Naruto: Kushina's Redemption, My Revenge

Chapter 131: Chapter 131: The Time Has Come

Nagato and Yahiko had fled into a cave.

Konan, her eyes rimmed with red, was helping Nagato bandage his legs.

Nagato's legs were horribly burned. Even worse, by forcibly controlling the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, he had drained himself to the point of being skin and bones.

He stared into the distance, his eyes filled with sorrow so deep it seemed to cut through him.

Tears kept falling from Konan's face.

Everything had happened too suddenly.

They had regarded him as their comrade, respected him — but Sanshouo Hanzo had betrayed them. He had killed their Akatsuki comrades and forced Nagato to personally kill Yahiko.

Now even Yahiko's body was gone.

At the same time, Konan felt completely lost about the future, unsure how they could move forward.

Nagato's hoarse voice broke the silence. "Don't cry, Konan. We must keep going. Let's carry on Yahiko's will. I will become God. Only a god can bring peace to this hopeless world."

"One who does not know pain cannot understand what peace truly is. Therefore, to break this cycle, the world must feel real agony — only then can this painful horror suppress war and lead the world toward stability and peace."

"I am already growing beyond human limits through infinite suffering. I have already earned the qualification to become a god."

"So, Konan, join me. Let's fulfill Yahiko's wish and lead this broken world toward peace."

Konan wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, her gaze filled with hatred and deep concern for Nagato.

"Nagato, I will always be by your side!"

Nagato gave a slight nod. After a moment of silence, he spoke again. "Konan, though the Akatsuki now consists of only us two, I won't abandon it, because it was founded by Yahiko."

"My legs are no longer capable of walking. From now on, I will create six corpse puppets using Rinnegan to act in my place. So first, I need you to find a suitable corpse for me."

"After I complete the six puppets, I will kill Sanshouo Hanzo, seize power over Amegakure, and take control of the village."

"Then we will recruit S-rank rogue ninjas from every ninja village to strengthen the Akatsuki and realize Yahiko's ideal."

Konan's expression turned firm. Yahiko was gone, and now she had only Nagato left. She had to protect him at all costs.

At the same time, she also hoped that Yahiko's dream would one day come true.

She agreed, saying, "Alright, I'll immediately begin searching for a suitable corpse to use as a puppet!"

...

Chinya and Dan returned to Konoha, where Sarutobi Hiruzen quickly dispatched Anbu to summon both Chinya and Dan to the Hokage Tower.

When they arrived at the Hokage Tower and met with Sarutobi Hiruzen, the Hokage asked with a stern face, "Dan, exactly where did you go with the Root Division ninja?"

Dan replied calmly, "I merely led them to eliminate an organization that could potentially threaten Konoha."

Hiruzen slammed his palm onto the table. "A group located far in Amegakure could threaten Konoha?!"

"Better to eliminate potential threats preemptively, even if they appear innocent. Anyone who poses a risk to Konoha will be removed—that's precisely why Root exists," Danzo responded evenly.

Hiruzen Sarutobi fixed Danzo with an intense glare.

Danzo, however, merely shrugged off Hiruzen's gaze as though it were nothing.

After a long silence, Hiruzen exhaled deeply and relented. "Danzo, the current situation is precarious. Amegakure lies at the strategic intersection of the Land of Stone, Fire Country, and Wind Country. Its geographical position holds extreme significance.

"If you rashly move toward Amegakure, it will signal to other ninja villages that we are preparing to act against Ame, attempting to seize control of this vital territory—and it could accelerate the outbreak of war.

"At present, Sunagakure is wrapped up in its own issues. Iwagakure, which has gained nothing from this prolonged war, won't last much longer either, and Kumo isn't even worth discussing.

"It's possible that given some time, all parties might reach a point where they're ready for peace talks—there's always a chance this war could end diplomatically."

Danzo snorted coldly. "Ending the war through diplomacy? Hiruzen, are you feeling well? This war absolutely cannot end like this—you know just how heavy our losses have been.

"If we halt the war now, those sacrifices will never be compensated. Currently, the situation favors Konoha significantly; bit by bit, we're gaining control.

"As long as the war continues, we'll be able to compensate for our losses. If there's going to be any negotiation, it must happen only after we secure sufficient benefits!"

Furrowing his brow deeply, Hiruzen said, "Danzo, if we keep dragging this war on, Konoha won't endure such continued losses. Our ninja ranks have been shrinking with every battle—we won't recover easily in the short term."

Calmly analyzing, Danzo answered, "If we stop the war now, recovery will still be difficult because our resources are nearly exhausted.

"But if we possess enough resources, we wouldn't have to struggle with resource limitations anymore. We could easily train new generations of ninja rather than constantly operating under scarcity.

"And Hiruzen, do you really believe the other villages will come to the table for talks?

"Stop fooling yourself—the war has progressed too far for mere negotiations to resolve now. They must think the same way I do: whoever shows weakness first will become prey. As soon as anyone reveals signs of decline, the other villages will descend on us like vultures to carrion.

"Therefore, whoever initiates peace talks essentially admits their weakness. So, Hiruzen, wanting to pursue peace negotiations would mean placing Konoha in danger!"

Puffing thoughtfully on his pipe as he considered Danzo's words, Hiruzen remained silent.

Though Danzo's reasoning made sense, the ongoing depletion from war weighed heavily on Hiruzen's heart.

At this point, Konoha had practically spent everything it had in this conflict.

Letting out another sigh, Hiruzen finally said, "Putting that aside for now, Chinya, why are you following Danzo's operations? Weren't you in the Land of Hot Water?"

Chinya responded, "I received an order directly from Lord Danzo and immediately returned to Konoha from the Land of Hot Water."

"Hiruzen Sarutobi, I've already spoken to Chinya," Danzo said to Hiruzen Sarutobi. "He agrees with my plan concerning the Uchiha ninja issue. He has also joined Root Division and become my subordinate.

The time has come. Next dawn, we should show the Uchiha Clan who really holds power."

A spark of understanding lit in Hiruzen Sarutobi's eyes as he nodded. "Indeed, the time has come."

Hiruzen Sarutobi then asked, "Danzo, how exactly do you plan to act against the Uchiha Clan?"

Danzo sinisterly replied, "Kiri is currently acting like a rabid dog, biting everywhere indiscriminately? We'll send Chinya to the Land of Waves and move a bunch of Uchiha ninja there at the same time. Let Chinya lead them into battle! After all, Chinya has led Uchiha ninja before — he knows how they operate."
