Chapter 196: Chapter 196: This Is Your Trump Card?

As the Daimyo seethed with rage, Mirai finally decided to visit the Daimyo's mansion.

Seeing Mirai arrive leisurely, the Daimyo bellowed, "Uchiha Mirai, you're three days late!"

Upon arriving in the capital, not only had Mirai openly broken the law and killed someone, but he had also failed to present himself before the Daimyo promptly. Instead, he had been spending his days indulging in food, drink, and leisure with two women, leaving the Daimyo waiting for three whole days.

An absolute outrage!

Faced with the Daimyo's accusations, Mirai replied with a faint smirk, "Have I ever been known for being punctual?"

The Daimyo froze momentarily before his anger flared even higher. The ministers kneeling on either side of him glared at Mirai with hostility.

These self-proclaimed elites would not tolerate a lowly ninja disrespecting their status.

"You insolent fool! How dare you speak to the Daimyo like that?"

"You're nothing but a lowly ninja. Drop that worthless pride of yours in front of us!"

"Bow down and apologize before the Daimyo orders your execution!"

The grating voices from the ministers made Mirai frown.

"Shut up. Say another word, and I'll kill you all."

A palpable killing intent spread through the palace, silencing the haughty ministers. Cold sweat dripped down their faces.

While they knew Mirai had recently killed a civilian and several samurai, those victims were of far lesser status than themselves. None of them had expected a mere ninja to threaten them so boldly.

Panicked, they looked to the Daimyo for help. The Daimyo coughed awkwardly, raising his fan to mask his unease, and addressed Mirai in a softer tone.

"Uchiha Mirai, what brings you to the capital this time?"

Mirai answered calmly, "I intend to become the Fourth Hokage, and the village needs financial support from the nation."

The Daimyo slammed his fan onto the table, his voice cold. "I refuse both of your demands!"

"Not only did you force your way into a non-ninja inn upon arriving, but you also killed multiple people. Your blatant disrespect towards me and my ministers is unacceptable."

"You clearly don't understand your place," he sneered. "Until you kneel and beg for forgiveness, I won't approve your ascension to Hokage, nor will I allocate funds to Konoha."

"Uchiha Mirai, surely you wouldn't want your actions to cause further trouble for your fellow Konoha shinobi?"

The Daimyo's smug expression lingered as he awaited Mirai's reaction.

History had shown him that from the First to the Third Hokage, all ninja leaders would ultimately submit and apologize when he voiced dissatisfaction. He fully expected Mirai to kneel in repentance any moment now.

However, instead of bowing, Mirai let out a disdainful chuckle.

"This is your trump card?" he asked derisively. "It's even more pathetic than I expected."

The Daimyo's face darkened. "What do you mean by that?"

"You seem to misunderstand something," Mirai replied coldly.

"And what would that be?"

"What I just stated weren't requests—they were demands. You don't have the right to refuse."

The ministers erupted in anger before the Daimyo could respond.

"You arrogant ninja! How dare you utter such blasphemy?"

"Fool! This is what happens when we coddle your kind."

"I've always said ninjas need to be kept in check!"

Before they could say more, thick wooden vines burst from the ground, wrapping around their necks. The vines tightened rapidly, snapping their spines with chilling cracks.

In mere moments, over a dozen high-ranking ministers lay dead, their lifeless eyes bulging and tongues protruding grotesquely. The once-furious Daimyo collapsed to the ground in terror.

"You... you killed them? What are you planning?" the Daimyo stammered.

"From this moment on, the ninja world will bow to shinobi," Mirai declared. "And as Hokage, I am the most exalted person in the Land of Fire."

The Daimyo stared in disbelief. "You're insane! Completely insane!"

"Do you not fear the wrath of the entire ninja world?" he shouted. "The other Daimyo won't stand for this!"

The Daimyo's words held some truth, while nations vied for power, they would never allow someone to challenge the foundation of their rule.

Yet Mirai seemed unfazed. Walking closer to the Daimyo, he spoke in a chilling tone.

"Let them come. The more fools that come for me, the more I'll enjoy killing them."

"You'll be hunted by the entire ninja world!" the Daimyo yelled desperately.

"And I'll cut through them all," Mirai replied, pressing his blade against the Daimyo's neck. "If they come for me, I'll slaughter my way across the entire ninja world."

Feeling the icy steel against his throat, the Daimyo trembled violently. Any semblance of composure fled as he begged for his life.

"Mercy! Please, don't kill me! I'll grant all your demands—no, your orders! From now on, the Land of Fire will serve you. Wealth, resources, status, women—whatever you desire, it's yours!"

Mirai sighed. "And yet vermin like you think you can stand above me?"

As someone from a modern world, Mirai found it baffling how the ninja of this world allowed themselves to be subjugated by such weaklings. To him, it was pure masochism.

Tired of wasting time, Mirai raised his blade to end the Daimyo's life. But before he could strike, several figures rushed toward him.

A flurry of powerful attacks enveloped Mirai, but as the dust settled, a red skeletal figure emerged, shielding him completely.

The spectral arm of Susanoo extended outward, crushing a short-haired man wielding a tri-section staff with ease. Blood sprayed as the man was reduced to pulp.

As the other attackers revealed themselves, Mirai smiled faintly.

"Asuma, it's been a while."
