto, if your guess is right, the real trouble begins now."
"Indeed. Finding the Mizukage won't be easy, and Kirigakure's defenses won't be lax," Kakashi added, fully focused on the mission.
"Even with Zabuza's help, we'll face plenty of challenges once inside."
Zabuza snorted coldly, his wariness evident.
"Kakashi-sensei, Jiraiya-sama, there's something strange," Minamoto suddenly said.
"What is it?"
Both Jiraiya and Kakashi turned to Minamoto, who furrowed his brow in mock confusion.
"It's faint, but I think I can sense a Flying Thunder God seal inside the village."
"And this seal... it seems to belong to the Fourth Hokage."
