Chapter 3: Plans...

Entering his room, Byakuya wiped his mouth, cleaning off the mess after he ate. He went to his bed and sat down. Summoning his Zanpakuto, he placed it on his crossed legs before closing his eyes.

Opening his eyes, his surroundings had changed. "Hello?" He called out, his voice echoing throughout the space. "There's no point in avoiding me. I know you're confused about the whole situation. Let me explain it to you..."

His words hung in the air for a few minutes before he sighed. "Fine..." He closed his eyes and returned to his room.

He had been doing this ever since he got the Zanpakuto, but all his effort to reach out to the spirit never bore any fruit.

Inside the Hokage's office, Hiruzen sat in contemplation after hearing the report that he received from an Anbu ninja. 'He beat an Uchiha prodigy...' He thought. 'Although the Uchiha boy hadn't known about his abilities, it doesn't matter as in the battlefield, you can't ask your opponent to reveal his strength just so you can win...'

Looking down, he opened a report. It was intelligence gathered by an Anbu about the Kuchiki family. "They worshipped swords..." He muttered the words. 'That can somehow explain the newly developed Kekkei Genkai...' He raised his head and looked at the Anbu. "Call Minato."

The next day, Byakuya went to the Academy as usual, but the day was rather uneventful as they just went over textbook things with no physical exercise today.

When Byakuya got home, he directly went to his backyard and sat cross legged on the ground, delving deep into the memories he had of the original Byakuya.

Every night when he slept, he got a random amount of memories from his counterpart in the Bleach universe. But Byakuya found most of the memories he currently had to be useless.

You see, Shinigami live longer than a normal mortal, so with the original Byakuya's long lifespan, the current Byakuya only received long years of a child Byakuya's memories.

Memories of before he entered the Shino Academy.

'The only thing useful about this is the flash step and the basics of Zanjutsu.' Byakuya thought, skimming through the recent memories, gaining nothing more than some more training with Yoruichi-San.

Standing up, Byakuya pats the dirt off of his pants and assumed position before practicing Shunpo.

'I need to figure out what to do with the Academy...'

---

It had been a few months since Byakuya had enrolled into the academy. Many things had happened during this time.

The Uchiha kid he beat kept on challenging him to a duel. And although the fights kept changing as the Uchiha kept trying to figure out different ways to win against him, Byakuya kept winning.

One day after school, Byakuya had sought out the teacher and asked him to teach him the Three Academy Jutsus. To which the teacher agreed readily.

After mastering the three jutsus, Byakuya had stagnated in his training. His Zanjutsu training had no major breakthroughs while he couldn't get his hands on any higher ranked Jutsus unless he went out to earn merit.

Other than Byakuya, a lot of things had happened during the year. The Second war had finally ended. Although tensions still hung high. People speculated that within a year, another war will break out.

Jiraiya had returned to the Village after a long stay away and he had become the leader of a team of young shinobi.

---

"Haaah..." Byakuya sighed, walking out of the Academy. It was almost the end of the year and the exams were approaching. 'I need to get stronger...' Byakuya thought, clenching his fists in anger. He felt as if the Academy was holding him back at this point.

It had only been helpful to him for the first few months as he learned a lot. But other than that...

'Let's see if I can request an audience with the Hokage...' He thinks, hoping Hiruzen can give him some advice.

He walks into the Hokage Tower and talks to the woman at the front desk. Not long after, he entered the Hokage's office and spots a few people inside. "Hokage-sama." Byakuya ignored the others and bowed slightly to Hiruzen.

"Byakuya." Hiruzen nods before gesturing to the people in the office. "This is my student, Jiraiya and his student, Minato."

Glancing at the legendary figure that looked at him, he bowed slightly. "Kuchiki Byakuya." Then he turned his attention back to the Hokage. "Hokage-sama. I wish to graduate early."

Listening to the Kuchiki boy, the Hokage frowned. "Why? It's only been a few months since you started out... The first year isn't even finished." He said, voicing his doubts.

