Chapter 82: Chapter 82
Kitazawa looked at Hinata's newly awakened Byakugan and gave a small, satisfied nod.
All that effort had finally borne fruit.
In the original timeline, Hinata certainly hadn't awakened her Byakugan at the age of six. But under his guidance, she had done it—and the sense of accomplishment swelled within him.
Just then, the system chimed in with a prompt.
Mission Complete: Help Hyuga Hinata awaken her Byakugan.
Reward: Eight Trigrams Mountain Crusher.
The reward was instantly delivered.
The Eight Trigrams Mountain Crusher—one of the Gentle Fist's signature moves—paired perfectly with the Sixty-Four Palms technique. Where one focused on explosive power, the other emphasized relentless precision. Together, they formed a deadly one-two.
And once he defeated Second Year Class A, he'd unlock the Sixty-Four Palms as well. At that point, his overall strength would rival that of an elite Jōnin.
"I did it, Kitazawa-sensei!"
Hinata, beaming with excitement, ran toward him. Her Byakugan still faintly glowing, a rosy flush lingered on her cheeks.
"Congratulations, Hinata," Kitazawa said warmly, his smile genuine.
"You were amazing out there, Hinata!" Ino praised without hesitation.
"The Byakugan really is as incredible as they say," Kiba added with a grin and a thumbs-up.
Naruto scratched his head, tilting it with a puzzled look. "Hey, I've been meaning to ask—why are Hinata's eyes all white?"
He clearly had no clue what a Kekkei Genkai even was.
"Bloodline Limi—" Shino began, adjusting his sunglasses.
But Kiba jumped in with a smirk. "Let me explain it instead."
He took center stage, animatedly describing what a bloodline limit was.
"That's so cool!" Naruto shouted, eyes sparkling with amazement.
"When it comes to Kekkei Genkai," Sakura said with her hands on her hips, "nothing beats the Sharingan of the Uchiha Clan!"
"Sasuke, have you awakened your Sharingan yet?" Naruto asked, tilting his head curiously.
Sasuke's mouth twitched. He didn't bother answering.
If he had awakened it, would he really be keeping it a secret?
Still, watching Hinata's sudden power-up stirred something in him. Jealousy? Ambition? Maybe both.
Could he still beat her as easily as before?
Sasuke found himself wanting to test it out—with a sparring match.
But first, there was someone else he needed to face—Hyuga Neji.
Mizuki, meanwhile, was reeling from the loss.
Just when Tenten had the upper hand, Hinata's Byakugan had awakened—completely flipping the outcome. The emotional whiplash left him frustrated and stunned.
"I'm sorry," Tenten said softly as she returned to her classmates.
"It's no shame losing to the Byakugan," Neji said flatly, his tone unreadable.
Mizuki had wanted to reprimand her, but at Neji's words, he fell silent. Now wasn't the time to damage morale.
"Yeah," Rock Lee chimed in cheerfully. "Hinata really was strong—you've got nothing to be ashamed of!"
Neji glanced at him, deep in thought.
Could Hinata now be called strong?
He had to admit, awakening the Byakugan at six was unheard of—something only a true prodigy could achieve.
For the first time, Neji saw Hinata not as a burden or a weak heiress, but as a worthy opponent.
"Lee," Mizuki finally said, after a long pause, "you're up next."
Rock Lee—once the weakest in Second Year Class A—had grown rapidly under Might Gai's tutelage. His taijutsu was now top-tier, and among the second-years, he stood as a powerhouse.
"Mizuki-sensei! I swear on my youth, I won't let you down!" Lee declared, giving a sparkling thumbs-up.
"Kitazawa-sensei!" Naruto called eagerly as Lee stepped forward.
"Go on," Kitazawa said with a nod. "Just be careful."
"Alright!" Naruto jumped to his feet, bursting onto the training ground without hesitation.
Lee's thick eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Naruto… you're my opponent?"
"Lee!" Naruto shouted with a grin.
