Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Excited Lord Hashirama
A buzzing sound echoed through the air.
Naruto, using Flying Thunder God, took off immediately, bringing Hashirama, Tobirama, Hiruzen, Minato, Shisui, and Itachi along with him. In the blink of an eye, they left Orochimaru's underground laboratory, heading directly toward Konoha.
With a whoosh, the group of seven reappeared—this time in a concealed area within the Hidden Leaf Village.
As they landed, a burst of dust billowed out due to the space-time fluctuation caused by the teleportation.
"Ahem! Kid, where exactly did you take us? Why is it so dusty here?" Tobirama was the first to complain, brushing off the dirt from his robes with visible irritation.
Hiruzen fared worse. Being the eldest among the four reanimated Hokage, he coughed heavily after inhaling a mouthful of dust.
Hashirama, on the other hand, looked exhilarated. Compared to the smoke and ash from his battles with Madara, this level of dust was nothing.
Minato coughed a few times, looked around, and suddenly said in surprise, "Wait a second... This place…"
Naruto smiled and turned to look at his father. "Yup, this is your house, Dad."
Hearing that, Hiruzen narrowed his eyes and observed the familiar surroundings more carefully. It was indeed the home Minato once lived in.
Minato froze for a moment, slowly stepping forward. He walked around the house, trailing his fingers along the walls and doors, memories flashing vividly in his mind.
Unknowingly, a wave of sorrow rose in his chest. He felt the urge to cry—but he couldn't.
Because he had been resurrected via the Impure World Reincarnation, even if he felt overwhelming sadness, no tears would fall.
Shisui and Itachi quietly observed Minato's back, their eyes reflecting a deep, wordless sympathy.
Naruto stepped up and gently patted his father's back.
Minato inhaled deeply, collecting himself. Then, with a renewed smile, he turned around and said, "Let's head out. I want to see the village again."
Naruto nodded, then turned to the group. "If we walk out looking like this, we'll attract too much attention. Let's all use Transformation Jutsu to blend in as ordinary villagers."
Everyone agreed, nodding silently.
In the next moment, a wave of chakra flickered, and they all transformed into civilian forms, blending seamlessly with the local populace. Just as they were about to step out, Naruto suddenly raised his hand.
Tobirama frowned. "What now, kid?"
Naruto didn't move. "Wait a second."
Hashirama narrowed his eyes. He had sensed a subtle chakra fluctuation from Naruto.
Sure enough, Naruto's eyes turned orange. The distinct pigmentation around his eyes returned—Sage Mode had been activated.
Cross-legged, Naruto pressed his palms together and began to sense the surroundings with the heightened perception of Mount Myōboku's Sage Mode.
Tobirama raised an eyebrow. "Brother, is this...?"
Hashirama nodded with admiration. "Yes, it's Sage Mode—looks like Mount Myōboku's variant. I think Naruto's trying to check the area before we move, to make sure it's safe."
He turned toward Minato and added with a proud smile, "Fourth Hokage, you've raised an excellent son."
Minato's eyes softened. Hearing praise from the First Hokage filled him with warmth—and also a hint of guilt. After all, he hadn't raised Naruto himself. Everything Naruto achieved was entirely his own doing.
"You flatter me, Lord First," Minato said humbly, glancing at Naruto.
As a father, Minato was proud. But he also understood the price Naruto paid to become the man he was today. When they were last reunited, Naruto had told him that for most of his childhood, people only called him the Nine-Tails Demon Fox.
Minato could understand Hiruzen's reasoning back then, but at the same time, looking at Naruto now—at all his strength and resilience—a tinge of resentment crept into his heart.
Why?
Obito, his own student, had turned to darkness just because he lost Rin. But Naruto? Despite losing both parents at birth, growing up shunned and isolated, he hadn't turned evil. Instead, he'd become the hope of the village.
Minato didn't know whether he should feel proud, or guilty.
If Naruto had been weaker... Konoha might've been reduced to ruins a long time ago.
Ten seconds later, Naruto opened his eyes and stood up, a smile forming on his face.
"I just sensed the entire village. Granny Tsunade and Pervy Sage aren't here. A lot of the people I know are missing. My guess? They're probably out working on forming the Allied Shinobi Forces."
He paused before adding, "Right now, most of the village's main forces are deployed outside. Inside, it's relatively quiet. It's the perfect time for us to walk around and look around."
Tobirama gave Naruto a long look, nodding slightly.
The more he observed this kid, the more he reminded him of his elder brother.
Not just because of the Sage Mode—but the way he planned, the calm presence, the leadership.
But Naruto also had something else—an edge, a certain extremity. He had a deep reverence for power and seemed drawn to collect it. That part... reminded Tobirama of the Uchiha.
"Alright," Naruto said cheerfully. "Let's head out."
He opened the door, peeked out, then waved to the group. "No one's around this area. Let's go!"
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Everyone filed out of the house and gathered at the roadside.
Naruto locked the door behind him and hopped down. "Alright, everyone! Time to enjoy a walk through the village we all once protected."
And just like that, they stepped out into the streets of Konoha.
"Wow! It's so much more prosperous than I remember!"
"My goodness... Look at how tall the buildings are!"
"Everyone looks so happy. The village... it's thriving."
Hashirama walked with a huge smile on his face, soaking in the view.
This village—the one he and Madara had dreamed of building—was now a peaceful, flourishing home for the next generation.
He was deeply moved.
Tobirama, though equally pleased, maintained a composed demeanor. He turned to his brother and said in a low voice, "Brother, please restrain yourself. We're supposed to be villagers now. Don't act so conspicuous. People will notice."
Minato and Hiruzen exchanged smiles. The changes in the village weren't too surprising to them—after all, they hadn't been gone that long compared to Hashirama and Tobirama.
Shisui, like Hashirama, was visibly curious and excited, but he kept his behavior in check.
Itachi inhaled deeply, letting the feeling of peace wash over him.
It had been so long since he'd been able to walk through Konoha without tension or fear. Not since that night…
Naruto took the lead, turned a corner, and soon arrived at one end of the commercial district. When he saw the familiar shop sign, his face lit up.
"We're here!" he said with a grin.
Hiruzen chuckled. "I figured."
Minato's eyes softened. Ichiraku Ramen... It was a place filled with fond memories for him too.
Hashirama and Tobirama, however, were unfamiliar with it.
"Come on, everyone. My treat! One bowl of ramen each."
Shisui and Itachi exchanged glances and smiled. They, too, remembered the taste.
Naruto pushed aside the curtain, stepping into the shop. It was just past one in the afternoon, a lull in business. The shop was mostly empty.
"Uncle! Seven bowls of miso ramen, please!" Naruto called out.
Teuchi turned, beaming. "Coming right up! Just give me a minute!"
