Naruto: Reincarnated as a Demon King

Chapter 18: 18. Scholarship?!

----

Late Night Training

By the time Raiden finally stopped training, it was already late into the night three hours past his intended time. Drenched by the relentless rain, his excitement finally settled down.

"That's enough for today."

Holding his growling stomach, Raiden decided to head home. Dinner time was definitely over, but he wasn't worried.

When he arrived home, just as expected, A table full of food was neatly set out for him. Although everything was cold, it didn't matter to Raiden.

For someone with good teeth and a bottomless appetite, cold food was no problem! Just as he was about to grab a rice ball, his hand suddenly paused.

A small note was tucked under the plate.

"Did you lose track of time again?! Why can't you just make things easier for me? Do you even want to eat?!"

At this part, the handwriting halted for a long time, as if the writer hesitated. A dark ink blot had spread across the paper, noticeably larger than the tip of the pen showing an internal struggle.

Finally, the note continued—

"Since you're back, go wash your hands and eat. There's an exam tomorrow, so don't be late!"

At the bottom, a little angry face was drawn and signed by Izumi. Seeing the cute little expression at the end, Raiden couldn't help but smile slightly.

Clasping his hands together, he murmured—

"Itadakimasu!"

After finishing his meal, Raiden noticed something unusual.

Normally, ten servings of food would leave him 70-80% full.

But today?

He was only half full, and that wasn't all; he felt something changing inside him. Not externally, but deep within his organs!

His heartbeat was stronger.

His appetite had increased.

His lungs seemed to hold more air than before.

"Strange… I didn't do any special training today."

No matter how physically strong a ninja became, their internal organs remained fragile which was exactly why the Hyūga Clan's Gentle Fist was so terrifying.

After all, organs couldn't be trained.

Or at least… that's what everyone thought.

But Raiden felt his organs strengthening!

"Why? What changed? Aside from… getting struck by lightning while I was asleep…"

"Wait, don't tell me…"

"Does getting struck by lightning actually strengthen my internal organs?!"

That would be the dumbest power-up method ever. What was he supposed to do now? Go out and get struck by lightning on purpose?!

With an exhausted sigh, Raiden decided to drop the subject. His gaze drifted to the note on the table again, the little angry face of Izumi catching his eye.

He had never forgotten their promise.

They would enter the Elite Class together and Raiden was a man of his word.

"Forget it. Time for bed."

Pushing back his chair, he stood up and stretched. Since the exam started early in the morning, he needed to wake up on time.

So after washing up, he immediately collapsed into bed.

---

The weekend was over.

The next phase of practical training was about to begin.

The first round had taken place on Friday afternoon a one-on-one battle system. Half of the students had been eliminated immediately.

For those students, the Elite Class was no longer an option, As for whether they would end up in the standard class or the lowest-ranked class, Raiden didn't care.

Getting into the Elite Class meant attracting the attention of Konoha's top figures and that was exactly what Raiden needed.

The Hyūga Clan wouldn't act recklessly as long as the Uchiha Clan was watching them closely.

If they weren't worried about their reputation, the Hyūga Clan would have already sent someone to deal with him.

Nobody could disappear without a trace, and no one would care. Especially someone like Raiden, who had no family.

If he died one day, no one would remember him

Except for Izumi, But a widely recognized genius?

That was a different story.

If a talented individual suddenly disappeared, people would investigate. Even minor injuries would catch the attention of Konoha's leadership.

What Raiden really wanted—

Was Hiruzen Sarutobi's attention.

If not Hiruzen, then at least one of the Sannins.

That way, he wouldn't have to worry about the Hyūga Clan trying anything in secret.

"Raiden!"

The moment he walked into the classroom, a sweet, familiar voice called out to him.

It was Izumi.

Ignoring the odd stares from the other students, Raiden walked straight toward her.

Thanks to the Uchiha Clan spreading the news, his public humiliation of the Hyūga Clan had already become infamous.

The students in Class 2 looked at Raiden strangely.

Some were curious.

Some were shocked.

Some didn't believe it.

But that underlying dislike from certain people never disappeared.

Whether people liked him or hated him Raiden didn't care.

If he had spent his life caring about others' opinions, he would have died from stress long ago. As long as no one crossed his bottom line, he didn't care about whispers, stares, or insults.

"Did you eat properly yesterday?"

Izumi narrowed her eyes at Raiden, pretending to be angry.

"Mmm!"

Raiden nodded vigorously.

Food was always a priority! But then, he hesitated, as if he wanted to say something.

"Raiden? What is it?"

Izumi tilted her head, looking adorably confused.

"Could you… um…"

"Could you add more food next time?"

Izumi's eyes widened in shock.

"Wait… you're telling me… you weren't full?!"

She covered her mouth, unable to believe it. That was enough food for ten full-grown men and she had even added extra potatoes and sweet potatoes to make it more filling! And he was still hungry?!

"Yeah… Lately, I feel like my appetite has gotten bigger."

"Yesterday, I was only about half full."

Raiden had no idea why he could eat so much But since his body was getting stronger, it made sense.

As long as he kept improving, food was a small price to pay.

Izumi's eye twitched.

"You're just a kid! Where does all that food go?!" She did a quick mental calculation.

Fifty of her would barely equal one Raiden in terms of food intake.

"Forget about money. We agreed that if you help out at the shop, we'd provide your meals."

"So I'll keep feeding you."

Raiden immediately grinned.

"Thanks a lot!"

"Don't thank me yet. I have conditions." Izumi held up one finger with a playful smirk.

"What conditions?"

"For today's team battle, you better not drag me down!"

Raiden's eyes narrowed.

"Team battle?"

"It's a free-for-all survival match."

"Four battle arenas each one only allows four winners to advance."

"That means only 16 people will enter the Elite Class."

"Oh, and there's a scholarship if you rank high!"

'A Scholarship?!'

Raiden's eyes sparkled, and a creepy smile formed on his face.
