Chapter 60: Damn it, Danzo!
After Shisui jumped into the Naka River, a troubling thought came to Itachi's mind, 'What if someone finds his body?'
That would go against his friend's final wish. The chances were slim, but not zero. Respecting Shisui's desire to vanish without a trace, Itachi jumped in after him to recover the body.
Even after a full minute underwater, he couldn't see Shisui's body floating anywhere. 'Where did his body go? If he died, it should be floating.'
He searched for another minute—checking hidden caves near the waterfall, feeling around the rocks, but found nothing. 'The only place left is deeper in the river. If he's not there… either he survived… or his body washed away with river or someone else got to him.'
Itachi dove deeper into the river. A few seconds later, he spotted something below—Shisui's body. It was tied to a large boulder at the bottom. A wire held his body in place, wrapped around both him and the stone. Shisui's body floated gently, about half a meter above the rock.
Itachi swam closer and started digging a hole into the riverbed beside the boulder using earth jutsu. Once the hole was big enough, he freed Shisui's body and placed it inside. He then moved the boulder over the grave to seal it.
As he swam back up, he thought quietly, 'I hope you're at peace now, Shisui. I'll keep the village safe.'

The next day, Kazeo followed his usual routine—he exercised in the morning, got ready, and headed off to the academy. After arriving and chatting briefly with his classmates, he overheard the news: Uchiha Shisui had committed suicide.
The full contents of the letter Shisui left behind weren't public, but it was known that he had taken his own life. The letter had reportedly been written to two or three individuals, likely to ensure that the news of his death wouldn't be silenced or hidden. As a result, word had spread quickly, especially within the Uchiha clan.
At first, Kazeo felt a wave of frustration and regret wash over him. 'Damn it, Danzō… Always messing things up. If only he'd handled things differently than anime… or just waited a few more weeks… maybe things could've been different. Maybe Shisui could've lived.'
'Or… maybe I should've warned him when we first met.'
'No, he came suddenly that day, I didn't even have the think of warning him against Danzo. I was also in fear that he will tell about my chakra level to Hokage.'
He clenched his fists slightly beneath the desk. But within minutes, that frustration slowly faded into a kind of grim acceptance.
'So… it's really happening, huh? The Uchiha Massacre is drawing closer.'
He glanced around at the academy classroom. His classmates laughed, talked, completely unaware of what was brewing beneath the surface of the village.
'Most of them are good kids. Yeah, some are proud and arrogant because of their lineage, but many of them… they're just decent kids trying to become a great ninja. Can I do anything to stop it? Can I at least change a small part of what's coming?'
For the entire duration of the class, Kazeo tried to thought about solution—anything that could change the outcome. The most obvious path was to tell the Hokage everything.
But he quickly shook the idea off. 'This isn't a PG-13 anime anymore. This is real. A leader of a shinobi village wouldn't just listen and believe me. They're not naïve or pure like they're shown in fiction.'
For a brief second, he imagined it—walking into the Hokage's office and revealing the future. But that fantasy died as soon as it was born.
'No. There's a bigger chance he'll lock me up, try to extract the truth from my memories… or worse—silence me entirely. Even if the chance of that happening is low, I'm not willing to gamble my life on it.'
The first class ended in similar thoughts, after the first class, Kazeo casually mingled with his classmates, hoping to learn more about what was happening within the Uchiha clan.
That's when he heard a few more details.
There would be no funeral for Shisui as his body had not been found. Some rumors were even floating around that Shisui had gone rogue, but most of the clan didn't believe it. Everyone had either witnessed or heard about Shisui's unshakable loyalty to both the clan and the village.
'So no body, and some people are already whispering rogue-nin… I think Uchiha clan should be doing inspection currently considering the power of Shisui eyes. If only they knew the truth… what would they even do?' He sighed inwardly, the weight of reality pressing harder on his mind.
-----
A few days passed, and Thursday finally arrived. Kazeo decided it was time to use the soldier pills he had bought and start intensive training. He chose Thursday on purpose, since the pill's effects would last three days, they would wear off by Saturday, giving him Sunday to rest and recover.
He also factored in his unique condition—he usually needed around 11 hours of sleep daily, unlike normal shinobi who could get by with just six. Soldier pills were known to exhaust even elite ninjas, often knocking them out for 13 hours after use.
So, in Kazeo's case, he expected a crash of nearly 20 hours of sleep once the effects wore off. That made resting on Sunday the best strategy. With his plan in place, he swallowed the pill in the morning and began training.
Later that day, Kazeo sat quietly in his room after finishing his morning session. Since taking the pill, he had trained relentlessly for two straight days. His mind had often wandered into overthinking, but each time he snapped back and refocused.
Throughout those two days, he trained entirely outdoors—even at night, eating only on ration bars to minimize bodily stress once the pill's effect faded.
On the third day, wanting to avoid any unforeseen risks, Kazeo returned home. He limited himself to safer practices: refining his chakra string technique and working to reduce the hand signs needed for his Wind-style jutsus. 'These pills are surprisingly effective,' he thought. 'I haven't felt tired at all. Every hour, my chakra and stamina just recover on their own. It's like I'm constantly being recharged. The soul fatigue is still there, but at least the physical exhaustion is gone.'
He chuckled to himself. 'If this pill existed on Earth, corporate companies would be the first to snatch it up. Gamers would probably worship it.'
Everything had been going smoothly. But by the afternoon, things started to shift.
While training, Kazeo suddenly felt his eyelids growing heavy. The unexpected drowsiness disrupted his chakra control, and thin cut appeared on his fingers, the result of unstable wind chakra while manipulating wire.
"What's going on…?" he muttered, breathing unevenly. 'There's still half a day left before the pill's effect ends… so why am I crashing now?'
He stood up, intending to bandage the cut—but just then, dizziness overwhelmed him. His knees buckled. The world spun and a moment later, he collapsed to the floor...his fingers bleeding. The last thing he saw was the ceiling spinning into darkness.
