Naruto: My Progress in Konoha.

Chapter 38: Chapter 38

"Panel."

With a thought, Uchiha Haruki opened his skill proficiency panel.

A familiar pale-blue interface appeared:

Chakra Control: Lv3 (102/1000 → 131/1000)

Three Basic Clone Techniques: Lv3 (0/0)

Basic Taijutsu: Lv3 (0/0)

Skipping over the base stats, Haruki's attention landed on the bloodline section.

As expected, his Sharingan proficiency had increased again.

Then he looked at Reflection of the Heart Technique — Lv4 (6/2000).

"So just five points of skill proficiency from this jutsu was enough to raise my Sharingan's progress by one point. That's double the effect of what it was at Lv3."

Haruki let out a long breath of relief.

Just as he predicted, as the Reflection of the Heart technique upgraded, its evolutionary support for the Sharingan grew significantly.

This meant that from now on, he could spend less chakra for greater advancement.

Previously, raising the Sharingan's proficiency by just ten points required 1700 chakra points.

But now?

Only 850 chakra points!

While it still wasn't as cost-effective as just passively gaining 300 points over time, it was still a huge improvement over Lv3.

Even if he couldn't openly use the Sharingan all the time, he no longer had to worry about its slow evolution.

The only downside was that—a week ago—after reaching a maximum of 5026 chakra, further practice in Chakra Refining Technique failed to increase that total.

From past experience, Haruki knew what this meant:

His current potential had been fully mined.

Unless his base stats increased, future chakra growth would only come very slowly over time.

This put a damper on his plans to use Reflection of the Heart endlessly to evolve his Sharingan.

Still, Haruki wasn't too disappointed.

Even without a cap, he couldn't afford to recklessly burn chakra.

Due to the level of Chakra Refining Technique and his innate talent, even with good nutrition, he could only generate about 3500 chakra per day.

In that case, how could he afford to waste it?

Not to mention—he needed to reserve chakra for emergencies. With that in mind, excessive spending was out of the question.

Snapping back to reality, Haruki shifted his gaze toward the other skills in the panel.

Thanks to the relaxed half-month period before arriving at the base camp, he had drained his chakra every day and used every spare moment to train.

As a result, he had spent over 46,000 chakra points to finally upgrade:

Great Fireball Jutsu,

Phoenix Fire Technique, and

Dragon Fire Technique

all to Lv2.

Now, whenever he performed these techniques, they not only activated faster but could also be adjusted in scope and power with greater flexibility.

With that, he successfully reached his first goal: a noticeable increase in combat power.

In the second half of the month, however, the missions became more dangerous, leaving him with less time and chakra to train.

As a result, his Shackling Stakes Genjutsu didn't reach Lv2—it had only barely passed the halfway point at Lv1.

Of course, if he had devoted all his chakra to it, he could have pushed it to the next level.

But because he prioritized evolving the Sharingan, most of his chakra went toward Reflection of the Heart.

On top of that, he used a large chunk of chakra to upgrade his Body Flicker Technique from Lv2 (15/500) to Lv2 (234/500).

So, naturally, Shackling Stakes didn't progress as expected.

But that didn't matter much.

Right now, he had no plans to reveal his Sharingan.

And since Shackling Stakes needed the Sharingan to truly shine, its level wasn't critical at the moment.

If he needed a sudden sneak attack, even Lv1 was enough.

Still, if he had extra chakra to spare, he wouldn't hesitate to invest in it.

After all, the higher the level, the better the effect—and the harder it was for enemies to resist.

In the long run, his Sharingan would undoubtedly become the core of his power, so the skills that complemented it couldn't be neglected.

No matter what, chakra invested here would never go to waste.

Haruki gave a small nod in satisfaction, then turned his focus to Ninja Tool Throwing and Chakra Control.

Initially, after these two skills reached Lv3, their growth had practically stalled.

But once he awakened the Sharingan, their proficiency began climbing again.

Especially Ninja Tool Throwing—with the Sharingan's support, the progress was phenomenal.

Even with just occasional practice in secluded corners, he managed to increase it from Lv3 (60/1000) to Lv3 (210/1000)—already over one-fifth of the way to the next level.

Now, in terms of throwing techniques, he had become a true expert.

The kunai and shuriken he hurled could now threaten even opponents of similar strength.

Of course, expecting this skill alone to kill a powerful enemy was wishful thinking.

Maybe—just maybe—if he reached Lv4 and used the Sharingan as support, he might stand a chance.

But even then, that chance would be slim.

Ninjas on his level had special techniques of their own. Killing them with just basic tools was a long shot.

Haruki gave a slight shake of his head and looked at his newest technique: Shadow Clone Jutsu.

Its current proficiency?

Lv0 (5/100)

Clearly, he'd only practiced it a few times before abandoning it.

Why?

Simple: The chakra cost was just too high.

Take one shadow clone, for example.

Even if the clone did absolutely nothing and was immediately dispelled, he would still lose 10% of its chakra allocation.

In practical terms, if Haruki had 5000 chakra, then used it to create one shadow clone, the chakra would be split—2500 to the clone, 2500 to himself.

But when he dismissed the clone, 250 chakra from the clone's pool would be lost permanently.

And that was just one clone.

If he summoned four clones, splitting the chakra to 1000 each, then upon release, he'd lose 400 chakra total—10% per clone.

In other words, the more clones he made, the more chakra he would burn without return.

Even if he stuck to just one clone per session, each training cycle would cost 250 chakra.

And Haruki couldn't afford that.

So, after a few attempts, he simply gave up for now.

He decided to wait until he had a larger chakra pool before revisiting the technique.

For now, he had plenty of time but not enough chakra, so there was no urgency to rely on Shadow Clones to farm skill proficiency.

Having finished reviewing his progress over the past month, Haruki closed the panel and began meditating to refine his chakra.

Two hours later

Once his chakra had recovered to around 2000 points, Haruki opened his eyes, stretched, and lay down to sleep.

Tomorrow was another mission.

He had to be in top shape.
