Naruto: My Chill Life in the Hyuga Main House

Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Strike First

Just as Elder was growing displeased, a figure walked in through the door. Sunlight framed him as he stepped inside, making his silhouette glow brilliantly.

Satori Hyūga approached against the light, his expression calm, yet his presence radiated overwhelming pressure.

As his strength steadily grew, along with a growing number of subordinates under his command and greater confidence gained through strategic thinking, he now radiated an imposing pressure that was palpable to everyone present.

Stepping into the family meeting hall, many clan members turned their gazes toward him. Their gazes ranged from curiosity and envy to shock, thoughtfulness, and doubt.

Only members of Elder's faction met him with icy, unwelcoming stares laced with barely concealed hostility.

Unfazed, Satori strode forward calmly and took his seat.

Seeing this, Elder inwardly relaxed slightly.

After all, he's still just a child—barely more than a boy—with no real cunning or guile. He probably doesn't even realize I returned with him in my sights.

Just as Elder felt certain victory, Satori suddenly stood up and directly confronted Elder.

"Respected Elder," Satori spoke out, "shouldn't you currently be overseeing operations in the Land of Fire? Why did you rush back so urgently? Could it be your mission ended in failure?"

As soon as those words left his mouth, they immediately drew everyone's attention. Clan members turned expectantly toward Elder.

Elder's face darkened slightly, his surrounding aura chilling as he coldly replied, "Are you trying to meddle in my affairs, brat?"

"Konoha is the foundation of our Hyūga Clan," Elder continued sharply. "Of course I must return often."

He immediately leveraged his seniority to overpower Satori, a common tactic used to dominate rivals within the clan.

Truthfully, Elder had no desire to provoke Satori, who was considered promising talent from the Main House.

By becoming Orochimaru's apprentice, Satori could help connect the Hyūga with Konoha's leadership.

That's why he stayed silent when his own grandson was beaten, even blaming his grandson for the incident.

But when it came to his personal interests, he would show his true colors without hesitation.

Clan interests were important—but his own always came first.

"Satori Hyūga," Elder continued sharply, "you insinuated I had failed. Did you already know operating massage parlors wouldn't succeed?"

"You proposed this idea, causing the clan tremendous losses pursuing something impossible. What punishment do you deserve?"

He glared furiously at Satori and rebuked him sharply, layering accusation upon accusation.

But Satori refused to play along. Instead, he swept his hand wide and produced a sheaf of documents.

"Elder," Satori countered firmly, "this is intelligence I've gathered. All massage parlors you established within the Land of Fire are suffering severe losses—all due to your mismanagement."

"You messed things up and then ran back here hastily, truly bringing shame upon the Hyūga Clan."

No one expected Satori to rise against superiors openly like this, refusing to grant Elder any dignity during a clan meeting.

A Branch House loyalist from Elder's faction abruptly rose, glaring furiously at Satori while rebuking him.

"How dare you speak to Elder with such insolence!"

Satori Hyūga glanced at the person who had stepped forward. With a subtle gesture, he signaled someone else to come out and reprimand him.

"Hyuga Kurai, how dare you speak to Lord Satori Hyūga like that! Don't you know he's a member of the Main House?"

From the back of the crowd, a young boy stepped forward and pleaded, "Father, Lord Satori Hyūga isn't wrong."

When Hyuga Kurai saw his own son stepping out to oppose him, his expression immediately changed.

The Elder was someone he had pledged loyalty to—how could his own son defect to the other side?

What he didn't know was that before he returned, Satori had already sent people to threaten and bribe many left-behind family members from the Elder's faction.

Besides, the Elder himself hadn't treated his subordinates well. Compared to being his dog, Satori was offering generous conditions.

Once these two sides were contrasted, the clan's younger generation quickly chose sides.

The Elder, however, was shrewd and cunning. Having lived so long, he instantly sensed something was off.

He cast a dark glance toward Satori, then shifted it toward Sounmei Hyūga and the Clan Leader.

In his view, Satori was still too young to pull this off by himself—he must have been guided by someone behind the scenes, orchestrating this against him.

And the only ones capable of such manipulation could be none other than Sounmei and the Clan Leader's faction.

After connecting the dots, he realized how precarious his position was—he was surrounded by enemies with no room to maneuver.

Everything had seemed well-planned before he came here. He intended to use the clan-issued authority to seize Satori's factory and seasoning.

But now, he felt more like a wolf walking into a tiger's den.

Still, as the Elder of the Hyūga Clan, he had no intention of surrendering easily.

He fixed a deep gaze on Satori and said, "Satori Hyūga, I take partial responsibility for the massage parlor's heavy losses, but your fault is far greater.

If you hadn't proposed this idea, I wouldn't have implemented this plan for the sake of the clan.

I admit my share of the mistake, and indeed, I funneled a tremendous amount of effort and money trying to salvage things. But you must also bear responsibility."

What he meant was clear: *I am at fault, but you are the root of it all.*

Even if he couldn't get off scot-free, he would drag Satori—and whoever stood behind him—down with him.

Plus, what he said covered all bases—he really did invest significant time and money.

Initially, he funneled resources into the massage parlor believing it would generate substantial profits.

Later on, it became a sunk cost trap, forcing him to keep investing until it nearly collapsed beyond salvation.

Satori observed the Elder with composure and asked, "Then according to the Elder, what should I do?"

The Elder replied solemnly, "I heard you recently started a food processing factory producing something called instant noodles. Hand that over to the clan for management—that'll make up for your mistakes."

Upon hearing this, everyone understood the Elder's intentions, yet none dared speak or refute him.

Although the Elder was in the wrong, his status and seniority kept most people silent.

This was how stagnant and controlled families operated—everything bound by tradition, entirely under the grip of the older generation.

The Clan Leader, Hyūga Ten'yō, who should have been the most qualified to speak up, remained eerily silent, as if vanished into thin air.

As the leader of the Hyūga Clan, he too had his sights set on the new business ventures and spice formulas controlled by Satori Hyūga.

However, unlike the Elder, he still retained a semblance of dignity and refrained from immediately resorting to any means necessary to seize them outright.

Now that the Elder was charging ahead as the vanguard, all he needed to do was sit back and wait patiently.

In his mind, the conflict between Satori and the Elder would ultimately serve his interests—regardless of who emerged defeated.

Should the Elder fall, it would severely undermine his standing within the clan.
