Chapter 149: Interlude: The World of Tomorrow (2 of 2)

Uchiha Hikari leaned forward for a kiss, but Sasuke expertly dodged out of the way. Shocked by her husband's unusually cold demeanour, Hikari immediately activated her Sharingan to check him for the Transformation Jutsu, surprising Sasuke in turn by revealing herself to be a pure-blooded adult Uchiha.

"Your arm!" Hikari gasped, covering her mouth with her hands. "Come in quickly, let's have that looked at…"

Hikari grabbed Sasuke's arm and dragged him into the living room, where half a dozen children of varying ages were playing with their toys and video games.

"Go get your mothers, Kaori, Kokoa, Inori," Hikari told the three oldest. "Sarada, go fetch me the first-aid box in the bathroom…"

As he watched his children jump to their feet to obey Hikari's instructions, Sasuke began to feel the onsets of a headache. How many wives did he have in this harem? And just how many children had they given birth to!?

"Yay, it's papa!" the younger children cried out happily. "Tell us another story about your adventures!"

A few seconds later, three breathtakingly beautiful women came down the stairs, their long hair messy and their skin looking rather flushed and sweaty— evidently, he'd just caught them in the middle of an intensive workout session.

"No fair," pouted one of the youngest children. "I wanna play pro-wrestling with Mama too!"

The first woman down the stairs, Sasuke recognised as his old partner from Team Hebi/Taka— it was the red-headed Karin, who was still just as terminally flat-chested as ever.

The second woman, Sasuke recognised as a slightly bustier version of Yamanaka Ino. He knew she'd once pined after him, but he'd always ignored her advances. As far as he knew, she'd quickly given up on him after his defection from the Leaf and married some ex-Root bloke. He had no idea why she'd instead be married to him in this timeline, though…

As for the third woman… Sasuke could already feel his blood rushing to his nether regions with just a single glance in her direction— it was his wife, his beloved Sakura. Her breasts were much bigger than they had been in the past, but they had somehow maintained their youthful perkiness. And with her taller and curvier figure, Sakura's bust no longer made her look like she was constantly on the verge of toppling over. Motherhood had widened her hips and rounded out her lower half, causing her sex appeal to shoot through the roof…

"Welcome home, dear," said Sakura softly. "Would you like dinner? A bath?"

"Or perhaps…" the three wives chorused, "us…?"

Sasuke felt his head go blank, as the three women took him by the arm and guided him up the stairs to their bedroom.

Even if Boruto had ceased to exist in this timeline, even if his little sister Himawari had never been born… Sasuke felt that perhaps, it would be worth it to just let things stay this way…

"This isn't the time for that!" shouted the fourth wife Hikari, her face flushing bright red. "In case you haven't noticed, our husband is missing an entire arm!"

A distant memory flickered to life in Sakura's head.

It had been years since she had last thought of the other world where she originated from— the place where her parents and her older sister still lived, the place where she had once watched the anime known as Naruto…

In that anime, a lot of things had gone a lot differently, but in this timeline, Sasuke had never left the village and lost his left arm fighting a pointless battle against his true love, Naruto. After giving up on revenge, he had decided to focus on restoring the Uchiha clan, one woman at a time…

After the war, Uchiha Sasuke had become just as much a hero of the village as Naruto. And with his hero status combined with his good looks, women had fallen over themselves for the opportunity to carry his elite genes, and as a result, her Sasuke had become somewhat of a playboy…

On top of having children with his four legal wives, Sakura, Karin, Ino and Hikari, he had also produced one offspring with every single woman renting out a house in the New Uchiha District… it was part of the lease agreement!

Sakura didn't mind having to share her husband with all of these women— because they were just as much hers as they were Sasuke's!

-------------------------------------------------

While Sasuke was rediscovering the joys of marriage, Boruto had gone straight to his house— and to his relief, he had found his mother Hinata and his little sister Himawari waiting for him at home at the door. Thankfully, they hadn't been wiped from existence by his little jaunt through time.

"Where were you, Boruto?" Hinata chided him. "I told you to come home early because of our guests! It's not every day your Uncle Neji comes to visit!"

Boruto goggled at her.

"Uncle Neji?" said Boruto in confusion. "Isn't he, er… dead?"

Hinata sighed.

"I know things were touch-and-go for a while, but I've never wanted Cousin Neji dead," she said. "Now come on, our guests are waiting."

Hinata ushered Boruto into the dining room, where Naruto was busy entertaining their dinner guests; Neji, Tenten, and an unknown boy that looked about his age.

"Ah, before you hit me," said Naruto hurriedly, as he watched his son entering the dining room, "I'm the real Naruto, okay? I definitely won't disappear if you punch me, ya know! So don't do it!"

"Yo, Boruto!" the boy greeted him. "It's been a while."

"Er…" said Boruto, scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment, "What's your name, again? It must have slipped my mind, ya know…"

"That's our cousin Natsu, Big Brother," said Himawari sweetly. "Did you hit your head, or something?"

(Natsu sounds like nuts, Neji means screw in Japanese, Boruto is a JP way of saying bolt. Nuts, screws and bolts— they're all fasteners! In case you didn't know, Naruto and Hinata had given their son the name Boruto to honour Neji's sacrifice)

"Ehhh!?" exclaimed Boruto in surprise. "I think I'd know if I had a cousin, ya know!?"

"If you keep pretending not to know me," said Natsu patiently, "you're going to hurt my feelings."

Boruto finally began piecing the clues together— apparently, Neji had survived the Fourth Great Shinobi War, and he had married Tenten, which meant that…

"Then," Boruto blurted out. "What happened to Metal Lee?"

"Metal Lee?" said Tenten curiously. "Our old teammate from Team 3 is called Lee, but I don't think he's got family of any kind…"

In the original timeline, Tenten had ended up sleeping with Lee in her grief over the loss of Neji, after which she had ended up giving birth to Metal Lee. However, after Tenten experienced a bit of postpartum psychosis, Rock Lee had ended up getting full custody of their son.

In this timeline, with Tenten happily married to Neji (and with Sasuke hogging all the women), there naturally existed no woman depressed enough to consider sleeping with Bushy Brows, so he had never ended up having a son; and thus, Metal Lee had been erased from existence, and a new person had taken his place…

"I need to go," said Boruto abruptly, his face paling.

"What's the matter?" asked Naruto in concern.

Boruto raced out of his home and into the night, but what happened next is a story for hundreds of chapters in the future…
