Naruto: The Clanless Prince

Chapter 163: 163. Sora And Uchiha Obito

Facing Minato's comments about the Uchiha clan, Obito could only lower his head in shame.

Minato continued explaining about Sora to Obito.

"Sora is not recognized by the Uchiha clan, but he still has Uchiha blood. This is an undeniable fact. Because of this, the villagers often vented their resentment toward the Uchiha clan on Sora. So Sora at that time... how should I put it... was living a very difficult life."

Obito imagined the scene: a five-year-old child, alone, without relatives, living by himself and being bullied by the villagers. Just thinking about it made him feel deeply saddened.

"Because of these experiences," Minato continued, "Sora became extremely distrustful of his peers and cold toward everyone, especially me. I did something wrong back then, which has led to these consequences for more than ten years. Sora still looks at me with great displeasure."

"What could make Sora-sama hate you for more than ten years?" Obito asked curiously.

Minato looked somewhat helpless. "I have to mention someone who is very important to Sora—Uzumaki Kushina. If it weren't for Kushina, I would have thought Sora was completely emotionless. Sora is indifferent to everyone except Kushina. At that time, a student from the ninja academy brought his Genin brother to cause trouble for Kushina. I chose not to help Kushina, but instead sided with that student and the Genin, which made Sora hate me until now. That time, if Master Jiraiya hadn't arrived in time, my arm might have been permanently damaged by Sora."

"Was Sora-sama that strong even back then?" Obito exclaimed. "But Jiraiya-sama said that you were also very strong at that time. How could you almost lose an arm to Sora-sama?"

Minato smiled bitterly. "Back then, I was completely outmatched by Sora. When Sora was in the Jōnin academy, he had already mastered Thunder Breathing Ninjutsu. I competed with Sora many times, but I always lost. Things didn't improve until the war started and I learned the Flying Thunder God Technique."

Obito nodded vigorously. "A teacher who has mastered the Flying Thunder God Technique must be invincible!"

Minato shook his head. "No, after I learned the Flying Thunder God Technique, I competed with Sora once more. That time, I still lost."

Obito's eyes widened in disbelief. "Even with such incredible speed, Sora-sama defeated you?"

"Yes," Minato nodded, "and Sora won that fight easily. His combat intelligence is extraordinary. I was completely outmatched. Since that time, I've never competed with Sora again."

Obito looked confused. "I've never seen Sora-sama fight, but someone who has awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan, the strongest eye of the Uchiha clan, must be extremely powerful."

"Obito," Minato warned seriously, "you must remember one thing. In front of Sora, never associate him with the Uchiha clan, or you're likely to face his retaliation! Sora may be indifferent to most people, but he's ruthless toward the Uchiha clan. If he finds any reason to act against you, he definitely will!"

Obito swallowed nervously and promised with a hint of fear, "I-I understand."

Minato lowered his head slightly and whispered, "Sora and I are truly incompatible. He's extreme, arrogant, cruel, has no concept of comradeship, and is completely indifferent. When faced with companions who need help, he doesn't think about saving them, but how to use them. Back then, Daigo was severely injured and begged Sora to save him, but Sora just handed him an explosive tag and told him to die with the enemy. Daigo's desperate expression is still vivid in my mind..."

Obito's mouth fell open in disbelief. Give an explosive tag to a wounded comrade and tell them to die with the enemy? What kind of living nightmare was that?

Minato sighed. "When I say I'm worried about Sora, I'm worried that Kakashi will become more extreme under his influence. Kakashi is already very similar to Sora. I'm truly concerned that Kakashi will become another Sora. However, Kakashi is Sora's disciple, so I can't control him emotionally or rationally. Alas."

Obito looked troubled and remained silent for a long time.

"Obito, it's getting late," Minato said. "Go and rest early."

Obito nodded. "Okay, teacher. You should get some sleep too."

On his way back to the camp, Obito kept thinking about what Minato had said about Kakashi and Sora.

When Obito was halfway there, a voice suddenly spoke from behind him: "Is it okay to gossip about me with Namikaze Minato?"

"Oh my god!" The sudden sound made Obito jump in fright.

Obito's heart skipped a beat when he saw it was Sora.

"S-Sora-sensei, why are you here?" Obito stammered, embarrassed.

Sora looked at Obito's startled expression, never imagining that this boy would someday become one of the instigators of war.

Sora's eyes fixed on Obito, making him feel incredibly uncomfortable.

When Obito was nearly drenched in cold sweat, Sora finally spoke. "Do you also think that I am as extreme, arrogant, and cruel as Namikaze Minato claims?"

Obito forced an awkward smile that looked more painful than cheerful. "No, no, I don't feel that way at all, not at all!"

Sora smiled at Obito. "Obito, you haven't experienced my past, so you don't know why I am the way I am. Even though I did nothing wrong, I was insulted and even beaten by everyone. Without any protection or supporters, I couldn't rely on anyone. I could only depend on my weak self and force myself to grow up. To survive, I had to live carefully every day... But when I finally became stronger and able to stand on my own, I had to protect those who had bullied me. Do you know how disgusting that felt?"

Sora's expression twisted with revulsion, and Obito stared at him blankly.

"Obito, do you think it's my fault that Kakashi is the way he is?"

Obito shook his head numbly. "I-I don't know..."

Sora spoke each word deliberately: "It was not I who made Kakashi this way, but Konoha!"
