Naruto: The Burning Spiral

Chapter 13: Biggest Mistake

After the academy, Kazuki made his way to the Konoha library, his pace steady as he clutched the ID card he'd received from the academy. The library was a large, quiet building with towering shelves and the faint scent of old scrolls in the air. He showed his ID card to the librarian, a stern woman with glasses who gave him a curt nod, and entered Section F, his eyes scanning the rows of books with a focused intensity, ready to begin his research on the Transformation Jutsu.

Once inside Section F, Kazuki began sifting through different books and scrolls. After a few minutes, he finally found the scroll he was looking for: Introduction to Hand Signs. He picked it up, his expression calm but his gaze sharp as he examined it.

'For learning a jutsu, I'll have to master its hand signs first,' he thought, his brow furrowing slightly. 'I'm thinking of practicing all the hand signs for a few days before starting to learn any jutsu.' He nodded to himself, tucking the scroll under his arm as he headed toward the librarian.

Approaching the desk, Kazuki spoke in a polite, formal tone, "I would like to borrow this scroll, ma'am. How much would that cost?"

The librarian adjusted her glasses, her stern gaze softening slightly as she replied, "It's free for academy students, but you can only borrow a scroll or book for a maximum of one week. If you're late in returning it, you'll receive a fine depending on the scroll. For this scroll, the fine will be 20 Ryo per day."

'It's good that it's free, and I can certainly learn the hand signs in a week,' he thought, his lips twitching faintly with satisfaction. He looked back at the librarian and said, "Then I would like to borrow this for a week."

After borrowing the scroll, Kazuki returned home and closed his windows tightly, ensuring no one could spy on him. He sat cross-legged on the floor, the scroll open before him, and began practicing the hand signs, his fingers moving with deliberate precision. The hand signs were easy, but he knew he'd have to practice them until they became muscle memory.

For the next week, Kazuki added hand sign practice to his daily routine, "He hasn't mastered them yet, but he has learned enough to use them in practice. After that, he returned the scroll to the library and searched for the Transformation Jutsu scroll, borrowing it with the same formal request before heading home.

Once home, Kazuki unrolled the scroll, his eyes scanning the text as he settled into a focused mindset. 'So now I'm going to try the first jutsu of my life,' he thought, a quiet excitement bubbling beneath his calm exterior. 'This is the moment I've been waiting for. Now that my chakra control is decent, I can finally perform jutsu. Ever since I came to this world, I've been at the bottom of the food chain, the weakest everywhere I went. But now I'm going to change that after I master this jutsu. I'll also learn the other two basic jutsu, and then I can give the majority of my time to practicing taijutsu.' He clenched his fist slightly, his determination evident.

He read the scroll carefully, his expression serious as he absorbed the instructions. 'So for using the Transformation Jutsu, the main things required are chakra control, hand signs, and visualization,' he thought. 'Now let's give this a go.' He stood in front of his small, cracked wall mirror, took a deep breath, and performed the hand signs.

Dog → Boar → Ram

In an instant, Kazuki transformed into a feminine figure with long, flowing silvery-grey hair, pale skin, and Byakugan in both eyes. A third eye, the Rinne Sharingan with concentric rings and nine tomoe, adorned her forehead, while two short horns—uneven in size—protruded from her head. She wore a flowing white robe, elegant and regal like a fancy kimono, though the unusually large chest stood out against her divine appearance.

Kazuki stared into the mirror, his transformed eyes widening slightly before a faint smirk crossed his face. 'Wow, it actually worked,' he thought, his tone laced with satisfaction. 'All the hard work in learning chakra control really paid off.' He leaned closer, inspecting the reflection, and added, 'It's a bit inaccurate, though—like the horns are different sizes, the hair's a bit shorter than I imagined, and many other irregularities. The biggest mistakes are these huge boobs. Oh god, my dirty mind, I subconsciously visualized them like this—I'll have to practice it multiple times to master this jutsu.' He shook his head, a mix of amusement and embarrassment flickering across his transformed face.

