"Wahahahaha!!" A Rain Shinobi was being mercilessly tickled by Jiraiya.

"If you don't want to die laughing, just answer my question honestly!" Jiraiya demanded loudly. "Come on! Tell me!"

"Hold it!" Another Rain Shinobi shouted at his tickled companion.

"Oh hoo?" Jiraiya looked at the second Rain Shinobi, a smirk on his face. "Unexpected. It seems I'll have to use my secret weapon!"

"Nani?!" The two Rain Shinobi looked horrified. "What are you going to do?!"

"Hmph!" Jiraiya chuckled. "If you don't confess..."

"I'll turn you into toads!!"

Rain Shinobi 1 and 2:

Jiraiya:

"Wahahahaha!! Don't scratch! Hahaha!" Jiraiya turned back and continued to tickle Rain Shinobi 1.

"Haha! Bastard! You're too light-handed! Hahaha! Stop touching me and making me squirm!"

"That's right." Jiraiya pointed a feather at Rain Shinobi 2. "It's your turn. Are you mentally prepared?"

Rain Shinobi 2 caved, panicking, "Lord Pain is in the tallest tower to the west. That's what I've heard..."

Rain Shinobi 1: "Hey! You bastard! You promised me you'd hold out, damn it!"

"Oh~" Jiraiya patted Rain Shinobi 1 on the head like a dog. "How easy it is to betray."

"It's not Pain's technique that scares us," Rain Shinobi 1 finally said, voice trembling. "It's his heart... as sharp and ruthless as a blade. Any threat to him, no matter how small, is eliminated. It wasn't just Hanzō he took down. His parents, wife, children... even infants in cribs. Anyone who ever had contact with Hanzō was wiped out. That... that's his justice!"

Jiraiya looked shocked.

He manipulated Rain Shinobi 2 to exit the toad's stomach. "Damn... I hope I won't be discovered next time."

But he didn't notice a few paper butterflies silently following him.

The paper butterflies slowly returned to Pain.

"Did you find him?" Pain asked.

"It's Jiraiya," Konan replied.

"Sou ka... Jiraiya," Pain said flatly. "Our teacher's former comrade."

"What should we do?" Konan asked.

"He won't join us," Pain replied. "Then... kill him. Lead the way."

Konan released a piece of paper and folded it into an airplane to guide Pain.

"I'll go ahead." Konan's body turned into thousands of paper sheets and scattered into the air.

Rain Shinobi 2 walked through the streets of Amegakure, but fine sheets of paper wrapped around him without him noticing.

Konan's form slowly materialized from the paper. She pointed a Desert Eagle at the paper-wrapped dummy.

"Fire Style: Flame Bullet!" Suddenly, the shadow behind the Rain Shinobi 2 leapt up and spewed fire toward Konan, causing a violent explosion.

"I see now," Konan said through the smoke. "A decoy."

"The bait was meant to lure out Pain," Jiraiya emerged from the shadow, facing Konan. "I didn't expect you to take the bait. So you're the leader of the Akatsuki... and that means Pain is one of Naruto's other two disciples. Konan!"

"It has nothing to do with you," Konan replied coldly as two paper wings unfolded from her back. "Jiraiya, I just want to ask you one thing..."

Jiraiya paused. "Nagato... he really died. I saw it with my own eyes."

"I see." Konan floated midair, clear tears streaming down her face. "Then I have nothing left to say."

"Oh ho! Can paper even cry?" Jiraiya asked sarcastically.

"Since it is God's will," Konan whispered, "I will kill you."

She pulled two AK-47s from her back, holding one in each hand. "Ninjutsu: Explosive Rounds!"

She pressed the triggers. Countless bullets rained toward Jiraiya, while the wings behind her turned into explosive tags that auto-fed into the magazines.

"Shit!" Jiraiya leapt away. "Toad Oil Bomb!"

He spat a mouthful of viscous oil at her, but Konan blocked it with a thick paper wall.

"Why now? Why show yourself before us again?" Konan said coldly. "Are you trying to complete the mission Orochimaru once started?"

"I came here because I wanted answers," Jiraiya responded, voice heavy. "It was too late... you had already begun to act on your own interpretation of Naruto-sensei's ideals."

"Don't twist this!" Konan snapped. "Naruto-sensei wanted peace! You Konoha bastards killed him! Then you tried to start another war, nullifying everything he sacrificed for! Your Third Hokage tried to erase his existence altogether! You hypocrites!"

"I admit what Hiruzen did..." Jiraiya muttered, guilt flooding him. He didn't know how to respond.

"But is this your answer?" Jiraiya said helplessly. "Start another war to destroy the peace he died for?!"

"This is the answer we reached ourselves! It's also the path Master taught us!" a voice thundered.

Pain's Animal Path had arrived, standing tall above.

"Jiraiya-niisan..."

"You are...?" Jiraiya looked up in shock. "Rinnegan?! That's impossible... those are the eyes of the Sage of Six Paths!"

"No... You're not the three kids Naruto saved." Jiraiya frowned. "Who are you? Since you call me 'niisan,' then you must know those two."

"It has nothing to do with you, outsider." Animal Path slammed his hands together. "Summoning Jutsu!"

A massive crab burst forth, spraying foam from its mouth.

"Water Style: Foam Wave!"

"Foam?" Jiraiya leapt to the wall, evading the attack. "He's trying to wash away the toad oil!"

Boom! The crab burst through the foam, claws swinging at Jiraiya.

"Lion's Mane Jutsu!" Jiraiya shouted. His hair extended wildly, entangling the crab and crushing it.

The crab vanished back to the Summoning Realm.

Jiraiya's hair then surged forward like a snake, lunging at Animal Path.

Boom! The white hair wrapped around Pain.

"Bastard! Let me ask you again! Where are Nagato and Yahiko?!"

"They've been dead a long time," Pain replied indifferently. "That kind of weakness was discarded."

"You bastard..." Jiraiya looked up at Konan. "What happened to you? Konan!"

"Nothing," Pain cut in. "Just war. Many people died here. Yahiko. Nagato. Everyone."

"How can that be?!" Jiraiya growled.

"You could never understand, Jiraiya-niisan," Pain said darkly. "I experienced infinite suffering. I transcended humanity... I became a god. I will gather the weapons of the gods. You are merely a mortal."

Jiraiya remained silent.

"What is your ultimate goal?" Jiraiya finally asked.

Pain stared down at him. "World... nuclear peace."

Jiraiya blinked. "...What the hell?"
