Naruto: Konoha's Psychic

Chapter 170: Ch-170 What are you doing?

Sasuke brushing some dust off his shoulder. "Alright then," he said coolly. "I'll be taking my leave."

Inoiki didn't budge. He shook his head, arms crossed, his tone light but firm. "Nope. Not happening. You can't just leave like this. If you slip away under my watch, I'll have to deal with the higher-ups in Konoha—especially the elders on the council. And let me tell you, I've had enough of their constant nagging to last a lifetime. So, no, you're staying right here. Just sit tight and hope that Orochimaru or Kabuto decides to use reverse summoning to pull you out."

Sasuke exhaled sharply through his nose, frustration rising in his chest. He didn't want to be here any longer than necessary. Every second in this place felt like a risk, an invitation for trouble. But he also knew Inoiki wasn't someone he could simply brush aside or sneak past. Without his permission—or reverse summoning—there was no escape. Gritting his teeth, Sasuke gave up on the idea of leaving, at least for now, and stayed put.

Then, cutting through the tension, a voice shouted from across the distance.

"Sasuke!"

He turned his head sharply toward the sound. Charging into the scene was Naruto, followed closely by the rest of Team Kakashi, their expressions a mix of relief and urgency.

Sasuke looked worn—his cloth torn, his body bruised, the dust from Inoiki's earlier attack still clinging to his skin. He stared at Naruto with a tired, but calm look.

"You really don't know how to give up, do you?" he said.

The conversation between them quickly escalated. What began as tense words soon spiraled into a full-blown argument—one centred around the same unresolved issue: Sasuke's return to Konoha.

As the exchange grew more heated, Naruto's frustration boiled over. His anger triggered the Nine-Tails' chakra, which began to surge through him uncontrollably. Red energy flared, distorting the air around him. But before it could fully take hold, Sasuke's Sharingan activated, locking eyes with Naruto.

In an instant, Sasuke slipped into Naruto's mental space, confronting the chaotic force directly. With sharp precision and unshakable will, he overpowered the leaking chakra, suppressing the Nine-Tails' influence with ease.

The Nine-Tails roared in fury, its eyes blazing—but it was pointless. Sasuke's control within the mental space was absolute. The beast's power was sealed back, forcefully pushed into submission.

The sudden loss of control left Naruto drained. His legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground, his breathing ragged.

Returning to the physical world, Sasuke looked down at him coldly. His voice was calm, but cutting.

"You haven't grown much stronger, Naruto. If anything, you were more formidable three years ago. All this weakness—it's because you let your emotions rule you."

Just as everyone's attention was locked on Sasuke and Naruto's exchange, a sudden movement broke the focus.

From behind Sasuke, Sai appeared in complete silence, his sword poised for a lethal strike. He had timed it perfectly, aiming straight for Sasuke's back in a calculated sneak attack. It was quick, precise—and almost invisible to the untrained eye.

But it didn't go unnoticed.

Inoiki, Kakashi, and Yamato all caught the motion. Though they didn't move to intervene, each of them sensed that Sasuke was already aware—and preparing to respond.

Their instincts were right.

Without even turning his head, Sasuke unsheathed his sword in one smooth motion. In the same instant, his body flared with electric chakra—Chidori Stream. Lightning burst from his form, arcing across the area in crackling waves.

The surge stopped Sai in his tracks. Just centimeters from landing the blow, his muscles seized under the sudden shock, paralyzed by the electrical discharge.

That was all the opening Sasuke needed.

He spun around in one fluid motion, his blade slicing through the air, aimed directly at Sai's neck—swift and ruthless, going straight for the kill.

But Sai wasn't just any ninja—he was a seasoned Root ninja, trained in assassination and espionage, with the skill level of a Jonin. The moment his surprise attack failed, he instinctively pulled back, retreating with speed and precision.

He knew then—his mission, the one assigned directly by Danzo to eliminate Sasuke, had failed. Continuing would be suicide. Escape was the only option.

Just as he began forming the signs to activate the Body Flicker Technique, everything changed.

A crushing wave of mental pressure hit him like a sledgehammer.

Inoiki, without moving a step, had unleashed a powerful burst of psychokinesis. The invisible force pinned Sai to the ground mid-technique, forcing him to his knees as if gravity itself had intensified.

"You're not going anywhere," Inoiki said, his voice unnervingly calm, devoid of emotion. "Stay where you are."

The others might not have sensed the full scale of the mental force he had exerted, but the effect was undeniable. The earth around Sai had sunk beneath him, cracked and compressed by the weight of Inoiki's psychic grip—a silent but terrifying display of raw power.

At that moment, Sasuke felt it—a pull from one of his snake summons. The reverse summoning had been triggered.

He cast a glance at everyone around him, his expression unreadable. "Looks like this isn't the end," he said quietly. "We'll meet again—if it comes to that."

Naruto, now back on his feet despite the lingering pain, took a step forward. "No, Sasuke. You're not leaving today," he said firmly. "This ends now. You're coming back to Konoha with me."

He drew his kunai, determination etched across his face.

"You're not getting away—not with all of us here."

Beside him, Kakashi silently lifted his forehead protector, revealing his Sharingan. His gaze locked on Sasuke, watching for even the slightest movement. From what he had seen so far, he knew—Sasuke had grown stronger. Stronger than him, maybe far stronger.

The others stood ready.

Sasuke said nothing.

Then, in a flash of white smoke, his figure vanished—pulled away by the reverse summoning.

Gone.

The sudden disappearance left everyone stunned. No one had seen it coming.

Naruto, furious that Sasuke had slipped away again, began darting around the area, searching desperately for any sign of him. But it was useless—Sasuke was gone, as if he had vanished into thin air.

Realization finally caught up to him.

Wait... why am I panicking? Inoiki's here.

He turned sharply toward Inoiki. "What are you doing just standing there? Why aren't you tracking him? Tell me which direction he went—I'll go after him myself! He's not getting away today!"