Curiosity getting the better of him, Kazuki reached up and touched the exaggerated chest, his fingers brushing the fabric. 'Wow, these are really soft, exactly how I imagined them,' he thought, a dry chuckle in his mind. 'This is my first time touching boobs in both of my lives—new achievement, I guess. Wait, what the heck am I even doing?' He flinched, immediately releasing the Transformation Jutsu, his form snapping back to normal as he rubbed the back of his head, a sheepish grin tugging at his lips. 'Maybe I should transform into a male next time to avoid distractions, hehe,' he thought, his tone lightening.

Now turning his attention to the next jutsu, Kazuki decided to tackle the Clone Jutsu. The next day, he returned to the library, borrowed the Clone Jutsu scroll from the librarian, and brought it home. Unrolling it, he scanned the text, his brow furrowing as he read. 'There are three hand signs required for this jutsu—Ram, Snake, and Tiger,' he thought. 'But there are many other aspects to learning it. The hand signs are just for moving chakra in the correct order through the pathways. Guess this jutsu will take its time. Well, here goes nothing.' He took a deep breath and performed the signs. "Clone Jutsu!"

A pale, ghost-like clone flickered into existence before him, its form shaky and unable to stand properly before dissipating. Kazuki facepalmed, a groan escaping his lips as he shook his head. 'What the heck is this?' he thought, his tone exasperated. 'It's even worse than Naruto's clone from the series. Looks like this needs a lot of practice.' He sighed, his shoulders slumping as he rolled up the scroll, determined to improve.

It took Kazuki a full month to create a perfect clone of himself. During that time, he also practiced taijutsu, the Rasengan, and the Transformation Jutsu, his skills improving significantly, though still far from perfect. He stood in his room, facing his clone, and nodded approvingly. 'This is the best clone I've made so far,' he thought, his expression calm but focused. 'Now I have to multiply it—man, what a pain in the ass. Why do I have to work hard for a jutsu I won't even use in the future because of its superior version? Life sure sucks. Anyway, I'll keep practicing this alongside the Transformation Jutsu, but now it's time for the jutsu I've been waiting for so long—the Substitution Jutsu.'

This jutsu intrigued him, its mechanics sparking his curiosity. 'This jutsu always seemed like a plot hole to me,' he thought, his brow creasing. 'Like, how can a ninja escape any attack using it? But this isn't an anime or game—this is real life, and plot holes are filled by the logic of this world. So I wonder how the Substitution Jutsu will work.' The next day, he borrowed the Substitution Jutsu scroll from the library, his steps purposeful as he carried it home.

After reading the scroll, Kazuki frowned, his lips pressing into a thin line as he leaned back against the wall. 'This jutsu is basically useless unless the power difference between you and your enemy is very high,' he thought, his tone critical. 'How it works is, when your opponent loses focus or isn't paying attention to you, you have to take advantage of that moment by replacing yourself with a log or something before they notice. This is the most basic use taught in the academy. I mean, you have to work so hard to master it, and it isn't effective against opponents even close in power to you. But there are some variants that aren't taught here and can be somewhat useful—like genjutsu substitution, where you put your target in a genjutsu before using it, or seal substitution, where you carry the object you'll substitute with in a storage scroll. There's also transformation substitution, where you fool the enemy with the Transformation Jutsu. Anyway, I'll just learn the basic version and won't bother with it much. But the worst part is that it requires five hand signs, like I never saw anyone use the hand sign for this jutsu other than Sakura.' He sighed, rubbing his temples as he prepared for the challenge ahead.

Even though the jutsu seemed impractical, it wasn't easy. In fact, it was the most difficult of the three basic jutsu, taking Kazuki one and a half months to perfect. During that time, his taijutsu improved significantly—he started winning most of his spars, though he still lost to opponents from the Uchiha, Hyuga, Akimichi, and sometimes Inuzuka clans. He hadn't sparred with Hayato or Itachi even once since his earlier defeat.

Kazuki stood in Section D of the library, holding a scroll in his hands, his eyes gleaming with anticipation as he unrolled it. 'Finally, it's time to learn this jutsu,' he thought, his fingers tracing the text as he prepared to delve into a new challenge.
