Naruto: Reborn as Zoro

The day after taking Granny Suzu's inheritance, Zoro and Hiyori leave the Land of Waves. They have tidied up Granny Suzu's house and handed it over to the village because they won't return there anytime soon.

At most, they will return here to visit Hiyori's parents' and Granny Suzu's graves. So it's better to hand over Granny's house to the village because then it will be taken care of.

Zoro has made sure to hide all of Granny's personal belongings in the hidden vault. He also destroyed the mechanism to open the vault to avoid anyone opening it by accident.

Everyone bids them farewell as they leave. The villagers are very grateful to Zoro for taking down Gato because most of their family members were forced to work in Gato's company and now they are free.

Zoro and Hiyori ride on Torao's back. They go to the bridge maker's village to see the progress of the bridge they are building now before leaving the Land of Waves.

"Are you leaving?" Kakashi asks when they watch the bridge's construction.

"Yeah, we will go to Konoha to check Hiyori's health."

"She's sick?" Sakura asks worriedly.

"She was starving for days after drifting on the sea and river then got stranded in the forest until I found her. Although she looks okay now, I'm still worried that she still has medical problems, so I need a doctor to check her. But there's no good doctor here, so we will go to Konoha."

Team Kakashi is very surprised to hear what happened to Hiyori. They would never imagine a bright child like her has gone through something horrifying like that

"Was that why you hunted Gato who wasn't even a wanted ninja?" Kakashi now realizes why the infamous Ninja Hunter killed a normal person.

Even if Gato was a scumbag, Zoro wouldn't bother killing him under normal circumstances. Zoro is known to only hunt wanted ninjas and the strong ones at that. But now he hunted a normal criminal which confused Kakashi until this moment.

"I was just disposing trash, nothing much. By the way, I met 2 missing nins from Kiri when I destroyed Gato's place. I believe one was Zabuza Momochi, but I don't know the other one. They fled as soon as they saw me. I don't have time to chase them, so I let them get away. They shouldn't be here anymore because I can't sense them at all sometime after they fled. But you still need to be careful."

"I see. We actually fought them before we arrived here. I know they worked for Gato, so I thought that you have killed them to get their bounty rewards, but I wasn't sure either." Kakashi buys Zoro's little lie.

"If it was a normal situation, then I would have hunted them as usual. But I had something more important to do at that time, so I let them live. Well, I can just hunt them anytime I want, anyway. They weren't that big of a deal."

Team 7's eyes twitch when they hear that Zoro doesn't think of Zabuza and Haku as worthy opponents. After all, they were struggling when they fought Zabuza alone even if they won in the end.

But they also know that Zoro doesn't brag because they've felt his power with their own bodies. If he could toy with them, then he could also toy with Zabuza.

After talking with Team 7 for a while, Zoro and Hiyori finally leave the Land of Waves, riding on Torao's back. They go to Konoha at a relaxed pace. Usually, Zoro and Torao were moving quickly, but they are with Hiyori who isn't used to traveling like this now, so they slow down.

Besides, Hiyori is enjoying the ride. This is the first time she runs on the tree branches, so she is very amazed by it. Running fast now will ruin the enjoyment, so it's better to slow down for a better experience.

They don't take the normal route and choose to move through different terrains so that Hiyori won't be bored on her first trip. She will be bored if they only move through the forest because it will be monotone.

So they move through the forest, open road, mountain, valley, river, and other places even though it will make their trip take longer than what it should be. But it's worth the effort to give Hiyori a good first trip across the country.

They also visit a few towns on their way to Konoha. This one is Zoro's habit though. He always visits towns during his trip unless it's during his hunt. He enjoys visiting places and it seems Hiyori also likes it.

It's her first time visiting places other than those in her country, so everything is new to her. That's why they take their time a little in these towns even though they don't stay for as long as when Zoro visits the towns.

They still need to reach Konoha soon, so they only stay in the towns to rest for the night or to eat good food because Zoro wants to give Hiyori decent places to rest and eat for her first trip. He really starts to act like a dad now.

After 4 days, they finally arrive in Konoha and they can enter it easily because Zoro is very well known by the guards here. It's still quite early, so they immediately go to the hospital for Hiyori's medical check-up.

On their way there, Zoro coincidentally meets with Shizune. They know each other quite well because of Tsunade. That nosy old woman often forced Zoro to gamble with her, but their gambling method was fighting.

The loser needed to pay the winner, so it's basically a betting duel. Tsunade always won in the past, but she started losing more and more since a few years ago, so she stopped picking a fight with Zoro because she kept losing money.

Shizune is Tsunade's assistant and she is always by Tsunade's side, so she obviously knows Zoro. She is also of a similar age with Zoro, so they get closer quite easily. Zoro also often talks to her to ask about medical things because she is easier to talk to than Tsunade.

"Eh? Zoro-san?"

"Oh, Shizune, what a coincidence. Great, now I don't need to worry about getting a good doctor."

"What do you mean? Are you injured?"

"No, not me. It's her, I want to do a medical check up on her. Can I ask your help for it, Shizune?"

Zoro points at Hiyori who curiously inspect Tonton the pig that walks beside Shizune.

"... You have a daughter?" Her response is the same as Kakashi, surprised and thinks that Hiyori is Zoro's daughter.

The corner of Zoro's mouth twitch. "She isn't my daughter, but I will raise her from now on, so she is my responsibility. I will explain it to you later, but for now, can you help me with her medical check up?"

"A-ah, well, I am currently doing an errand for Lady Tsunade and am on my way back to her house. So how about you go with me and we do it there?"

"Oh, thanks a lot, Shizune. Alright, let's go."

Zoro lifts Hiyori and puts her on Tonton's back without the pig's consent. Then he just walks away toward Tsunade's house, followed by the sighing Shizune and the annoyed Tonton that has the happy Hiyori on her back.

Although Tonton is annoyed to be used as a child's mount, she is still walking carefully so Hiyori won't fall. But Hiyori has ridden Torao at a rather high speed, so Tonton's slow walk isn't that challenging for her.

"Wah, you are so strong Ms. Pig. I like it faster, but I don't want you to be injured, so be careful, alright?"

Her concern somehow makes Tonton feel insulted because it implies that she is weak. So Tonton starts running faster, making Zoro and Shizune raise their eyebrows. But now they need to run too because they can't let a pig and a kid just run fast on the street.

Because of that, they quickly arrive at Tsunade's house, which is quite a big house. Well, she is the princess of Senju clan, the granddaughter of the 1st Hokage, so she obviously inherits a big house.

Tonton is dead tired after running quite far with Hiyori on her back. But she manages to show that she isn't weak to Hiyori and gets very smug when Hiyori compliments her happily.

"I was wondering why it was unusually noisy. Turns out an annoying guest has come. What do you want, brat? .... Is that your daughter?" Tsunade also assumes that Hiyori is Zoro's daughter as soon as she comes out of the house.

"..... Let's just talk inside."

"You better not come empty-handed."

Torao comes out of Zoro's shadow in his cat-size form. He has a bottle of sake in his mouth and he throws it to Tsunade even without Zoro asking him too. Torao is really sensible, truly the best support for the muscle brain.

"Fine, get in."

Tsunade lets them in. This turns out great for Zoro and Hiyori. Now they can get the help of the best medical ninja, so they won't need to worry about being wrongly diagnosed.