"I understand, Hokage-sama." Byakuya nodded. "But I feel the Academy won't bring me much strength. I've already mastered the three basic jutsus."

Hiruzen blew out smoke. "I see... Are you sure about your decision?" He asked, knowing full well Byakuya had already reached the requirements of a Genin. 'His Chakra is around High Genin...' He thought.

"Yes, Hokage-sama" Byakuya nodded, his eyes resolute.

Hiruzen looked towards Jiraiya and then Minato, an idea suddenly coming to him. "Well then, there's no need to delay it. Me and Jiraiya will personally oversee your graduation. Your opponent will be Minato over here." He announced.

Jiraiya raised an eyebrow at that. He knew full well that although Minato was only Genin in rank, he was well above it. His chakra comparable to Jonin while his skill level reached high Chunin after he had taught his student a few of his tricks. "Are you sure about this?" He asked the Hokage.

"Why not?" Hiruzen gave a faint smile as he stood up. "Let's go."

Nodding at the Hokage, Byakuya waited for the three of them to go first before following after.

"Hello. I'm Namikaze Minato."

Turning to face his side, Byakuya spotted Minato's outstretched hand. Taking it within his own, Byakuya nods.

Chuckling awkwardly at the silence, Minato brushed it off. "Are you the one with the new Kekkei Genkai?" He asked.

Byakuya only nods at the question. Everyone knew he had a Kekkei Genkai but no one put much thought into it since it only produces a sword for the wielder. The best it was worth for was saving costs on equipment.

After that, the rest of the walk was silent. Before long, they reached the training ground.

"Are you ready, Byakuya?" Hiruzen asks and Byakuya simply nods, as he went and stood opposite Minato.

He saw Jiraiya speak a few words to the yellow haired boy before stepping back.

"Start!"

As soon as Hiruzen's voice reached them, Minato burst forward.

Summoning his Zanpakuto, Byakuya narrowly blocks Minato's kunai. "You're fast." He commented before appearing behind Minato and swinging his sword to the boy's side.

Minato's eyes widen at the speed, but quickly maneuvers his kunai to block the blade and jumps back. Reaching into the bag on his leg, he takes out a few shuriken and throws it towards Byakuya.

*Ting ting ting*

Calmly deflecting it, Byakuya stood still, observing Minato's descent.

"Hmm..." Minato hums, looking at the still figure of Byakuya. So far the fight had been a pure physical one, but he felt he would be on the back end if it continued as it did. Only jutsu used was shunshin by Byakuya. Minato forms a cross seal with his fingers, causing another Minato to appear.

"Hah!" The clone rushed forward, a kunai gripped in his hand while Minato started forming another set of seals.

Byakuya kept his eyes on Minato, ignoring the clone rushing towards him. Seeing the seals, Byakuya moved back keeping his distance between him and the clone while putting it between him and Minato.

"Katon: Endan!"

The flame raged towards the clones back, instantly enveloping it before rushing towards Byakuya who shared the same fate.

Minato narrowed his eyes, sensing chakra behind him. Spinning around, he lifts his kunai, defending himself.

*Ting!*

"Tsk." Byakuya clicked his tongue bringing his sword back before striking out a series of slices, all being blocked by Minato.

"So a close ranged battle?" Minato smirked, swinging his kunai before the katana came close to him. As the steel connected, he forced it outwards, opening Byakuya's defenses. "And that's it..." He muttered his body moving closer to Byakuya.

Byakuya quickly used Hoho and in a burst of speed, he moved back. Reaching his hand to his neck, he felt the warm blood. Minato's Kunai had nicked him.

'I'm... Awa...ke'

Byakuya's eyes widen. He quickly lifted his hand into the air, stopping the oncoming Minato. "Wait." His calm voice cuts through the field, breaking the tension.

Confused at Byakuya's timeout, the three people just turned and glanced at each other while Byakuya sat down cross legged, placing his Zanpakuto on his lap and closed his eyes.
