Chapter 167: 167. Some Things Never Change!
◉◉◉◉◉
Sakura couldn't help but laugh.
Despite all the training and growth, Naruto was still a little nervous around Neji. That hadn't changed.
But as she gave Naruto another once-over, she raised an eyebrow.
"Wait… are you taller than me now?"
"Huh?" Naruto blinked. He stood up straighter and mimicked a comparison gesture. "Whoa. Guess I am!"
Sakura chuckled at his goofiness. He definitely looked stronger filled out, better fed, and somehow… lighter.
"Naruto-nii—!!"
A shout rang out, followed by a cloud of dust hurtling toward them.
Konohamaru launched himself into the crowd, skidding to a stop in front of them.
"Sexy Jutsu!"
Poof!
Smoke exploded. A curvy woman struck a provocative pose right in the middle of the street, shocking a few bystanders and completely flooring Jiraiya, whose jaw practically unhinged.
Everyone else?
Dead silence. Shared judgment.
Sakura facepalmed. Neji raised an eyebrow. Kakashi just sighed like this was his daily routine.
Poof!
Konohamaru reverted and gave Naruto a confident thumbs-up. "What do you think? Pretty busty, right? That curve game?"
Naruto stared, then… chuckled softly.
Konohamaru tilted his head.
Naruto's expression had shifted—mature, calm, composed. "I'm not a kid anymore, Konohamaru. You shouldn't keep relying on that trick either."
Sakura smiled softly at that.
So… he has changed.
There was a quiet strength behind his words. It felt like Naruto had finally grown up.
But then—
"HOWEVER—!"
Naruto's grin turned mischievous. "That version's totally outdated! Let me show you the ultimate adult version!"
Sakura's smile froze.
No…
Don't do it.
But it was too late.
Naruto performed a hand seal, eyes gleaming.
"Ultra Sexy Reverse Harem Jutsu—!!"
Sakura's temple twitched.
The last thread of her patience snapped.
Veins bulged.
Her fists clenched.
Her chakra surged.
"YOU IDIOT!"
BOOM!
With a roar and a blur of movement, she punched Naruto into the pavement. A perfect crater bloomed beneath him.
Silence.
Everyone stared at the massive hole as Naruto's legs twitched in the air.
Sakura loomed over him, eyes blazing.
"You've been back for two minutes and already pissed me off!"
Naruto groaned, dazed. "Wha… what happened…?"
"And to think—I almost had feelings for you, you idiot!"
She grabbed his collar and shook him like a ragdoll.
Kakashi stepped forward, sweat trickling down his neck. "Uh… Sakura, maybe dial it down? You're scaring Konohamaru."
She paused. Turned.
That look.
Predator mode: engaged.
Kakashi flinched.
But luckily, the rage passed.
Sakura blinked and came back to herself, muttering a soft "Hmph" before letting Naruto slump back into the ground.
Tsunade looked at the mess and sighed.
"Jiraiya, what the hell have you been teaching him?"
Jiraiya looked away, sheepish. "I, uh… he might've picked up a few habits on the road."
'Just like you' Tsunade thought. 'Except now there are two of you.'
"Alright," she said, clapping her hands. "Enough reunion chaos. Kakashi!"
Kakashi finally closed his precious new copy of Make-Out Tactics and nodded.
"From this moment forward, the three of us—Naruto, Sakura, and I are equals. No more teacher-student roles. We're Konoha shinobi, shoulder to shoulder."
He pulled two familiar bells from his belt.
"Time for a rematch."
Sakura and Naruto smirked.
This was their chance to prove it.
They weren't kids anymore.
---
As the trio headed toward the training grounds, Konohamaru slipped away in the opposite direction.
A scary grandma. A pervy old man. A white-haired ghost brother.
Nope. Not today.
---
Meanwhile, Jiraiya turned to Neji, eyeing him curiously.
"Neji, you've changed. Stronger. I can feel it. And the hair… What happened?"
Neji gave a modest smile. "Let's just say my teacher put me through hell. And now I'm a Jonin."
"As for the hair… bloodline thing, apparently. Woke up one day with it snow-white. Tsunade checked, but couldn't find anything wrong."
Jiraiya stroked his chin. "So your potential just... exploded?"
Tsunade scoffed. "Don't give me credit. I barely taught him anything. The brat picks up everything instantly. No sense of struggle."
"He's so damn efficient, even I can't beat him unless I go full power. His chakra control, endurance, and explosiveness are absurd."
"Seriously," she added, crossing her arms. "He's annoying."
Jiraiya chuckled. "Well, you raised a monster."
His eyes lingered on Neji.
"Still… your eyes. I thought Tsunade fixed them?"
"She did," Neji replied calmly. "But I kept them closed. It's a habit now. Sharpens my senses and misleads enemies."
Tsunade added a sigh, "I told him to stop. He tried keeping them open for a while, then said it dulled his perception."
Jiraiya looked amused, but nodded.
"Well, I won't be staying," he said, expression turning serious. "Akatsuki's starting to move. I need to get ahead of whatever they're planning."
Tsunade nodded. "Be careful. We're keeping tabs from our side too."
They both fell silent, understanding the weight of what was coming.
Jiraiya turned to go.
"Take care, brat," he called over his shoulder.
His white hair disappeared down the road.
---
Tsunade sighed, then looked at Neji.
"I need you for something. Don't even think about skipping out."
Neji smirked. "Wouldn't dream of it. You know I live to serve, my dear teacher."
"Keep sweet-talking and I'll add triple the work."
He raised a hand in surrender. "Yes, ma'am."
