Naruto - Minato Namikaze SI

Chapter 195: Chapter 194 - Village of the Waterfall.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Konoha, Year 40.

...

...

"Are we ready?" Minato asked the group of ninjas in front of him as an entire squadron of jōnins prepared to accompany him to the north. Among them were Hanabi and Mikoto, both wearing their jōnin uniforms, handpicked for the mission as the commander's personal team.

"Yes, Commander! We are ready to move at any moment," the ninjas replied.

Minato nodded. "Alright, let's go, then," he said and moved northward, with the squadron of 40 jōnins following without further delay.

Minato had requested an audience with the Village of the Waterfall and already received a response. The Village of the Waterfall had refused to meet with him. This made Minato double down, as he could not allow an unknown territory to establish attack routes against them, especially while they were already dealing with the Land of Rain and prohibited from invading that country with their own ninjas.

After several hours of uneventful travel through the trees, the Land of the Waterfall began to appear on the horizon.

"Commander, won't this cause problems for us? Invading a country that is supposed to be neutral could lead to a major diplomatic issue," one ninja commented, his tone laced with concern as he approached Minato. After all, as soon as Minato had received the response from the Village of the Waterfall, he summoned the squad for the mission with minimal details.

Minato shook his head. "I agree with you. However, the Land of the Waterfall is clearly not being neutral at the moment, and we will treat them as such. We cannot wait for a response from Hokage-sama," he replied, moving ahead. No one else spoke as they approached the border.

A few hidden ninjas from the Waterfall, stationed to guard the border, were surprised by the movement coming from the south through the Land of Rain.

"What is this? Konoha ninjas?" they murmured, astonished, noticing that Minato and the others made no effort to hide their headbands as they crossed into the country.

"Are we being invaded? We haven't received any orders about this!" the ninjas whispered, unsure of what to do, especially since the group before them could easily defeat them.

"Neutralize and capture them," Minato ordered quickly as he sensed the sentinels.

Three ninjas from his group leapt forward, swiftly taking down the lookouts. Although the Land of the Waterfall wasn't particularly strong, there was some resistance in the form of elite jōnin-level ninjas. However, at that moment, this wasn't the case, and the chūnin-level sentinels were quickly subdued.

"Let's move on. We must reach the Hidden Waterfall Village," Minato said, continuing forward with the ninjas following him without hesitation.

At the Waterfall Village:

"My lord, a group from Konoha has invaded the country!" A breathless ninja ran up to an elite jōnin, the current leader of the village, after receiving a report and managing to escape the range of Konoha ninjas, who were already deep into the country by then.

"What? They're here?" the man murmured, stunned. He had refused any requests from Konoha, as he was aiding another benefactor. However, he had not expected such a swift and decisive response.

He had underestimated Konoha. While waiting for the Hokage to handle the situation diplomatically, the Stone Village had already begun providing support to them. But now, it seemed his miscalculation was costing him dearly, as Konoha simply launched an attack after so much time.

"How much time do we have?" he asked, his tone filled with worry.

"In less than ten minutes, they'll be here, leader!" the ANBU reported urgently.

"Damn it! Prepare to engage them! Put the entire village into defensive positions!" the leader exclaimed, rushing out as several other hidden ninjas did the same, preparing the village for the possible confrontation.

Meanwhile, another ninja appeared before him. "You, go to the Land of Stone and inform the Tsuchikage of our situation," he ordered. The ninja nodded, leaving immediately and heading west, exiting the village.

At that moment, Minato and the others appeared on the horizon, gazing at the small ninja village in the distance as they approached.

"That ninja is fleeing the village, possibly to inform our situation to the enemy," Minato murmured. Even from miles away, he had already noticed the ninja slipping away from the village. Observing the movement, Minato smiled slightly.

"Hanabi, take down that ninja," Minato ordered.

Hanabi, standing beside him, quickly drew her bow. "I'll handle this!" she affirmed, preparing herself even as they moved. Leaping into position, she aimed her bow in the direction of the fleeing ninja, the arrow beginning to glow and crackle with green chakra from her wind element.

With a resounding explosion, the arrow was loosed, cutting through the air with impressive speed. It tore through trees and anything in its path. The ninja, sensing sudden danger without understanding its source, felt an inexplicable dread as everything seemed calm around him at first.

He turned southward, only to realize too late the destructive force heading his way. As the trees around him exploded, pierced by a drilling energy, the ninja had no chance to comprehend how he died.

The arrow struck him directly, causing an explosion on impact. The sound echoed through the forest, shattering nearby trees, and the target was instantly eliminated.

"What was that?!" The leader of the Village of the Waterfall looked toward the forest, a cloud of smoke rising among the trees.

"They're coming, Leader!" Before he could think further, his ninjas warned him of Konoha's arrival at the village walls. The leader hurried to meet them.

Minato and his squad landed at the village walls, observing the scene. At least 2,000 ninjas were prepared to face them, yet Konoha's small squad of 40 remained resolute, showing no fear despite the overwhelming numerical disadvantage.

