Naruto: The Medical Shinobi

Chapter 124: Chapter 122: The Birth of Passive Barriers

"Welcome to the Mind Palace, Grandpa. You're the first person besides me to enter this place," Ryu said. "This is where the magic happens."

Dan looked at this replica of the void Ryu has built in his mind and all the shimmering spheres of knowledge floating around this space and stood in awe, taking a look at the domain of knowledge and creativity. In that moment, he realised that his grandson's potential was far greater than he had ever imagined.

As they stood together in this mental landscape, Dan thought, "Ryu's abilities are growing at an astonishing rate, and with this new 'Mind Palace,' there is no telling what heights he might reach. The future of fuinjutsu—and perhaps the ninja world itself—is about to change, and Ryu would be at the forefront of that revolution. There was no doubt that Ryu is destined for greatness."

""Let me show you how I do things," Ryu said. He grabbed two spheres, and multiple screens popped up.

- Level 1 Chakra Barrier

- Detection Seal

Ryu said, "The privacy seal I envisioned is too complex; I need to study all kinds of privacy seals first for my idea to work. Let's do something simple first."

Ryu snapped his fingers, and three new blank screens appeared in front of him. He then threw the two spheres in his hands towards the blank screens, and the actual seal appeared on two of them.

Dan recognised both these seals and said, "This is one of the simplest barriers that needs at least four regular ninjas to perform, but for a trained sealmaster, just 2 can suffice. And this other seal one is a detection seal. So you are going to modify them here on this blank canvas."

"That's the idea," Ryu replied confidently. "Let's create something new."

Ryu snapped his fingers, and the space cleared, and everything else not required for now disappeared from their view, and just three screens remained.

- [Temporary Enhance] running on [Fast Thinking] and [Parallel Thinking]

- [Overclocking] enabled

- Analysing Level 1 Chakra Barrier

- Progress: 1%… 2%

As the percentage was rising, the colour of the seal started changing percent by percent.

Dan took note of the change and understood Ryu's intention as he asked, "Do you intend to understand the inner workings of these seals first?"

Ryu smirked and nodded and said, "Let's make it simpler for you."

Ryu snapped his fingers, and a progress bar appeared on top of the screens for easy understanding.

- Analysing Level 1 Chakra Barrier: 3%…4%….5%

Dan said, "It takes years of hard work and luck to decode the true meaning. How are you doing it?"

Ryu tells him, "You have told me before that while seals have been partially decoded, some parts have lost their original meaning despite their continued use. But they still function as intended. Every time I learn a new seal, I discover or make educated guesses through its functions and also from similar structure but different seal, and then I add the new information in this library inside this [Mind Palace]."

"Yes, I have a complete library in this place. You can take a look at it later. From this library, I make comparisons with other seals and confirm my findings and make guesses through similarities between symbols, and it all happens very fast, as the flow of time in this place is different. Every time I decode new seals, this place evolves. It's not just me doing the work—my subconscious and conscious minds sync up, speeding up the process. It's like having an entire research team in my head, working around the clock for my problems."

On a corner, a few new screens opened with a search bar on top of them. The still-red part of the seal started being cross-referenced through similar seal patterns in real time, and though his knowledge database of other seals and the current seal on the screen began to decode part by part, the red parts of the barrier seal started turning green.

- 6%…89%

- Analysis could not be completed further

Ryu had deciphered the barrier seal to the extent possible, yet he was unable to decode it entirely.

"I guess this is the current limit as per the information I have, but this much would do for now," Ryu said.

Dan was amazed by how fast Ryu was doing this. In the real world, it would take years, maybe decades, to do this kind of research. He also noticed that the analysis could not be completed 100%.

Dan asked, "You still couldn't crack the final pieces of the barrier, huh?"

"It's fine," Ryu replied coolly. "This much is enough for what I have in mind."

Dan said, "You will be able to decode a complete seal in the future with more knowledge on seals."

Ryu nodded, acknowledging Dan's point. "Yes, with more experience and understanding, the library will expand, and so will the database of the symbols, and I believe I will be able to decode even the most complex seals in the future," he said confidently.

"Now on to the Detection Seal." Ryu declared. With a determined look in his eyes, Ryu began studying the intricate symbols of the Detection Seal.

- Analysing Detection Seal

- 2%... 4%… . . . 92%

- Analysis could not be completed further

Both the screens with the Level 1 Chakra Barrier and Detection Seal turned mostly green when analysis reached the limits of Ryu's current understanding.

"Okay," Ryu said, clapping his hands. "Now for the fun part."

Ryu looked at Dan and said, "You are going to love this part."

Ryu snapped his fingers, and a new blank screen appeared. The intricate symbols from the Detection Seal began breaking apart and drifting onto the blank canvas, realigning themselves into rudimentary structures that began glowing red.

- Setting up detection logic

The shapes and patterns rearranged themselves repeatedly, testing different configurations until they clicked into place, turning green. Slowly but surely, the detection logic solidified.

- Detection Seal modified

- Detection logic set up as input unit

Next, the [Level 1 Chakra Barrier] started breaking apart and placing itself in the middle of this new modified seal, with a huge gap in the middle of it, and the same things that happened previously started to happen again.

- Setting up feedback loops

- Setting up barrier logics

Then the text from the seal started to change colours, and a new, smaller screen started to appear in front of Ryu that indicated details about the coloured portions.

- [Passive Barrier Seal] created

"Done," Ryu announced triumphantly, stepping back to admire his work.

- Running simulations of [Passive Barrier-Seal]

- Progress: 30%. ..60% .. 90%…100%

- Simulation completed

- No errors found in logic

Dan also looked at the notifications with his mouth wide open.

Ryu then looked at Dan and said, "Go ahead, take a look."

As Dan was looking at the seal, Ryu explained, "I created this by taking elements of the detection ward and simple barriers seal. It will only activate when it detects a presence and saves chakra. It won't stop non-living things devoid of chakra, but it will block all living things and things that contain chakra."

Dan was speechless. In less than 20 minutes, he created an entirely new seal. Others need at least 2 decades of experience first to even begin such projects and 2 more to actually perform such feats.

He completely ignored Ryu for a moment and stared at the new seal. As a grandmaster himself, even if he did not create the seal, he can identify the basic purpose of the seal. And this seal clearly showed qualities for both a detection ward and a barrier. He could tell that it was extremely powerful and well-crafted.

Just then, particles of light started to gather to form a sphere.

Ryu said, "I have not given them a name yet. I collectively call them a library, but calling individual spheres books doesn't seem right. How about we call them the 'Knowledge Spheres'?"

Ryu presented the sphere to Dan and then said, "Go ahead, take a look up close."

Dan approached the knowledge orb of the seal and focused on it, and hints started to appear adjacent to the parts of the seal. Dan took his time to better understand this new seal. It wasn't complex, like an optimised storage seal. It was very simple and ingenious. When Dan got a complete grasp of it, he said it's so logical with all the hints. It all seemed to fit together perfectly.

"Want to try this seal?" Ryu asked.

Dan replied with a smile, "Absolutely, let's give it a shot."

- [Mind Palace Projection] ended

Both of them appeared again back in the room. Ryu took a blank Fuinjutsu paper and some Fuinjutsu ink and started to craft this new seal from memory.

Dan thought, "Even though this is his first time with this seal, he is doing this without any practice."

Within approximately 15 minutes, Ryu finished inscribing the seal on a fuinjutsu paper.

He looked at Dan and said, "It worked in the simulations. Now, let's see what this baby can do in real."
