Chapter 126: Root

---Rewards---

It had been two months since the First Great Ninja War ended, and the other villages were starting to get back on track.

Setsuna's business was booming, especially after he invented a phone that allowed calls between Konoha and Uzushiogakure. Slowly, people began using computers to write documents, saving them a lot of time compared to using a brush.

He was currently checking the rewards he received after Uzumaki Akari became pregnant. Yes, his wife was seven months pregnant, and the reason he was only checking the rewards now was that one of them was a gateway to other anime and movie worlds.

There was a reason why he hesitated to activate it. He feared being sent to worlds with overpowered beings, such as the universe of Saitama. How could he possibly defeat him? The monsters there were incredibly strong.

Genjutsu? Forget about it—they don't have chakra pathways, so disrupting them with Genjutsu wouldn't work. Their vitality? They're too powerful, and he might get pummeled with just one punch.

What about the world of One Piece? Well, with Imu and the hypocritical Marines, that was out of the question. If he could control Haki, he might reconsider going there.

So, he decided to wait for another two months. The system had informed him that Akari was pregnant with triplet boys, which meant three rewards, provided everything went smoothly without any complications.

Suddenly, he sensed the chakra of his father-in-law. He went outside to meet him.

"Good morning, Father," greeted Setsuna.

"Good morning, Setsuna," smiled the Uzukage.

Without waiting for an invitation, the Uzukage entered his daughter's home. Setsuna, seeing this, could only shake his head and smile.

"Grandpa!" greeted the children.

"Father," Akari also greeted him.

"Oh, my sweetheart," the Uzukage became a loving grandfather and hugged his grandchildren.

After playing for 15 minutes, he approached Setsuna, clearly wanting to discuss something.

"Father, do you have something to talk to me about?" asked Setsuna.

"Yes," the Uzukage sighed.

"What is it this time? Is it about a war?" asked Setsuna.

"No, not a war," replied the Uzukage. "Konoha's envoy came and asked us to create a seal for keeping secrets."

"A secret seal? Can't Uzumaki Mito create that seal?" asked Setsuna.

"As her father, she most likely can, which is why I wanted to discuss it with you," replied the Uzukage.

"Do you mean she's avoiding Konoha's request and wants your opinion on it?" said Setsuna.

"Correct. Setsuna, should we give it to them?" asked the Uzukage.

"Let me think it through, Father," said Setsuna. "First of all, they've created another organization called Root, and Danzo has full control of it."

"Yes," the Uzukage confirmed.

"Well, they already have Anbu, so there's no need for Root unless they plan to do something shady," said Setsuna.

"What do you mean by shady?" asked the Uzukage.

Setsuna, knowing the Naruto storyline, understood well why Danzo used the Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal. Danzo had engaged in many dark deeds in Konoha, like killing targets Anbu couldn't handle, and much more.

Who are the people Anbu can't kill? Anbu is an open secret organization that serves under the Hokage.

"This is just my assumption, but before I answer, did they ask for any specific conditions, such as whether the marked person can be tortured?" asked Setsuna.

"Yes, they did, but how do you know?" the Uzukage asked, dumbfounded.

"I think this cursed seal will most likely be used by Root," Setsuna explained. "To be honest, I think the reason they created Root is to eliminate people Anbu can't touch."

"What?" The Uzukage stood up in shock.

"Yes, I think Root will also act to clean up anyone who doesn't want to follow the Third Hokage," Setsuna revealed. Though this was just an assumption for the Uzukage, it was very real for Setsuna, who had read Naruto.

"Setsuna..." The Uzukage looked at him.

"Root, the name itself, suggests they are the roots of the tree, meaning they are the darkness of Konoha," Setsuna continued.

He added, "I also heard that the Third Hokage was pressured by the clans in Konoha. Unlike the Second Hokage, his strength can't command the same respect. Father, I think we don't need to comply with them this time. If Konoha doesn't have the cursed seal, they likely won't do anything extreme, especially to Senju shinobi."

"Thank you, Setsuna," the Uzukage said, feeling grateful.

"Father, this secret shouldn't spread to others. I think it's better if you deliver the message directly to Mito," said Setsuna.

"I agree with you," the Uzukage replied with a smile.

---Uchiha WoodStyle---

After two months, Uchiha Katori finally woke up, with Hashirama's face looming over her body.

"Katori," Koharu called out upon seeing her awake.

"How long have I been asleep?" Katori smirked.

"Two months," replied Koharu.

"What? I've been asleep that long?" Katori exclaimed in shock. "Where is Sensei?"

"He… he's dead," Koharu said softly.

Suddenly, the room fell silent.

"Sorry, I didn't hear that. Could you please repeat it?" Katori asked.

"He's dead, along with Sister Mikoto," Koharu repeated.

Tears began to fall as Katori's Sharingan evolved into the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Koharu, witnessing this, widened her eyes in surprise.

"Katori, your eyes," she pointed a trembling finger toward her.

"My eyes?" Katori touched her face, feeling her eyes.

"It seems what Sensei taught us was right. The Uchiha awaken their eyes when someone they love dies," said Koharu.

Hearing this, Katori's left eye activated its ability, Kokoro (心), allowing her to sense people's emotions by interpreting their chakra flow. She could sense that Koharu was speaking the truth but also detected traces of jealousy and eagerness to share.

Katori's left eye had the ability to expose the true nature of people, including Hiruzen and Danzo.

Meanwhile, her right eye, though its power was still unknown to her, had the ability to surpass even the Yata Mirror, granting her absolute defense and making her Susanoo nearly impervious to taijutsu, ninjutsu, or kenjutsu attacks.

But that's a story for later. For now, the most intriguing question was whether Katori had also awakened the Wood Style, as the Konoha F4 were speculating.
