Naruto: Paradise for One [R-18]

Chapter 74: Back Within the Forest

The pair of Saul's walking through the forest of death indeed proved Kurenai's fears correct. But he was currently under the transformation Jutsu, disguised as the two 'missing' grass Ninja he had captured.

Saul had initially debated risking discovery by Orochimaru, but... The man, woman, thing, it had already made its move. These test subjects of his that he worked so hard to gather were the keys to ensuring his future. If he abandoned them just because he was afraid of a little more risk, he'd be as good as dead in the coming arcs.

This time however, he was much more cautious. The transformation ensured that any connection to him couldn't be immediately traced - even if a keen observer determined he was in disguise. He also continually used the body flicker jutsu within the night, turning almost invisible during certain stretches of the forest. Even if he originally had pursuers, they would not have been able to follow his trail unless it was someone of Orochimaru's caliber.

If Orochimaru had followed him, then... Well it was just blackmail material at the worst. Maybe then he'd eventually become another Kabuto. Regardless, it wouldn't totally ruin his life or his goals immediately.

One of the Saul's entered into an underground area he had disguised the entrance to with the nearby Fauna. An infusion of his chakra created a harmless illusion to hide the opening.

The other continued on for a while, heading off to where he left Karin.

Similar to his previous base somewhere in-between the Duke of Fire and Konoha, Saul had constructed the underground area using the roots of the nearby tree as a stabilizer for the structure. All the Genin he had hypnotized, except for Karin, were gathered together here.

They were too weak to resist his control. Their minds were unguarded, and once he knocked them unconscious, his techniques gave him free reign over their minds. Well... Temporarily at least. From Hisame he had discovered previously that his edits would not last long because he hadn't used enough chakra to fully erase the memory before creating new ones. Thus the phantom of what he had done was still present, ever lurking in her mind.

To properly establish full control over these test subjects, he'd need a lot of time and a lot of chakra. His reserves had improved manyfold ever since he had been training with medical ninjutsu, but the chakra required for even basic hypnosis was proportional to the strength of will he faced, multiplied by the amount of chakra the victim possessed.

This is why his targets had to be unconscious. It would take an absolutely absurd amount of chakra to overwrite a will that consciously resisted. Even unconscious resistance made things... difficult to say the least.

In the case of someone like Karin, the years of abuse had made even her conscious will weak, so weak. While unconscious she offered absolutely no resistance. Despite the gigantic quantity of her Chakra, anything multiplied by 0 was still 0.

Still even with someone like Karin he'd need time. The associations he created within their minds would fade away. They needed to be present, activated continuously, until they had linked with so many other thoughts that her mind itself would restore them if they were erased. Forcibly strengthening those associations with his chakra within their minds would, well, it wouldn't have the result he wanted. He had learned this from his final mistake with Hisame.

He passed by every single one as they stared at him blankly, tapping their heads with the mind body palm. The Hypnotic state in their minds needed to be refreshed after all.

"Every night..." he spoke, gazing at the small crowd of blank eyed ninja. "You will gather food and water within 10 meters of this tree. You will all do your best to remain undiscovered. In the early morning, distribute what was gathered among yourselves equally, eat and drink your portion. During the day, hide in this space and subsist off your chakra. You may go ahead and begin."

Commands that were not harmful to the body, the consciousness did not resist. He didn't have to force anything on the hypnotized ninja. Rather they listened to him, got up quietly and all began to walk outside of the tree.

"You, come here. You won't gather food or drink. Stay here." He had picked out a grass Ninja, one of the two previously accompanying Karin. They were by far the weakest out of all of the gathered Ninja, thus they were the least valuable. This man would be suitable for the next thing he had in mind.

While Hisame was his main receptacle for Genjutsu experiments, Kirisame had served as his aid for medical Ninjutsu. He was one of the biggest secrets behind his rapid progress in the field. A living human that Saul could dissect at will and forcibly keep alive with medical Ninjutsu. It was much more useful than using fish, or another animal as a reference for the learning material. It was also much less risky or painful than experimenting on himself.

"Lie down."

He pointed to an exposed root. The Genin lied down in front of him. When Saul tied up his arms and legs however, he started to show resistance.

"Hey! Get off! You can't- mggrh!"

Saul punched the man in the jaw, causing his eyes to roll back up into his head.

*Sigh*

Saul really needed a more subtle technique... Constantly forcing unconsciousness like this was bound to cause strong concussions over time. Yet, he didn't have the slightest clue how to heal such damage. He missed Hinata's presence already.

Stuffing a sock into the man's drooling, bloody mouth, Saul tied it to his face with rope. Then he activated the Mystical Palm Ninjutsu. The chakra within closed the wounds within the man's mouth, causing his unconscious expression to relax.

Saul saw himself as a kind man, only inflicting whatever suffering that was necessary. Look at how humanely and respectful he was to his prisoner! No one else would take the time and effort to heal such things.

...Plus, there was no need to get the man's bloody spittle all over when he violently screamed from what was coming next. His 'kindness' always came with personal benefits after all.

"Next to learn is bones... Yes? Forgive me, uh..."

He paused, trying to remember.

"..."

Saul forgot the poor grass Ninja's name. He had learnt it when he was looking through the man's surface level memories, but he just didn't care enough to end up remembering. No matter what, this guy was just a test subject.

"Never mind. Your service will be greatly appreciated."

*Crack*

"MMMMPPPHHHH!!!!" The man screamed in agony, waking up from unconsciousness. The gag muffled the sound. Unfortunately in his case, the muffled sound did not travel far. Their underground location and the gag guaranteed it.

"Now now, don't make such a fuss. Once I figure out how to heal you, you won't be in pain for any longer. Bear with it, ok?"

The dazed man struggled desperately as he tried to break free.

*Crack*

Saul broke another bone within his finger while investigating with his medical Ninjutsu.

"MMMM!!! MMMM!!! MMMMM!!!!!!"

The man was breathing rapidly through his nose as his vision swam with pain. He felt lightheaded. Where in the hell was he!? Everything was so dark, and he was in so much pain! He couldn't move!

His teammate leaned down over him smilingly, their face illuminated by the green glow emanating from their hand.

Saul spoke consolingly, "There there, everything is going to be alright. Don't struggle too hard, ok~? Otherwise I'll be forced to leave you with more than one broken bone at once."

The poor man's helpless eyes were filled with fear.

Author's Note - For the Hypnosis Technique that Saul has made - I wanted to show here both its potential utility as well as its flaws. While the hypnosis enables memory editing to a greater degree and the state allows him some control over the people hypnotized, it isn't without flaws. Ordering someone to do something they would hate to do otherwise, doing something threatening, etc etc.

Additionally the state will wear off over time if not continually maintained. Only the memory edits made while the technique was active will remain. Plus, he can pretty much only put someone into hypnosis from an unconscious state unless he overpowers them by multiple magnitudes in either chakra or strength of will.

I'll expound upon it more later on but those are the takeaways I tried to convey from this scene.