It was Minato's first time in the Village of the Waterfall. He took note of its striking features—the peaks and waterfalls cutting through the center of the village, giving it its name. This naming tradition was common among the great ninja nations, whose villages often bore names reflecting unique local characteristics.

In the heavy silence as the two sides faced each other, a ninja from the Waterfall stepped forward with a grim expression. "You are invading the Land of the Waterfall, a neutral country in this war. Do you, Konoha, intend to break this neutrality?!" the village leader exclaimed, his gaze fixed on the Konoha ninjas. The tension was palpable, and diplomacy was no longer an option. The fatal attack on the Waterfall ninjas confirmed that relations between the two nations had plunged into crisis.

"Are you the leader of the Village of the Waterfall?" Minato broke the silence from the other side, addressing the man directly. "My name is Minato Namikaze. I am the new commander of the northern border camp against the Land of Earth. I am here to find out why exactly the Land of the Waterfall is collaborating with the Land of Stone, allowing them to use your routes to attack us from the north. We will not tolerate this. I am prepared to treat the Land of the Waterfall as our enemy as well," Minato stated firmly, making his position clear.

The ninja was momentarily surprised to see such a young man claiming to be a commander but continued. "I am Kuzen, the village leader. Now, do you think you can face us? We are 2,000 strong against your 40!" the leader mocked, sidestepping Minato's accusations.

"My lord... he... he's the 'Yellow Flash' of Konoha!" a Waterfall ninja stepped forward, exclaiming as he recognized Minato by name and appearance, which matched the rumors.

"What?" The Waterfall leader murmured in disbelief, turning back to Minato with a different expression.

He was well aware of the ninja now renowned globally for his speed and devastating power. However, he had believed Minato to be stationed in the north, not at the western border. Now, he regarded the Konoha commander with newfound caution.

"It seems your reputation is quite useful, Minato," Mikoto murmured beside him, smiling slightly at the impact his presence had caused.

Minato, however, ignored the comment, focusing directly on the village leader and the fear visible in those around him. He was here to resolve the issue—and quickly. "You have broken neutrality by aligning with Konoha's enemy, and we will treat you accordingly," Minato declared.

"We don't know what you're talking about! We are neutral!" the Waterfall leader declared, trying to maintain his composure.

Minato sighed, his patience thinning. In the next instant, he disappeared in a flash of intense light, moving straight toward the nearest ninja—the leader himself.

Before the leader, despite being an elite jōnin, could react, Minato was already in front of him, gripping his neck with precise strength before he could do anything. The man was stunned, unable to move, as the ninjas around them rushed forward to defend their leader.

However, as they approached, Minato vanished once again in an instant, using the Hiraishin no Jutsu, reappearing back with his group while still holding the village leader. The Konoha ninjas around him looked on with admiration.

But once again, Minato ignored them, focusing solely on the man struggling in his grasp. "Try to move or make any attempt to attack me, and I'll break your neck. You know they call me the 'Yellow Flash' because of my speed. Do you think you can outmatch that?" Minato challenged, his tone calm but firm. The leader stared back in fear, wondering how someone so much younger could be such a terrifying force. He hadn't even been able to react before being captured.

"What do you want?" the ninja asked with difficulty, as the tension in the Village of the Waterfall remained high. The surrounding ninjas watched cautiously, preparing for any attack. Despite this, the Konoha ninjas showed no fear, waiting calmly for any enemy movement.

"It's simple. You will no longer allow any routes from the Land of Earth to pass through the Waterfall's territory," Minato stated with a serious tone. "I'll only say this once. If they use your routes again to attack us from here, know that I will finish what I left undone today. We invaded your village easily, and we can do it again."

Minato touched the ninja's shoulder, his expression unyielding, leaving a mark there. "This is a Hiraishin seal. I can teleport to your side at any moment," he explained, leaving the man stunned as the pressure on his neck began to cut off his oxygen.

"Don't even try to erase this seal. If you do, I will know. This will serve as a way to ensure you aren't plotting against Konoha. Unless, of course, you want to die at the hands of the Leaf while the Stone Village is losing the war," Minato mocked before releasing the man, throwing him back toward the city.

The Waterfall ninjas caught him quickly, while the others who had witnessed the scene looked on in fear at Minato. The village leader, now free, watched the Konoha shinobi turn his back, visibly shaken.

"I hope my message is crystal clear, leader of the Waterfall. If you try anything against Konoha again, I will come for you, and I won't even need to invade your village," Minato continued, turning partially to deliver a final warning. "I've also left Hiraishin seals throughout the country on my way here. I can appear here anytime, even if you somehow manage to erase this mark before I can react. And I believe that would be impossible."

With that, Minato turned away again and advanced, his group of ninjas following him as they made their way back south. The Waterfall ninjas watched in silence, swallowing hard in the face of the clear warning and the commanding display of power from Konoha's commander.
