Chapter 188: Chapter 188: How Many Floors Does a Bag of Rice Have to Carry?
The two whirlwinds pierced through the claws of the massive Three-Headed Dog, and then Kiba and Akamaru jumped in to rescue their comrades.
"Akamaru!" Kiba shouted.
"Woof!" Akamaru barked in response.
"Go!" Kiba yelled again.
"..." Akamaru tilted his head, confused. "Woof?"
"What do you mean 'woof'?!" Kiba pointed frantically at the enormous three-headed beast before them. "You think I can take that thing on with just my Fang Over Fang?!"
"Tch!" Akamaru growled, "Then let me handle it!"
"Nonsense! This thing looks like your cousin! If not you, then who?!" Kiba shouted, pointing at the monster as yet another head sprouted.
"..." Kiba blinked. "Wait, never mind! That thing is clearly your dad!"
"GET OUTTA HERE!" Akamaru roared, transforming into a massive Three-Headed Hell Hound. "ROAR!"
Akamaru opened his mouths and unleashed a devastating combined Wind and Fire Style jutsu, engulfing the monstrous dog in an explosive blaze.
Meanwhile, Animal Path Pain frowned and struck the ground rapidly. Massive creatures appeared in succession: a colossal rhino, an enormous bird, a chameleon, a crab, and a giant ox, all summoned to rampage and annihilate Konoha Village.
"How is this possible?!" many of the Konoha shinobi gasped in terror, voices trembling with disbelief. Helplessness spread as despair settled in.
"Summoning Technique!" Boom! A gigantic toad descended from the sky.
"That's...!" The people of Konoha looked up in awe. "Jiraiya-sama's summoning beast!"
Cheers erupted.
Gamabunta frowned, watching the destruction unfold. He slowly drew his massive sword.
"Jiraiya's summoning scroll?" Gamabunta narrowed his eyes at the scroll Anbu had laid at his feet.
Elsewhere, the Inuzuka Clan confronted the Preta Path Pain, the one who devours chakra-based techniques.
"Fang Over Fang!" Inuzuka Hana and her partner attacked.
Preta Path nimbly dodged.
"As expected, this guy can't deal with taijutsu-based techniques!" Hana smirked.
"Tch~ What a great matchup for the Inuzuka Clan," Inuzuka Claw grinned. "Let's finish him off in one go!"
Nearby, a horde of insects swarmed over the paper-clad minions of Konan, gnawing at their chakra sources.
The Aburame Clan stood firm, watching Konan's paper form hover before them.
"Clan Head," a member said, "everyone is still alive."
Aburame Shibi frowned. "Have you gone easy on her, Shino? Restrain her completely!"
"Understood," Shino replied.
Meanwhile, Asura Path Pain was launching missiles when a rocket streaked toward him—BOOM! Smoke exploded. As the smoke cleared, Asura Path looked up—an armored figure hovered above, emblazoned with a red scorpion emblem.
"Come on, show me how strong your so-called leader really is!" Sasori shouted from within the cockpit of the Iron Puppet Armor.
Suddenly, Animal Path Pain withdrew from Konoha and retreated swiftly.
He clapped his hands together. "Summoning Technique!"
At once, all Six Paths of Pain and Konan were summoned outside the village. The moment they arrived—they collapsed to the ground.
"What is this?!" Konan gasped, eyes wide. "Stop, Nagato!"
All Six Paths of Pain were motionless... lifeless.
Elsewhere, Team Guy had just returned from a mission and were taking a break at a dessert shop.
"Ahh, so tired!" Tenten stretched.
"Sensei," Lee said, watching the sky, "there are birds flying unusually fast from the direction of the village."
"Yes," Might Guy nodded gravely. "They're fleeing from something."
"I have a bad feeling," Neji added, his Byakugan faintly activated. "We should return immediately."
"Ehh~ seriously?" Tenten groaned.
At the Hokage Tower.
Tsunade stood on the rooftop, fully engaged in the Summoning: Katsuyu Technique, healing countless wounded with Anbu protecting her.
Tendō Pain descended slowly from the sky.
"Long time no see, Lady Tsunade," he said coldly. "Now, you're the last of the Legendary Sannin."
"Who are you?!" Tsunade narrowed her eyes, staring at the corpse-like figure of Yahiko, pierced with chakra rods and dressed in black.
"Our master spoke of you often," Pain said grimly. "The Hokage of Konoha—the one who killed him."
"Master?" Tsunade's eyes widened, examining his face more closely. "You're... from back then?!"
"So, you remember," Tendō said quietly. "Where is Uzumaki Naruto? Why hasn't the Nine-Tails returned yet?"
"Wait!" Tsunade interrupted. "Your master is alive—Naruto Uzumaki!"
"Hmph." Tendō scoffed. "Do you take me for a fool?"
A massive surge of chakra swept through the area.
"What monstrous chakra!" several Anbu exclaimed in fear.
"Your so-called peace is just violence in another form! Hand over the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki. Even if he is the master's son, he cannot be allowed to disrupt our plan to bring true peace!" Pain's voice became shrill with fanaticism. "This is your final warning!"
"Heh. You think you can force this village to surrender Naruto?" Tsunade sneered. "You're delusional. What you seek will never fall into your hands."
"You think your shinobi can protect Naruto forever," Pain began.
"Shut up!" Tsunade cut him off, grinning. "You'll regret this the moment Naruto returns. He's stronger than you know!"
"Silence!" Pain's eyes widened with fury. "Our pain is something a great nation like yours could never comprehend. Very well... I will make you understand what pain truly is."
With that, Pain slowly rose into the sky.
"A bag of rice... how many floors must it be carried up..." Pain muttered, his voice echoing eerily. "A bag of rice... resists the second floor... a bag of rice... endures so much... I wash a bag of rice... scrub the mud from it... and yet the roof tiles collapse... because none of you understand true peace!"
Higher and higher he rose, until he was just a dot against the heavens. The chakra from all six bodies gathered above the Deva Path...
"I will never forget Yahiko's pain..." Pain whispered. "Now, let the world... feel pain! Shinra Tensei!"
BOOOOOOM!!!
With Deva Path Pain as the epicenter, the village exploded outward in a massive gravitational shockwave, as though the sky itself had exhaled violently.
Buildings were ripped from their foundations and hurled like leaves in a storm. The outer walls of Konoha cracked and buckled under the force.
At the outskirts, Katsuyu regurgitated the surviving villagers one by one, all of whom stared at the scene in horror.
"What is this...?!" someone cried.
Konoha, once a thriving village, was now a gigantic crater.
"Damn it!!" came a furious shout from above...
