Naruto: Getting Observation Haki By Sacrificing The Byakugan

Chapter 155: CHAPTER 155

If Orochimaru knew the current state of Tobirama Senju, he might just collapse crying in a bathroom stall.

Even with all his research on the Impure World Reincarnation, Orochimaru still couldn't freely switch bodies at will—rejection symptoms were a persistent risk. Yet, what Kawaki Aoba had accomplished would have made even the infamous Snake Sannin drool with envy.

He laid the reawakened Tobirama Senju gently on the bed. As the Second Hokage began to stir, Kawaki Aoba vanished from the room using Instant Transmission, leaving no trace.

Almost the moment Aoba disappeared, Tobirama's eyelids twitched. His fingers trembled next, and slowly, he waited as sensation returned to his limbs. When full awareness returned, his eyes snapped open.

He stared blankly at the unfamiliar ceiling above him. Confusion washed over him. Something was wrong.

This didn't feel like Edo Tensei at all.

There was no sensation of ash and chakra-reinforced bones. Instead, this body felt alive—warm and fleshy, albeit frail.

He examined himself, fingers tracing over skin that pulsed with a living heartbeat. A shocking realization struck him: this was no artificial resurrection. He had truly come back to life.

But… whose body was this?

Tobirama quickly stood and approached the mirror in the corner. A stranger stared back—young, unfamiliar, Uchiha.

He frowned, studying the reflection.

Rebirth? That was the domain of myth, not ninjutsu. No technique he knew of could explain this.

As his mind raced, fragmented memories surfaced—he remembered sacrificing himself to cover Danzo's retreat, then... his soul being forcibly extracted from the Edo Tensei form by a mysterious youth.

Could it be that same person? Was this connected to the Rinnegan?

With no clear answers, Tobirama's gaze drifted to a coat draped over the nearby chair. His eyes locked on the clan emblem—round like a fan.

The Uchiha crest.

His breath caught. "No way..."

He looked again into the mirror. Narrowing his eyes, he focused his chakra.

"Sharingan—activate."

His pupils turned scarlet, and two tomoe spun into view. Moments later, a third slowly emerged. Fully matured.

The three-tomoe Sharingan. There was no doubt left.

He was in an Uchiha body.

Tobirama Senju, the architect of Konoha's surveillance system and a lifelong skeptic of Uchiha ambition… was now one of them.

"I died as a Senju and woke up... like this?" he muttered, stunned. "This has to be some kind of sick joke."

---

Meanwhile, inside the Hokage Building, a high-level emergency meeting had been convened—but only a few people were in attendance.

"Where's Elder Danzo?" Minato Namikaze asked, frowning at the Anbu before him. "We already sent a messenger. Why hasn't he arrived?"

The Anbu shook his head. "I'm sorry, Hokage-sama. I delivered the summons to the entrance of Root's base, but the guards wouldn't let me inside."

Minato sighed and waved him off. "Understood. You're dismissed."

He turned to Kawaki Aoba, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and the remaining council members. "The matter at hand is urgent. We'll proceed without Danzo."

None objected. If Danzo wasn't at the meeting, it likely meant he had already gone underground. Given the recent suspicious activity surrounding Root and their suspicious silence, it was obvious—Danzo was no longer in the village.

Even Hiruzen, ever loyal to his former teammate, couldn't deny it. The evidence was too clear.

Minato cleared his throat and continued. "We've been receiving numerous mission requests. People have been vanishing from the surrounding towns and villages."

He paused, letting the gravity settle in the room.

"Their locations are too close to Konoha to ignore."

Though most of the missing were civilians, their proximity to the Hidden Leaf made it a serious security issue. A matter that could not be dismissed.

Kawaki Aoba, well aware of the truth—that Danzo had been abducting people for use in Impure World Reincarnation rituals—remained silent. Instead of revealing it directly, he decided it would be more effective for the others to uncover it themselves. That way, they'd be personally invested in the investigation.

He had the perfect plan to steer them in the right direction.

Ahem. Kawaki Aoba cleared his throat.

"I propose a joint investigation," he said. "All departments with investigative authority should coordinate to track these disappearances."

Minato leaned back in thought. He wasn't questioning the proposal's merit—it was sound—but the man behind it gave him pause.

Kawaki Aoba had stirred up too much lately. His influence was growing fast, too fast. And it was making Minato wary.

The Fourth Hokage recalled frequent reports of friction between the Konoha Military Police and the Uchiha clan's own internal units. Could Aoba be trying to push for cooperation between them?

It would ease tensions, yes—but Minato couldn't shake the feeling that Aoba was planning something deeper.

Every move the man made had purpose. And even if the results benefited Konoha, the process… always felt like a storm brewing.

