Chapter 215: Stress and Relaxation!
In fact, there was one thing he didn't say.
Compared to Konoha, Kirigakure had far fewer resources.
Among the five great ninja villages, except for Sunagakure, the other three—Konoha, Kirigakure, and the remaining villages—possessed better resources than them.
What was war really about?
It was definitely not just pure aggression; it was about resources and interests.
If there were no interests behind it, no one would easily pay the price to attack a strong ninja village.
Saying this aloud might boost others' ambitions while diminishing one's own prestige, so the Great Elder didn't say it. But whether he said it or not, everyone present already understood it.
After the Great Elder finished speaking, those who had originally agreed to support Konoha grew hesitant.
Because what the Great Elder said made sense.
If the other villages truly intended to invade Kirigakure, they should have acted years ago—when the Hidden Mist Village was still reeling from internal turmoil and external threats. Instead, they waited until now. Since they didn't strike then, they likely wouldn't do so now.
Even the head of the Kaguya clan had no words to refute this argument.
Seeing that everything seemed settled, Mei Terumi, the Fifth Mizukage, frowned slightly.
Her original intention was to help Konoha.
Of course, she understood the Great Elder's reasoning.
But at this moment, Kirigakure's most important asset was not the Mizukage herself—it was Uchiha Haru.
As long as Uchiha Haru remained, Kirigakure would be secure for a hundred years.
But if Uchiha Haru became disillusioned with Kirigakure because of this incident…
What would happen next? Mei Terumi could only guess.
So, as the conclusion to not aid Konoha gradually took shape, Mei Terumi grew anxious but couldn't act arbitrarily due to her position.
She turned her gaze to Uchiha Haru, who had been silent throughout the entire discussion.
She hoped he would say something.
And she believed that if Uchiha Haru spoke, many present would be swayed.
Because Uchiha Haru's prestige in the Hidden Mist Village was immense.
But what she hoped for never came.
Uchiha Haru never uttered a single word—he only observed calmly, letting events unfold without interference.
This was exactly as he intended.
Extremely high prestige and military strength could decide many things.
But sometimes, overreliance on these powers wasn't what he wanted.
When Mei Terumi first became the Fifth Mizukage, and he became the head of Kirigakure's Security Department, he had ruthlessly moved against many high-ranking officials in the Hidden Mist Village.
Even now, when those officials saw him, fear still flickered across their faces.
But that was the past.
Those officials had done many things they should not have done—and he held them accountable.
Now, it was different.
All the top officials gathered here for the future of the Hidden Mist Village, not for personal gain.
They spoke from their hearts.
If he forced his will now, it would be inappropriate.
Besides, in his heart, he didn't care whether Kirigakure acted or not.
He had told Mei Terumi long ago: if Konoha were attacked, he alone would go to help—and that alone was enough.
With the Great Elder's words, more and more people agreed.
The atmosphere softened.
Everything seemed to have been settled long ago.
Mei Terumi looked around and opened her mouth to speak, but ultimately said very little.
As Mizukage, she couldn't directly override the decisions of the top leaders.
And just like that, the opportunity passed.
Kirigakure's final decision was not to fight alongside Konoha.
But as the Uchiha whom Wu Ying called the Minister of the Security Department, Uchiha Haru would go to Konoha personally to fight against the coalition of the three major ninja villages.
Then the head of the Kaguya clan, Kaguya, followed Uchiha Haru's lead and announced his willingness to fight for Konoha.
After that, several families and individuals who respected Haru greatly also expressed their willingness to take action.
Mei Terumi did not object and agreed to all of them.
The other top leaders imposed no restrictions or responsibilities.
Because Uchiha Haru stood at the center of these people.
They dared to control others, but they truly feared Haru, like mice afraid of a cat.
No matter what Haru wanted to do, it was no one else's place to interfere.
They knew resistance was useless.
Better to say nothing.
So, the day after the meeting, Konoha's envoy took Uchiha Haru, the head of the Kaguya clan, and a group of ninjas willing to assist to the battlefield.
Although traveling through mountains and rivers was troublesome going there, returning was much easier.
During the Chūnin Exams, Haru had placed Flying Thunder God Marks in many locations around Konoha.
