Chapter 150: MSOC: Chapter 150
The Land of Hot Water and the Land of Earth were neighbors, almost a protectorate. Whenever significant events occurred in the Land of Hot Water, they'd seek assistance from the Land of Earth. If not for the ongoing war between the five great nations and the destruction of the Kannabi Bridge, the Jashin Cult's uprising might not have happened.
Whoosh!
Three figures in black robes swiftly moved through the forest, emerging moments later. They stopped at the edge of a rocky landscape.
"Boss, this is the Land of Earth's border. Where's the puppet crow?" Hidan scanned the area. As the Jashin Cult's saint, he knew the Land of Earth's terrain.
"Careful, they're attacking," Kai said, his brow furrowed. A rumbling sound echoed from the rocks. Earth spikes shot towards them at incredible speed, clearly a prepared ambush.
Kai's body flashed with lightning, disappearing instantly. Kakuzu and Hidan were impaled by the earth spikes.
Psh!
Blood spurted, a gruesome sight.
Kai landed on a nearby rock, sensing the growing chakra signatures. He'd detected the ambush from hundreds of meters away using his Mangekyo Sharingan. The ambushers were numerous, though they'd concealed their killing intent, causing birds and insects to flee. But to understand what was happening in the Land of Earth and its connection to Sasori, they'd decided to play along.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Numerous projectiles flew towards Kakuzu and Hidan. Two or three dozen figures emerged, identifiable as Iwagakure ninjas by their headbands and attire.
"Congratulations, Tsuchiryū-sama. You eliminated two intruders with one strike," a jōnin flattered the effeminate man.
"Hmph, a shame we missed that guy. Capturing him would be a huge accomplishment, securing my position as the next Tsuchikage," Tsuchiryū snorted, looking at Kai. "Kid, your lightning style is impressive. You must be a prodigy from Kumogakure."
"Reminds me of Onoki's clay-playing brat. The idea of him becoming Tsuchikage is ridiculous."
Kai ignored the misconception about his origins, but Tsuchiryū's mention of the "clay-playing brat" piqued his interest. Around the end of the Third Shinobi World War, Deidara would have been seven or eight years old, already showing his talent in the war-torn world. Being Onoki's student demonstrated his exceptional talent.
"Not saying anything? "Tsuchiryū sneered. "You're alone. Thinking of your last words? I'll give you time after I capture you!"
"Tsuchiryū-sama, you're too merciful. These Kumogakure ninjas, infiltrating the Land of Earth to target our jinchuriki, should be killed immediately."
Laughter erupted.
Kai sighed, "Now I know why you're inferior to even that clay-playing brat. He's strong and arrogant; you're weak and arrogant. Who said I'm alone?"
The Iwagakure ninjas froze, then saw the impaled Kakuzu and Hidan raise their heads.
"So painful, but I like it," Hidan grinned, his scythe whirling like a crescent moon.
His sudden attack caught them off guard. Within a few meters, the scythe loomed, like the grim reaper.
Psh!
Blood spurted as several Iwagakure ninjas were bisected.
"Too late!" Kakuzu said.
The ground rumbled. Black veins erupted, wrapping around their legs. Kakuzu formed hand seals, his robe tearing to reveal wind and fire masks.
"Wind Release: Pressure Damage!"
"Fire Release: Intelligent Hard Work!"
The combined jutsu engulfed the area in flames, consuming Kakuzu and Hidan as well.
Kai sighed; only immortal beings could fight like this. But seeing the rising flames, a playful smile touched his lips.
"Besides arrogance, you're a coward. That earth clone was good, fooling your men. But they're dead. How long will you hide?"
Tsuchiryū, who should have been in the flames, appeared behind Kai. He formed hand seals, unleashing powerful chakra.
"I don't know how you found me, but even a lightning expert from Kumogakure can't escape this S-rank sealing technique. Once I capture you, I'll be safe."
Tsuchiryū roared. she didn't understand how Kakuzu and Hidan survived being impaled. But she guessed the youth was their leader. Capturing him was her only chance.
"Sorry, who said I'm from Kumogakure?" Kai smiled, lifting his head. The approaching earth dragons were stopped by an invisible barrier. His crimson nine-tomoe Sharingan and ominous crimson chakra repelled the attack.
Seeing the forming Susano'o, Tsuchiryū's face paled. Her kunai clattered to the ground. He remembered the reports from the Kannabi Bridge: If you encounter the nine-tomoe Sharingan, don't run. If possible, kill yourself.
