Naruto: Strongest Shinobi System With a Glitch

Chapter 51: Chapter 51

Kitazawa froze for several seconds, standing still as the flood of new information from the system washed over him.

'As expected of one of the legendary "Five Great Dojutsu" of the shinobi world…' he thought. The Byakugan's boost to an ordinary ninja's abilities was truly astonishing.

If he'd been near Jonin level before, he could now genuinely call himself a Jonin. And paired with Gentle Fist techniques, he'd be a proper Jonin in every sense.

Without wasting any time, Kitazawa hurried to a training ground on the outskirts of Konoha.

Since it was after hours, the field was completely deserted.

Pulling a small mirror from his pocket, he examined his reflection. His eyes were still dark, normal as ever.

"At least the system was smart about one thing," Kitazawa muttered with a smirk.

Unlike the Sharingan, whose tomoe appeared visibly when activated and which only Uchiha clan members could fully deactivate, the Byakugan was far trickier to conceal.

Even when "inactive," true Hyuga eyes were milky white and unmistakable at a glance.

One of the big reasons Kakashi Hatake struggled with chakra exhaustion was that he couldn't turn off his implanted Sharingan, draining him constantly.

But Kitazawa's new Byakugan was different. His eyes only transformed when he consciously activated the power. Otherwise, they looked completely ordinary.

He mentally commanded.

'Activate.'

Immediately, the veins around his temples bulged, and the world in his vision transformed.

It was like going from grainy 360p video to dazzling 4K ultra HD—and in a full 360-degree view, like having eyes in the back of his head.

"Magnificent."

Kitazawa turned slowly, drinking in the crystal-clear view around him. The Byakugan was far more terrifying than he'd even imagined.

No wonder the Hyuga Clan produced so many Jonin, even if some members weren't top-tier prodigies.

Kitazawa shifted his gaze toward a tree nearby. With a mere thought, the tree vanished from his sight, revealing everything hidden behind it.

He lowered his gaze to his own raised hand and could clearly see the flow of chakra, the network of veins, the layout of his bones, and even his tenketsu points.

The Byakugan's primary powers were insight, x-ray vision, and telescopic vision. Kitazawa had now tested the first two. Only the long-distance vision remained.

He lifted his head, peering into the distance.

His vision stretched farther and farther, reeling in every detail along the way, until finally halting at roughly one kilometer out.

That was one kilometer in all directions—not just in a straight line.

And that wasn't even the limit. With further training, the range could be expanded even more.

Kitazawa deactivated the Byakugan and exhaled slowly.

Based on his tests, his Byakugan was roughly on par with that of an average Hyuga Jonin.

But the system had also filled his mind with extensive knowledge about how to refine and improve the Byakugan further.

However, reaching the legendary Tenseigan… that was another matter entirely. That path was closed off to him.

Even so, having a standard Byakugan was already an enormous advantage.

Kitazawa felt the surge of newfound power humming inside him.

He took a moment to calm himself, then headed for home.

On the way, he kept feeling the urge to activate his Byakugan again—but restrained himself each time.

After all, there was no way to explain where he'd gotten such eyes if someone noticed. And any Jonin-level ninja would immediately sense if someone tried to observe them with the Byakugan.

The next day dawned.

While out buying breakfast, Kitazawa also picked up a pair of sunglasses.

"Kitazawa-sensei!"

Hinata beamed when she spotted him.

"Did you talk to your father about your… impressive appetite?" Kitazawa asked, remembering the mission still hanging over his head.

Her mission had two requirements: to fill her up with food, and for her to voluntarily confess her secret.

He'd done everything he could for the first part.

But the second step was all tied up with Hiashi.

"How did you know?"

Hinata blinked in surprise, staring at him with wide eyes.

"I guessed."

Kitazawa chuckled, reaching out to gently tap her forehead. "Congratulations."

"Thank you…"

Hinata glanced at him shyly, then lowered her gaze. "It was because of you, Kitazawa-sensei. You gave me the courage."

Her voice was soft, almost a whisper.

"I didn't do anything special," Kitazawa said, shaking his head. "Hinata, you've always been brave on your own."

Hinata blinked, momentarily stunned by his words.

"So—how's your water-walking training coming along?" Kitazawa asked, smoothly changing the topic.

"I can already walk all the way across the lake without sinking!" Hinata replied, a hint of pride in her voice.

"Excellent. That means you've completed the water-walking training." Kitazawa smiled. "So, what do you want to train for next?"

"Eh?" Hinata stared at him, a little lost, then said softly, "I'll do whatever Kitazawa-sensei thinks is best."

"Then tell me—what's your own wish right now?"

Kitazawa asked the question carefully. He wasn't just making small talk; he was trying to trigger a new system mission.

"Me?"

Hinata tilted her head, thoughtful. After a pause, she said, "I… I want to awaken my Byakugan sooner."

Kitazawa blinked as four lines of glowing text suddenly appeared before his eyes. His stunned expression turned into a broad grin.

Now he was starting to figure out how the system determined its missions.

[Your classmate Hyuga Hinata is seeking your help.]

[Current Mission: Help Hyuga Hinata awaken her Byakugan.]

[Mission Reward: Eight Trigrams: Mountain Crusher.]

[Do you accept?]

Of course Kitazawa chose to accept.

Eight Trigrams: Mountain Crusher was a powerful Gentle Fist technique—a taijutsu move somewhat akin to the Strength of a Hundred Seal in concept, channeling Gentle Fist into devastating, mountain-shattering blows.

"Alright then." Kitazawa smiled slyly. "For this afternoon's practical combat class, I'll give you a special kind of training."

"What kind of training?" Hinata asked, eyes bright with curiosity.

"That's a secret."

Kitazawa held a finger to his lips. "Promise me you won't even tell your father."

"Mhm…"

Hinata's face turned pink as she nodded.

That afternoon, during practical combat class

Everyone threw themselves into the training regimens Kitazawa had assigned the previous day.

"Kitazawa-sensei."

Sakura came over, curiosity written all over her face. "Why is Hinata getting different training from the rest of us?"

Sakura had strong talent for chakra control. Though she'd started later than Hinata and Ino, she'd quickly caught up and was now training on water-walking alongside them. In terms of progress, all three girls were about equal—so Sakura couldn't help being puzzled.

"We'll be facing Second Year Class A in four events," Kitazawa explained. "And for the chakra control competition, I'm placing my highest hopes on you and Ino."

"Really?" Sakura's eyes widened.

"Of course."

Kitazawa gave her a meaningful look. "Which means your water-walking training needs an upgrade."

"What kind of upgrade?" Sakura asked suspiciously.

"When you're water-walking," Kitazawa said with an innocent smile, "Ino will try to hit you with wooden kunai. And you'll try to hit her."

"Kitazawa-sensei…are you a demon?" Sakura yelped, eyes as round as dinner plates.

"And to make sure no one slacks off," Kitazawa added thoughtfully, "whoever gets hit the most will have their homework doubled."

"You ARE a demon!" Sakura exclaimed, gaping at him.

"Sakura, I'm so sorry!" Ino rolled up her sleeves with a determined glint in her eyes. "But when it comes to homework—you're on your own!"

Kitazawa simply smiled.

'Three sentences—and the girls are ready to declare war on each other for me.'