It was only a moment's matter for him to travel to Konoha, even with so many people.
There would be no obstacles.
In an instant, Uchiha Haru arrived in Konoha with his group.
Upon arrival, they immediately sensed the heavy air of frustration and disappointment.
Konoha Village was desolate.
There was no sign of prosperity or vitality when Uchiha Haru and the others arrived this time.
The shinobi of Konoha were all disheartened, many nursing wounds from recent battles. The villagers themselves wore expressions of despair. Facing the combined might of the three great ninja nations, Konoha's current state was overwhelmed, stretched thin beyond endurance.
Seeing Konoha's ruined state, Kurenai Yuhi and Might Guy couldn't help but sigh deeply, worry tightening their hearts.
Yet, amid the bleakness, a small spark of hope lingered.
Though the Hidden Mist Village had declined sending official reinforcements, they had not come empty-handed. They had brought Uchiha Haru.
That alone was enough.
Haru surveyed the somber, subdued atmosphere of Konoha.
Such desolation was expected after defeat and crushed morale.
There was little to say about it.
Soon, however, the villagers noticed the newcomers and recognized Uchiha Haru.
The hero who had transformed into a towering black giant during the Chūnin Exams, bearing the weight of a massive meteorite that could have annihilated the entire Hidden Leaf.
"Uchiha Haru!"
A villager called out.
Others turned and their eyes lit up in recognition—this was the man who had saved them in their darkest hour.
For some reason, their formerly hollow gazes suddenly filled with life, as if the mere presence of Haru could pull them out of despair.
"Uchiha Haru! It's Uchiha Haru!"
The calls grew louder.
Konoha Village, once so downtrodden and ashamed, surged with renewed spirit. Even Kurenai and Guy, previously worried, showed faint smiles of relief.
Morale was reviving.
Haru looked at the energized villagers, then casually performed a ninjutsu:
Wood Release—Wood Dragon Technique!
From the ground rose a massive green wooden dragon, nearly a hundred meters long, its body gleaming with an eerie green light. Its sinewy muscles and strong frame gave it the feel of a steel behemoth, indestructible and awe-inspiring.
Now, the fearsome dragon lowered its head gently before Uchiha Haru, like a loyal pup.
Haru stepped onto the dragon's head with a confident foot.
The wooden dragon then coiled and soared high above Konoha.
The sheer size of this living weapon, combined with the villagers' earlier cheers, drew more and more eyes to Uchiha Haru.
For a moment, the entire village seemed to emerge from the fog of defeat.
Heads lifted as they gazed upon Haru astride the wooden dragon, their eyes shining with admiration and fanatic devotion.
Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha had joined forces to create the current Hidden Leaf.
Now, at this critical moment of life and death, a man possessing both Madara's Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan and Hashirama's Wood Release stood ready.
This man would lead Konoha out of the darkness, crush all enemies, and restore the glory of the world's first ninja village.
"Uchiha Haru! Uchiha Haru!"
The cries echoed throughout Konoha.
Kakashi and the others, deep in discussion over battle strategy, heard the commotion and hurried outside.
Looking up, they saw Haru hovering over the village.
Simultaneously, smiles appeared on their faces.
Kakashi shook his head and muttered to himself, "This Uchiha Haru... no matter where he goes, he causes a sensation."
More importantly, the burden that had weighed so heavily on him—the threat of the three-nation coalition—seemed to have eased.
At that moment, Haru, flying above the village on his wooden dragon, spotted Hatake Kakashi.
He directed his flight toward him, eager to hear firsthand the state of Konoha.
Questions crowded his mind.
Why had the three major ninja nations suddenly set aside their conflicts and even divided interests to unite against Konoha?
The situation was far too abnormal, and Haru's unease deepened the more he pondered it. He believed that uncovering the root cause of Konoha's plight might reveal a better path forward.
"Uchiha Haru!"
Kakashi greeted him warmly, placing a firm hand on his shoulder.
It was perhaps the first genuine smile Kakashi had shown in some time.
The pressure from the combined forces of the three great ninja nations had been suffocating—so heavy he could hardly breathe.
