Naruto: Konoha's Traitor

Chapter 138: CHAPTER 138

There Will Be No Peace

After listening to Chi Yu's analysis, Yahiko was stunned.

"Could it be... could it be that our efforts for peace in the ninja world were wrong? Is peace truly impossible in this world?"

Chi Yu looked at the dejected Yahiko and replied calmly, "There's nothing wrong with your desire for peace. But the timing is wrong. If it were already an era of peace, your ideals wouldn't be a problem.

However, this is a time of war. Your rhetoric threatens the interests of those in power—so yes, by their standards, you're wrong."

Yahiko frowned. "But isn't that contradictory? If the world were already at peace, then there would be no need for people like us."

Chi Yu sighed. "Yahiko, in this complex ninja world, people as naïve as you are rare. Why do wars start? It's always the same—conflicts over power, inequality, greed, and the cycle of hatred.

Once war begins, it means the contradictions have escalated beyond reconciliation. And at that point, conflict becomes inevitable.

Do you really believe that all sides can just sit down and talk it out?

If that were possible, what of the dead? Who atones for their sacrifice? Who bears that weight?

Wars only end when one side loses and the other wins. That is the reality."

Yahiko clenched his fists tightly.

He didn't want to believe it.

But his experience was telling him—Chi Yu was right.

His call for peace talks had dragged the Akatsuki into a downward spiral.

Yahiko looked at Chi Yu with desperate eyes. "Is there truly no path to lasting peace?"

Chi Yu shook his head. "There is. And ironically, what your companions are attempting now might bring the longest peace this world has ever known."

Yahiko's eyes lit up. "Companions?"

Then he realized. "You mean Nagato and Konan, right? That's great... I knew Nagato would lead us there—he's the savior!"

A relieved smile broke across Yahiko's face.

Chi Yu's lips curled into a subtle smirk. "Don't you want to know how Nagato plans to achieve peace?"

Yahiko asked curiously, "What's his method?"

Chi Yu's smile turned cold. "Nagato has come to believe that this cursed world will never know true peace—and that people will never truly understand one another.

So, he plans to collect the Tailed Beasts, develop forbidden techniques, and create weapons of such destruction that a single one could obliterate an entire nation. He will force the world into peace by making them fear pain. He believes only through suffering can people come to understand each other."

> (Note: This reflects canon as explained in Naruto Shippuden—Nagato adopted this ideology after being influenced by Obito, who manipulated him using Yahiko's death as a catalyst.)

But at this point in the timeline, Nagato had not yet decided on that path. That decision only came after Yahiko's death... and after Uchiha Obito's intervention.

But what if Yahiko was told all this in advance?

Chi Yu had no intention of letting Yahiko meet Nagato.

Yahiko was stunned. "How could this be...? Why would Nagato go to such extremes?"

Chi Yu raised an eyebrow. "Why are you so surprised? Honestly, Nagato's method is the most feasible path to peace. As long as those weapons exist, the fear they instill will keep nations in check. No one will dare make the first move."

Yahiko gripped his head in anguish. "No... that kind of peace—that's not peace at all!"

Chi Yu asked coldly, "Then what is peace to you?"

Yahiko replied, "A world where people truly understand one another."

Chi Yu scoffed. "Jiraiya sold you a dream. That kind of peace doesn't exist. You talk about mutual understanding—so why did you punch me when we first met?

You preach peace, yet you couldn't understand me. If you can't do it yourself, what makes you think the world can?"

"I... I..."

Yahiko opened his mouth to respond, but no words came out.

Chi Yu stepped forward, locking eyes with him.

"Yahiko, your dream is a fantasy. And to be honest, if Nagato weren't being used, I wouldn't have saved you. Because Nagato's version of peace—is the only one that might actually work. Your existence will only interfere."

Yahiko's expression changed. "Used...? You said Nagato is being used. By who?!"

Chi Yu replied sharply, "How do you think Nagato got the Rinnegan?"

Yahiko responded without hesitation, "He was born with it, of course."

Chi Yu sneered. "Born with it? Then Nagato must be an Uchiha, right?"

Yahiko blinked, confused. "What? No—Nagato's from the Uzumaki Clan. Why would he be Uchiha?"

Chi Yu activated his Mangekyō Sharingan. "Because the Rinnegan is the final evolution of the Uchiha's Sharingan. An Uzumaki can't awaken it naturally."

Yahiko's jaw dropped. "The final form... of the Sharingan? Then... Nagato isn't the original owner?"

Chi Yu's lips curled with disdain. The White Snake was right—this boy really is slow.

"No. Uchiha have black hair, always. Nagato is an Uzumaki, a distant relative of the Senju. He was given the Rinnegan. He didn't awaken it on his own.

From the moment he received it, he became part of a larger plan. If things continue this way, Nagato's fate is sealed—he'll die, just another pawn."

Yahiko's eyes widened with horror. "Who... who gave him the Rinnegan? What is this plan?"

Chi Yu shook his head. "Not yet. If you go to Nagato now, both of you will die. You'll interfere with the mastermind's plan, and Nagato will lose his value.

Remember—if someone could give Nagato the Rinnegan, they can give it to someone else if he becomes inconvenient."

Yahiko collapsed to the ground, devastated. "No... this can't be happening..."

Suddenly, he stood and grabbed Chi Yu by the shoulders. "There must be a way! You saved me—you must want something in return, right? If I can protect Nagato, I'll do anything! Just tell me what to do!"

Chi Yu looked into Yahiko's eyes and smiled. "Now you're thinking. Yes, I have a task for you. But there's a condition: until it's done, you cannot meet Nagato or Konan.

It might take five years. Ten. Maybe longer. You may never see them again. Can you accept that?"

Yahiko's grip trembled. He was silent for a long time. Then he raised his head and looked directly at Chi Yu.

"Promise me this: that Nagato and Konan will be safe."

Chi Yu nodded solemnly. "As long as you do what I ask, I promise—they will be."

Yahiko took a deep breath, eyes resolute.

"Then I swear—I will do it."