"...Naruto!" Lee shouted back, his own eyes shining.
"I never thought we'd be standing across from each other like this," Naruto said with a nostalgic smile.
"Gai-sensei will be proud," Lee said, clenching his fists. "A taijutsu duel in front of the Hokage himself!"
In the next moment, the two flung their arms around each other and cried tears of passion.
"...?"
Hiruzen raised an eyebrow, utterly confused.
How did this get so… emotional?
"This is… overflowing with youthful energy," Shikaku muttered, his eyelids twitching.
"You don't have to praise it," Hiruzen grumbled under his breath.
"I was being honest, Hokage-sama," Shikaku coughed, clearly regretting his words.
"Begin the match!"
Kitazawa couldn't contain his excitement and barked the signal.
"Watch out, Naruto!" Lee launched a precise kick with no hesitation.
"Leaf Whirlwind!" Naruto parried with his own spinning kick.
The two gusts of wind clashed in midair, producing a heavy reverberation.
"Youth thrives in battle!" Lee stepped back and then lunged forward. "Leaf Great Whirlwind!"
"Leaf Rock Crushing Rise!" Naruto countered with a flying elbow, the impact sending a shockwave outward.
Lee maintained a calm facade, though inwardly he knew he was under pressure. Naruto's Uzumaki resilience, fueled by Nine-Tails Chakra and his proud bloodline, made him exceptionally durable. Lee, a pure taijutsu specialist, simply couldn't match that endurance—but he refused to back down.
The two traded blows—fast, fierce, and unrestrained.
"Gai taught him well," Hiruzen Sarutobi observed, eyes gleaming at Naruto's advantage.
"Naruto truly has talent," added Shikaku with an approving nod.
Hiruzen's tone grew thoughtful. "Yet taijutsu nin are vulnerable to ninjutsu—they wear out without other skills or a bloodline limit."
He mused, hoping Naruto would someday harness ninjutsu like Minato.
After several intense minutes, Lee retreated slightly. "Give it everything you've got, Naruto!"
At that, Naruto paused—not from fatigue, but doubt. Hiruzen watched intently. Could Naruto be learning the Eight Gates? It was almost unimaginable—the gates were too advanced for his age.
Lee's voice rang out again: "Youth demands total effort! I want to lose… but lose honorably!"
Mizuki's scalp prickled. Voluntarily conceding? Madness!
Naruto's hesitation vanished in an instant. "Okay!"
He formed hand seals.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
From the swirling smoke appeared two Narutos. They immediately repeated the seals, producing four, six, and finally seven Narutos on the field.
"Lee, teach me!" the seven blonde-haired shamans chanted before charging.
Unsurprisingly, Rock Lee was overwhelmed by this coordinated onslaught.
Hiruzen watched, astonishment etched on his face. "He can use multiple shadow clones… at six years old?" He wondered if Naruto should officially learn it; the boy clearly had the aptitude.
Shikaku stared, incredulous. "What kind of chakra volume is that?"
Kiba's face spoke volumes about the gap between them. Sasuke fell silent—could he hope to take on seven Naruto clones?
The crowd was stunned. How could a mere first-year produce such genius-level feats?
"Winner: Uzumaki Naruto!" Hiruzen announced with a satisfied smile.
Naruto dispelled the clones and extended a hand to Lee.
"That was amazing, but I'll catch up." Lee gave him a bright thumbs-up.
"I'll be waiting!" Naruto replied.
Mizuki then turned to Neji. "Neji, your turn." He knew this match was critical—everything rested on Neji now.
Neji met the challenge with cool confidence. "I won't lose."
He strode to the center of the grounds. Sasuke stood ready, eyes flicking to Kitazawa in anticipation.
But Kitazawa surprised everyone by uttering an unexpected name: "Yakumo Kurama."
Sasuke froze in shock.
Neji stared at the slight, unfamiliar girl who stepped forward—confusion etched on his face.