However, when he recalled what Kawaki Aoba had said about all departments with investigative authority joining forces, Minato Namikaze felt it was a feasible solution.

Turning to Hiruzen Sarutobi, Minato said, "Third Hokage, I've decided to have the Anbu, the Konoha Military Police Force, and the Konoha Enforcement Division cooperate in investigating this case. What are your thoughts?"

Minato's Anbu included both his direct subordinates and those previously under Hiruzen's command.

Understanding the implication behind Minato's words, Hiruzen nodded in agreement.

Minato was wary of the unpredictability that Kawaki Aoba could bring, and Hiruzen, though calm in demeanor, shared that concern.

Thus, a joint operation was approved—officially involving three departments, but practically functioning as four.

As for Root, although they nominally held investigative rights, their exclusion was tacitly accepted due to Danzo Shimura's current absence.

Soon, the mission was disseminated across the departments.

The Anbu and the Enforcement Division understood their roles immediately. But the real focus of this mission fell on the Konoha Military Police Force—led by the Uchiha Clan.

Tobirama Senju now walked the streets of Konoha daily. Over time, he had pieced together the reality of his situation: he had somehow been reborn as a member of the Uchiha Clan—and worse, a particularly disliked one within the Police Force.

The stares he received from villagers were filled with wariness and distrust. Civilians clearly harbored resentment toward the Uchiha, and the clan's standing in the village seemed precarious.

Tobirama wasn't surprised. He had, after all, once laid the foundations for this exact outcome through his policies as the Second Hokage.

Had he been his old self, he might have scoffed. But now, inhabiting the body of an Uchiha—one who had awakened the Three-Tomoe Sharingan—he had little choice but to live this irony.

He had learned that the Third Shinobi World War had ended recently, with Konoha emerging victorious.

But what shocked him most was the dissolution of the Hyuga clan and their full integration into the village—a radical shift he would never have imagined in his time. This transformation, oddly enough, had been led by someone with Hyuga blood.

That same person now maintained a complex relationship with the Uchiha.

As Tobirama wandered through the village, uncertain of what path lay ahead for him in this new identity, a sharp voice called out behind him.

"Tobirama!"

He turned to find another Uchiha Police Officer—his superior.

"Tobirama, the higher-ups have issued a joint operation order. It involves the Anbu, the Enforcement Division, and us. You're on the list. Let's move."

Tobirama frowned. "Three departments? What kind of mission calls for that much coordination?"

"It's about a large-scale civilian disappearance near the outskirts of Konoha. Clan Head Fugaku says the higher-ups are treating this as a top-priority mission. It's a chance for the Uchiha to prove themselves."

The officer paused, looking Tobirama in the eye. "So please—don't lose your temper this time. Don't clash with the Enforcement Division again."

Tobirama's lips twitched in frustration. The original personality of this body had been extreme and impulsive. To avoid suspicion, Tobirama had been forced to act the part.

But something about this assignment felt off. If the mission was so critical, why assign someone as volatile as the Uchiha he was pretending to be?

He narrowed his eyes. "Captain, who authorized the personnel list for this mission?"

"Who else? Elder Kawaki Aoba. The head of the Enforcement Division."

"Tch… That war hero. The so-called youngest legendary ninja."

In the Hokage's office, Kawaki Aoba reclined lazily in a chair beside the window. After a while, he turned toward Minato.

"Minato, could you not stare at me like that? It creeps me out."

Do you think I want to? I'm just worried you'll stir up more trouble, Minato thought bitterly.

"Aoba, you've returned the Uchiha Police Force's personnel list multiple times now. Tell me—why did you insist on that radical Tobirama Uchiha?" Minato finally asked aloud.

"Why him? Because his name is Tobirama." Aoba's gaze grew sharp. "You can tell he's destined for great things. I believe he's the Uchiha's best hope. Whether the Uchiha can finally integrate into the village... it all depends on him."

Minato's expression darkened.

Integrate into the village? Words like that couldn't be taken lightly.

The last time Aoba had "helped" a clan integrate, the Hyuga were broken and absorbed. But the Uchiha didn't have a built-in weakness like the Hyuga's Caged Bird Seal. If they were pushed too far, the consequences could be catastrophic.

Minato, both as Hokage and as a friend of Fugaku, couldn't allow that to happen.

Seeing Minato's mistrust, Aoba sighed. Why had things come to this? Even telling the truth earned him suspicion now.

It's fine, he thought. Time will prove me right.

To ease tension, Aoba decided to keep himself close to Minato for the time being. After all, he considered himself the most qualified Hokage assistant Konoha ever had.

While Aoba lingered in the Hokage's office, Tobirama and the rest of the joint task force had already begun their investigation.

After visiting several surrounding towns and collecting reports, Tobirama came to a chilling conclusion:

These disappearances were not natural. This was the work of shinobi.
