Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Rotation-How Is That Possible?!
"One man can't stand against all of you?" Neji chuckled under his breath. That was only because their worldview was too small. To a true powerhouse, numbers meant nothing.
Whether it was Madara or Hashirama, both had the strength to take on all five great nations alone. That was the mark of true strength.
"You're all far too weak." Neji's voice was calm but carried an unmistakable sense of superiority as he swept his gaze across the Root operatives before him. Then, without hesitation, he stepped forward.
Three Root ninjas exchanged glances. In unison, they formed hand seals and slammed their palms against the ground, shouting, "Earth Style: Splitting Earth Palm!"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The bridge shattered where their palms landed, splinters cracking outward like a spiderweb, racing toward Neji's position.
Crash!
Chunks of the bridge fell and smashed into the lower levels, splintering the platforms beneath with deafening force, sending a cloud of dust swirling through the air.
Neji narrowed his eyes and leapt gracefully toward another platform. But the moment he took off, several prepared Root operatives unleashed a torrent of water from their mouths.
"Water Style: Severing Wave!"
"Earth Style: Earth Dragon Bullet!"
Neji immediately shifted into his own hand signs. In an instant, an earthen dragon rose beneath his feet, spewing a storm of pellets from its maw.
Boom!
Water splashed. Dust pellets exploded in midair. It was as though a rain of mud fell between the two sides as Neji landed cleanly on the platform, his eyes cold and indifferent.
"What is your goal?" one of them demanded.
"Talking won't change anything," Neji muttered, sidestepping a volley of poisonous insects as he darted toward Torune Aburame.
"Don't think you'll succeed!" one Root ninja sprang to the bridge overhead, flipped his palm, and cried, "Water Style: Rapid-Fire Torrent!"
Splurt, splurt, splurt-
A barrage of water bullets rained down, each carrying brutal force and piercing power. Neji glanced up and effortlessly weaved through them, but the bridge behind him was riddled with holes in an instant.
Whoosh!
Just as Neji evaded the last bullet, a figure lunged at him, wielding a long staff. The attacker was slender, long-haired, and clearly a woman. But the look in her eyes as she closed in was anything but gentle it was ice-cold.
"Coming in for close combat even with those poisonous insects?" Neji eyed the iron staff in her hand and murmured, "She must really trust her staff work."
There was no need for words, no need for a standoff. The woman attacked without pause, her staff slamming down with a force that made the air itself vibrate.
"Good," Neji grinned. When it came to taijutsu, aside from Might Guy and Rock Lee, he had never met a match.
With a sidestep, Neji evaded the strike. In the same motion, he reversed his grip and caught the woman's wrist, pulling her toward him.
"Host has made physical contact with Storm Violet-Reward: Earth Style: Earthen Lance acquired."
Earth Style: Earthen Lance – Launches sharp rock spikes from beneath the enemy to impale or disrupt.
"Earth Style: Petrify!" Storm Violet muttered, and her other arm turned to stone, swinging toward Neji's face with brutal weight and solidity.
"A chance!" murmured Torune Aburame, who had been waiting. Forming hand signs at lightning speed, he called out, "Kikaichū: Phosphor Swarm!"
The poisonous insects scattered earlier suddenly converged, enveloping his body. His skin turned a dark, sickly purple, radiating an eerie presence. With a drawn blade, he charged at Neji.
"If you attack me, even if you're Shino's brother, I'll still kill you," Neji said coldly, tightening his grip on Storm Violet's petrified arm.
Torune faltered for a moment. He hadn't expected Neji to know Shino. But he quickly hardened his resolve and continued his charge.
"Wind… he's the only friend I have in Root."
"I see." Neji twisted Storm Violet's arms and suddenly activated his chakra. His body spun rapidly, pulling her into the vortex.
"I won't be holding back!"
Just as Torune reached him, Neji roared, "Eight Trigrams: Rotation!"
A spinning barrier of blue chakra erupted outward, pulling Torune inside and unleashing a powerful whirlwind.
"Now!" shouted one of the Root operatives.
"Fire Style: Grand Flame Art!"
"Lightning Style: Wrathful Thunder Tiger!"
"Water Style: Raging Torrent Colossus!"
Before, they'd feared that using elemental jutsu might destroy the poisonous insects and play into Neji's hands. But now, with him locked in place and restrained by both Storm Violet and Torune, they had no such reservations.
It was like a scene out of a nightmare raging flames, a lightning-formed tiger, and a towering water giant surged toward the center of the Root base.
"Attack!"
With a united cry, they launched their coordinated assault at Neji.
Rotation left the user immobile during execution. With Storm Violet and Torune clinging to him, Neji had no way to dodge. As for the two entangled with him… Well, as Torune had said, Root operatives weren't meant to have emotions. To die for Lord Danzo was their duty.
"Torune, time to prove those noble words of yours," one ninja sneered. Clearly, he hadn't forgiven Torune for earlier risking them all with his insect attacks. Constantly watching out for poison was exhausting.
But just then something changed.
The blue chakra barrier of Neji's Rotation shimmered. A surge of intense flame erupted from within, exploding outward with a thunderous roar. In the next instant, the entire dome of chakra was engulfed in roaring fire.
The scene was mind-shattering. Rotation was a taijutsu technique. It should never have elemental properties. But now, Neji's version looked as though
"Fire-Style Rotation…" one Root operative whispered. Though hidden behind a mask, his disbelief was palpable.
This… had never appeared in the history of the shinobi world.
"How is this possible?!"
"How did he do that?!"
What they were witnessing defied everything they understood. The flaming chakra shield radiated such heat that the steel beneath Neji's feet began to melt, dripping molten metal like glowing tears to the depths below.
The infernal blaze painted the green-lit corridors of Root with an eerie red glow, making the base even more nightmarish. Even at a distance, the heat was overwhelming, and sweat poured from every brow.
"This is bad! Attack now!" someone screamed in panic.
But
"Too late," Neji's voice came calmly from within the fire.
Three massive pillars of flame erupted from the fiery Rotation, blasting into the sky and colliding with the oncoming fire stream, thunder tiger, and water giant.
