Chapter 52: Offering to the Ferocious Giant Snake, Killing and Arson All Done!
[Chapter for ramazan_5063]
"Orochimaru-sensei, what are your orders?"
After throwing a corpse onto the pile of bodies, Ryun shook off the dirty blood from his hands and walked up to him.
"Come take a look at this person. He seems to still be alive..."
Orochimaru lightly kicked a bandit at his feet and motioned for Ryun to come closer.
Ryun crouched beside the bandit and placed a hand over his heart, then nodded in confirmation of Orochimaru's observation.
"He still has a heartbeat, but he's lost too much blood. He probably won't last much longer..."
Orochimaru chuckled hoarsely, then kicked a long sword toward Ryun.
"Pick up this blade and end his painful, sinful life."
"!!!"
Seeing Orochimaru's sinister smile, Ryun couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine.
He subconsciously picked up the sword, his face showing little panic, but his trembling hands betrayed his inner turmoil.
"Hurry up, stab him through the heart. Once it's done, the mission will be over!"
As Ryun hesitated, Orochimaru finally dropped his smile and coldly urged him.
Nawaki, who had already finished dealing with the aftermath, watched Ryun in silence.
Only those who had gone through this themselves knew how terrifying this moment was. Once this blade was driven in, they would no longer be the naive boys they once were.
From then on, even under the brightest sunlight, a part of their hearts would forever remain in shadow.
No matter how thoroughly they washed their hands, the blood they had spilled would always linger in their minds.
Ryun's expression gradually twisted into something fierce. Under the watchful eyes of Orochimaru and Nawaki, he plunged the blade deep into the bandit's body.
The weakly beating heart was pierced straight through, and the blade even stabbed into the ground beneath from the sheer force of the thrust!
"!!!"
Seeing this, Nawaki's eyelids twitched uncontrollably.
Back then, he hadn't been nearly this ruthless...
That vicious glare, that brutal strength—it was as if this bandit had murdered Ryun's father...
Clap! Clap! Clap!
Looking at the kneeling boy who was panting slightly, Orochimaru couldn't help but applaud in approval.
In his eyes, young men ought to have this kind of ferocity. He had high hopes for Ryun's future!
Ryun didn't know what they were thinking, but at the moment he struck, his mind had been filled with one thought:
'In my past life, I couldn't even.... a real man can't afford to hesitate or show weakness...'
He had simply hypnotized his brain a little, and suddenly his hands stopped shaking, his killing intent naturally surging forth...
Orochimaru bit his right thumb, drew a line of blood across his left palm, formed a series of hand signs, and slammed his palm onto the ground:
"Summoning Jutsu!"
Boom!!!
Amid a thick cloud of smoke, a ferocious giant snake appeared before them.
"Orochimaru... You'd better have a good explanation for this..."
The snake's irritated voice echoed through the smoke, brimming with impatience, as if it were on the verge of a violent outburst.
The sight of the monstrous serpent made Nawaki stumble back several steps in fright.
Even Ryun instinctively retreated a couple of steps, but once he remembered what this creature was, his fear vanished entirely.
"Manda... This is the offering I've prepared for you."
Orochimaru pointed at the pile of corpses, forcing a stiff smile.
Manda's eyes gleamed with interest, but when it saw the lifeless bodies, its dissatisfaction was immediate.
"Hmm?? Dead bodies???"
"Well... Consider it a snack for now..."
Orochimaru gave an awkward chuckle, appearing almost submissive in front of Manda.
"Tch..."
Manda snorted, its massive body shifting slightly.
Then, in a sudden burst of fury, it lunged at Orochimaru with terrifying speed, its gaping maw reeking of poison and rot!
Orochimaru's pupils contracted in shock, and he instinctively took a step back.
"Consider yourself lucky I'm in a good mood because of the food. I'll let it slide this time..."
Manda stopped just short of striking, its immense body freezing mid-motion, showcasing its terrifying physical control.
"Next time, bring me 100 offerings. And they'd better be alive!"
Despite Manda's aggressive attitude and intimidation, Orochimaru didn't dare show the slightest hint of displeasure. Instead, he nodded obediently.
"You two brats over there, why aren't you serving me my meal yet?"
Manda lowered its head, its cold reptilian eyes locking onto the two boys.
"Keep dawdling, and I'll swallow you whole!" When neither moved, Manda's anger flared again.
"You two, start feeding the bodies to it..." Orochimaru sighed and gave the order.
"Make sure you strip off the clothes and trash first. I hate anything that isn't flesh."
Manda spoke again, its tone dripping with arrogance.
Nawaki hurried to obey, but Ryun narrowed his eyes slightly.
This beast was far too arrogant. But his Sharingan... was the natural counter to large summon creatures like this.
If not for the others present, he would have taught this creature what true fear felt like.
"What are you staring at? Did my words not reach you?"
Manda suddenly noticed Ryun's gaze, and the look in his eyes filled it with disgust and murderous intent.
"Stop hesitating, come help me..." Nawaki, pale-faced, urgently waved Ryun over.
"Hah... This kid's just scared stiff, that's all..." Orochimaru quickly intervened.
He had also noticed Ryun's expression—this boy showed no fear in the face of Manda's overwhelming presence!
And for a brief moment... there had even been a flash of killing intent!
Such boldness left Orochimaru deeply impressed.
Ryun averted his gaze, no longer meeting Manda's eyes, and joined Nawaki in the grisly task of stripping and tossing the corpses into the snake's gaping maw.
This creature expected to be hand-fed like some kind of emperor—utterly outrageous, beyond intolerable. It deserved death...
But now wasn't the time. Ryun could only grit his teeth and endure.
As Manda devoured corpse after corpse, the massive piles of bodies gradually disappeared.
Once it had eaten its fill, Manda didn't even bother with a farewell before exploding into smoke and returning to the Ryūchi Cave, a blatant show of disrespect toward Orochimaru.
Strangely, Orochimaru didn't seem the least bit angered. In fact, he looked as though he found this behavior completely normal...
"Let's return to the village... The mission is complete!"
After setting the entire bandit stronghold ablaze, Orochimaru turned away from the roaring flames and led the way back to Konoha.
Nawaki instinctively followed his teacher.
"Killing... arson... all done!"
Staring at the towering inferno, Ryun murmured under his breath.
Then, with a soft exhale, he turned decisively and strode after the two figures ahead.
