Chapter 224: Chapter 224: Ghostly Encounters

Although the zombie shrank back in fright, he was not the only one running out of the entire cemetery. A large group of zombies that looked a little disgusting quickly came out of the cemetery.

Shin's expression turned a bit grim. These zombies reminded him of the grotesque scenes in Resident Evil. Fortunately, the zombies in the world of One Piece, while terrifying in appearance, didn't evoke the same level of disgust as their Resident Evil counterparts.

Shin quickly formed hand seals. "If you like staying underground, then stay there for the rest of your lives."

"Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld!"

With Shin's current strength, even a simple fireball jutsu could rival high-grade fire ninjutsu. His earth release immediately turned the cemetery into a massive swamp, trapping the zombies. Within seconds, their grotesque forms sank with agonized groans, buried tens of meters below the surface.

As Shin stopped channeling chakra, the swamp solidified back into the ground, sealing the zombies permanently. Their decrepit forms would never see the light of day again.

At that moment, eerie laughter echoed from the sky. Strange creatures resembling rudimentary Japanese teru-teru bōzu dolls floated ominously above.

"Wow! Ghosts, actual ghosts!" Brook exclaimed before pausing, "Ah, wait, I'm technically a skeleton. Does that put me in the same category as ghosts?" His awkward humor was lost on the group.

"What ghosts? Watch me smash them with a punch!" Ulti yelled as she leaped toward one of the floating figures.

Her fist connected, but the ghost phased right through her body.

Suddenly, Ulti fell to her knees. "I'm such a terrible sister! I bully Page One all the time. People like me deserve to die!"

"Sis, snap out of it!" Page One hurried to her side, looking panicked.

Meanwhile, Shin scrutinized the ghosts above. One of the figures, struck by Ulti's attack, was now dissipating into wisps of smoke.

"Looks like Armament Haki can deal with them," Shin muttered. "If Ulti had used Haki defensively, she wouldn't have been so easily affected."

Hearing this, the group collectively exhaled in relief. If Perona's

Hollow-Hollow Fruit had been truly invincible, she wouldn't have been merely a subordinate of a Shichibukai.

The ghosts, frightened by Ulti's destructive action, hovered cautiously in the sky, avoiding the group. After a few moments, Ulti recovered from the negative emotions, though embarrassment quickly replaced her fury.

"Those damn ghosts! I'll kill them all!"

Shin pressed a hand on Ulti's shoulder. "You don't even know where they're coming from. Where are you planning to charge off to?"

Fuming, Ulti turned to Violet. "Sister Violet, can you find out who's controlling these things?"

"It's probably someone in the castle. Wait! Who touched me?"

Before Violet could react further, Shin's dark aura flared, enveloping the area around her. Moments later, he reached into the swirling void and pulled out a strange devil fruit along with a man who looked like a mink tribe member.

"You must be Gecko Moria's subordinate, the Clear Human Absalom," Shin said, smirking as he studied the fruit. "The legendary Clear-Clear fruit. I didn't expect it to be this impressive."

What surprised Shin most wasn't just the fruit's ability to grant visual invisibility but its power to conceal even against Haki and advanced sensory techniques. Despite being on high alert, Shin hadn't noticed this person's presence until now.

Absalom lunged at Shin, desperate to retrieve the fruit. However, to Shin, his movements were sluggish, almost laughable. With a casual backhand slap, Shin sent him flying, cracking several ribs. The man landed in a heap, coughing up blood.

Violet grabbed the man's collar, her face a mask of fury.

"This kind of behavior toward women is outrageous!" she declared.

Brook chimed in dramatically, "Yes, such actions are despicable—er, I mean enviable—no! Outrageous!" A sharp glare from Violet silenced him immediately.

"Sister Violet, hand him over to me. I'll smash his head to bits!" Ulti demanded, cracking her knuckles.

"Don't bother, Ulti. Let me handle him," Pudding interjected, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "I've been dying to test my illusions on someone deserving."

"Three-eyed brat, are you trying to pick a fight?"

"Bring it on, Iron Head Girl!"

Before the squabbling could escalate, Violet waved them off with a bright, unsettling smile.

"Don't worry, little sisters. I know how to deal with this kind of man."

Despite her cheerful demeanor, Ulti and Pudding instinctively shivered. Violet calmly produced a small dagger from her dress, her smile growing darker.

Moments later, Absalom let out a blood-curdling scream, clutching himself and rolling on the ground.
