"Once I get back to Konoha, I need to ask Tenten's father to make more of these. Just a few won't cut it."
Guts muttered to himself, scanning the deck. Less than half the shells remained, and they had only been firing for ten minutes.
Still, he wasn't surprised. This wasn't some lumbering marine ship from One Piece that let Garp hurl cannonballs all day. Ninjas didn't just sit still and wait to get hit.
This tactic worked well against someone like the Cloud Shinobi—brute strength, poor at long-range.
But try it against someone like Gara? Forget it. That guy blocks Deidara's C4 bombs with a yawn.
It was a rare trick that only worked under the right circumstances.
Useful for now, though.
"Hyuga! What's the situation with the Cloud Shinobi?"
Guts, holding a still-hot cannonball in one hand, turned to the Hyuga Chūnin beside him.
Despite being nearly twice Guts' age, the Hyuga answered with respectful urgency,
"Lord Guts, though Ay resisted many of the shots, their forces took a serious hit. Roughly a third of the Cloud Shinobi are down and unable to fight."
Before he could finish, Guts kicked him backwards without warning.
In midair, the stunned Hyuga saw why.
A massive figure had appeared where he had just stood. Nearly two meters tall, his entire body crackled with lightning.
Without hesitation, the man launched a devastating kick at Guts.
"The Third Raikage?!"
White Fang's voice rang out in disbelief.
Realizing the threat instantly, he barked orders to the others,
"Scatter! Now!"
The Third Raikage's foot swung fast, but Guts moved faster—or maybe it just looked that way. In truth, he didn't even understand how he reacted in time.
But thanks to his observation haki, he saw it coming.
"Hah!"
Guts let out a savage grin, twisting his hips and driving a tight uppercut right into the incoming leg.
BOOM!
The collision of fist and foot cracked the air like thunder. The shockwave alone was enough to rival a high-level ninjutsu.
Sparks from the Raikage's Lightning Chakra Armor rained down, igniting several nearby shells and triggering a chain of explosions.
White Fang had seen it coming. He had already ordered the others to disperse, minimizing the damage.
Without Guts' haki and sheer physical power, the cannonballs weren't much more than glorified explosive tags.
Still, the explosion took out a chunk of the Cloud forces. For Konoha, it was a win.
Guts and the Third Raikage were knocked back by the clash, both landing hard. Guts rolled to his feet beside White Fang.
"I'd heard the Raikage weren't slow," Guts said, brushing ash from his cloak.
"But I didn't know he could teleport."
White Fang frowned, eyes narrowing.
"It's not true teleportation. Cloud has a secret space-jutsu for material transport. Normal shinobi would be crushed by the pressure."
"But someone with the Raikage's body... yeah, he could survive it."
Guts nodded, remembering something similar during the Fourth Ninja War.
Tsunade and the Fourth Raikage had used that same trick to move quickly across the battlefield.
White Fang continued,
"He probably intended to jump behind our lines during the chaos. Take us by surprise. Your barrage must've thrown him off."
"Guess I got lucky,"
Guts smirked, taking a step forward.
"Uncle, you take the others and handle the main forces. I'll deal with this lightning freak."
"You?" White Fang looked skeptical.
"The Third Raikage's a full-blown Kage-level monster. Even Lord Hokage wouldn't be confident taking him alone."
"Exactly why I want to try."
Guts cracked his knuckles, eyes gleaming.
"The stronger the enemy, the more I enjoy it. Don't worry, I'm not planning to die today."
Without waiting for a reply, Guts charged forward.
White Fang didn't argue. Instead, he drew his blade and roared,
"All units, prepare for battle!"
With that, the two armies clashed.
On the far end of the battlefield, Guts stood alone before the Third Raikage.
"You think you can handle me by yourself, brat? Arrogant little bastard."
Despite Guts' grown stature, his face still had the youthful edge of a teenager. The Raikage easily guessed his age, and was not impressed.
To send a kid to fight him alone? That was an insult to his title as "The Strongest Raikage in History."
"You should be Honored and... Lucky!"
Guts said, tightening the haki around his fists.
"I'm still a kid, and yet in this war...you'll die by my hands."
"Big talk from a brat! Lightning Bolt of Pain!"
"You talk too much, old man!"
They collided again! Guts fist smashing into the Raikage's chakra-infused hand blade. Lightning crackled. Earth split. Air roared.
And as the force traveled up his arm, the Third Raikage's expression changed.
He had to admit...this kid wasn't bluffing.
