Chapter 271: Chapter 270 : Psychologist at Cassell College!!
Chu Zihang woke up from his dream and calmly stared at the ceiling.
Outside the window, the sound of light rain could be heard, with raindrops sliding down the transparent glass, blurring the world outside.
This wasn't the first time he had dreamt of the same scene.
Ever since the "incident" four years ago, every time he fell asleep, the images in his dreams replayed over and over, as if trying to remind him—never forget.
But how could he forget?
Because, in this world, perhaps only he still remembered that man.
Someone once said that a person truly dies not when their body perishes, but when there is no one left in the world who remembers them.
On that stormy night, on the overpass, the man held the god-slaying long sword. After casting one last glance at him, he rushed without hesitation toward the supreme god Odin of Norse mythology.
The Gungnir spear, created by the World Tree, was raised high, and its tip erupted with countless flashes of starlight.
However, at that crucial moment, a gray-white dragon appeared. It suddenly interrupted the clash between gods and men.
Its gray-white scales were engraved with countless mysterious runes, as though they extended into the blood and the void. Its eyes, like massive lamps, were a pale golden color with vertical pupils, staring directly at him, filled with emotions and perceptions that could not be put into words.
Yet, just as the pain of needles pricked at his mind, it forced Chu Zihang to stop the memory.
"It's happening again. As expected... I still can't remember more details." Chu Zihang sighed, his fingers pressed against his furrowed brow. His cold, indifferent face showed a hint of bitterness and helplessness. "No matter whether it's a dream or a memory, it always ends here."
It seemed like he had lost a lot of memories about that day.
According to the police who later found him on the overpass, he had been sitting in a $9 million Maybach luxury car, gripping the steering wheel, but unconscious. No one knew why he was there, and no one knew what had happened.
When Chu Zihang woke up in the hospital, he tried desperately to remember what happened after that "dragon" appeared.
But unfortunately, every time he tried to recall the past, he was met with excruciating pain, like being stabbed with needles. It felt as if some unknown force was preventing him from remembering more.
"The Gray Dragon."
The only thing Chu Zihang knew for certain was that gray dragon.
Before, when he hadn't yet encountered the "truth," he had thought it was some kind of illusion or maybe another creature.
But after joining the 'Cassell College', he learned that the "gray dragon" that appeared on that rainy night was definitely real.
Dragons, mythical creatures from ancient legends, actually exist. They ruled the Earth long before humanity and were absolute rulers with powerful bodies and many 'Word Soul (Yanling),' and they are now humanity's greatest enemies.
Cassell College's ultimate goal is to train top talents to hunt dragons.
In this academy, the students' goal is to stop at nothing, using any method or power, to hunt dragons.
Of course, dragon slayers are not ordinary humans. Most of them carry dragon blood, known as 'Hybrids,' superhumans who are a mixture of humans and dragons.
Later, Chu Zihang researched some documents, hoping to find information about the "gray dragon" that appeared that rainy night, but the results were disappointing.
Whether it was secret records of the dragon clans or the most powerful artificial intelligence databases, there was not a single trace of information.
There was no sign that the gray dragon had ever existed.
Beep beep beep.
A message from 'Norma' interrupted Chu Zihang's thoughts and pulled him back into the present.
It was a message from the Execution Bureau. There was a high-risk 'Hybrid' in Brooklyn, New York, who had committed several terrifying crimes. They requested Chu Zihang to prepare and quickly join the Execution Bureau to handle the situation.
It's worth mentioning that Cassell College's Execution Bureau is an elite unit that deals with Hybrid crimes and dragon slaying.
Generally, only outstanding students are chosen to intern with the Execution Bureau, and Chu Zihang was one of them, having carried out many missions.
After a quick wash-up, Chu Zihang put on his clothes, grabbed an umbrella, and walked out of the dormitory.
The sky was still hazy, and a light drizzle was falling.
Chu Zihang walked slowly through the rain, holding a black umbrella. His pace wasn't fast, and his expression was cold as he walked along the stone path.
Just before stepping through the door of the Execution Bureau, he suddenly paused for half a second.
"Hello, Chu Zihang."
A young man dressed in a white coat, looking like a doctor, stood in front of him. With light blonde, curly hair and a gentle smile, he extended his hand.
"I've heard a lot about you, the S-Rank bloodline genius of the Execution Bureau. It's a shame we haven't met before, but I didn't expect to see you here today."
"You are...?"
Chu Zihang asked indifferently. His cold expression wasn't meant to be rude or dismissive—it was just his usual demeanor.
"Heh, I almost forgot to introduce myself."
The young man smiled slightly, then took out a golden-embossed business card and handed it to Chu Zihang. "My name is Adam. I'm a psychologist at Cassell College. It's a pleasure to meet you, Chu Zihang."
"Psychology….. Alchemists?" Chu Zihang took the card and looked at it with a hint of confusion.
He knew about the student council and the Lionheart Society at Cassell College, but this "Psychology Alchemists" was unfamiliar to him.
"Actually, it's just a group for treating psychological trauma."
Adam's expression remained calm and gentle, and his tone was slow and soothing, almost as though it could calm a restless heart. It had a strange, comforting effect.
Looking at the golden-embossed card, for some reason, Chu Zihang felt a strange impulse. He put the card into his pocket and nodded politely. "Alright, I'll stop by if I have time."
After a brief pause, he looked back at Adam and asked, "What are you doing here at the Execution Bureau?"
"What else would I be doing? I've been caught as a laborer."
Adam shrugged, spreading his hands in a mock helpless gesture, and chuckled. "For this mission, I'm a special 'guest'—it seems they need me as an analyst, so I was called in."
"Oh."
Chu Zihang responded shortly, then fell silent.
Fortunately, Raymond from the Execution Bureau happened to walk by. Seeing that the two of them were still outside, he called for them to come in together.
Inside the Execution Bureau's briefing room, the officers who had already arrived were gathered around the round table, their attention focused on the projection screen. They didn't turn around when Chu Zihang and Adam entered.
As soon as they stepped inside, both Chu Zihang and Adam were drawn to the gruesome, bloody image displayed on the screen.
It appeared to be a hospital room, with stark white walls splattered in blood, creating a chilling atmosphere. On the bed lay a corpse — that of a pregnant woman. Her abdomen had been cut open, and the unborn baby inside had been violently dismembered, exposing the raw, blood-red muscle and organs.
The dead woman's eyes were wide open, staring blankly at the ceiling, as if holding endless pain and resentment.
"This is the 'fetus dissection case,' the mission we're dealing with," one of the officers said gravely, his face a deep shade of anger and concern. "There's a high probability that this was done by a dangerous hybrid, but this person is cunning and rarely leaves any traces. We need a psychological expert to analyze their mindset and track them down."
"Hybrid rank?" Chu Zihang asked.
"We initially estimated it to be a B-rank," the officer paused, then sighed bitterly, continuing, "But since the previous officer in charge of the investigation was killed, the threat level has been raised to A-rank. This mission is extremely dangerous."
"I understand," Chu Zihang replied calmly, his expression unchanged.
It seemed like, to him, there was no difference between a B-rank and an A-rank mission.
"Then I'll be counting on you to protect me, Chu Zihang," Adam said with a soft smile, his tone gentle. "After all, my bloodline is only B-rank, and my Word Soul isn't very useful in combat."
"Alright," Chu Zihang responded, as succinct and determined as ever.
